Competition Theme: Cross-Pollination
Time to see if you can nurture some nature!
- You must create a Class card that prominently features a plant or plant-like creature
- Plantlife should be the focus here - think cards like Festeroot Hulk or Bloodbloom
- Your card cannot be a Druid card
- We couldn't make it too easy, now could we?
Link wants us to really flourish this week, so start digging for those ideas!
As always, I can be reached through Discord or here on the site via PM if you have any issues to report.

Welcome to the site!
This competition will naturally be a bit tricky, but I'm excited to see what you guys do.
I chose to make it a Shaman card because I feel that Mage could probably abuse it too easily, and they seem to be pushing SD Shaman so this seems like a natural fit.
Here's my first idea:
I put it in Scholomance as a reference to the Harry Potter tree. FYI: when it goes back to Dormancy, it retains any damage it took.
Probably sucks, but this is my first idea:
I designed it with Hack the System in mind: Armored Goon and the Quest provide payoffs for attacking with your hero, but you need to incorporate ways to...you know...attack. You can drop this, get the Thorn, then use it after you play Armored Goon the next turn.
If anyone is curious where the idea for the prompt came from, it's my Alraune class: a plant/nature class that is separate from the Druid.
https://outof.cards/forums/fan-creations/custom-hearthstone/4724-custom-class-aisha-the-alraune-wip
That's also why we did the "Weapons with 1-Durability" prompt last Season: they're a major part of the class :) Just want to see what people can do with the themes...and maybe steal what artwork you find lol. I thought about straight-up supplanting one of my ideas from there for this competition, but decided against it.
Very interesting theme for this one, especially with the banning of Druid cards. Thought I'd go for the most adorable Demon Hunter, Sklibb!
First idea so far.
This would exist instead of Vilespine Slayer, since hacing both of them in the same set would be kinda redundant.
I'll give some feedback tomorrow.
Thoughts? Thief Priest looking into the mists of Ardenwald to obtain your knowledge, and cards.
Ever wonder what the rumble Run cards would be like in the HS world, well wonder no more and look at the custom collection created to solve that question in Rumble Run Returns! http://www.hearthcards.net/setsandclasses/#5363
Do mushrooms/fungus count?
Ok
Link said yes on Discord.
Not so easy to find art this week, but I'm happy with my idea:
Any thoughts? I'm a bit worried about the Cost because this can become very nasty late in the game, but at least the player on the receiving end can see it coming once the Squashlings start rolling.

Feedback:
anchorm4n: Interesting idea, but Hearthstone has usually steered clear of cards that need other cards to work, unless they were part of the same adventure (Stalagg and amd Feugen) or build-arounds given for free (C'Thun, the Galakronds).
Pokeniner: Now this I like! Do you get the value now, or do you wait and greed it out? Love it! Balance seems fair, as well.
Wailor: Nice buff to Razorpetals. Maybe a little too nice. Not sure about the balance level of this card, it seems too strong. But on the other hand, you need to generate a lot of cards and your opponent needs a board for this to be worth it. Really hard for me to judge. If anything, this should probably be a Legendary.
cydonianknight: This looks like a fun guy! *ba dum tss* Pretty good synergy with the Illidary, but can pretty much break the game if you manage to copy Sklibb, becasue then you'll have an infinite army of 1/1s that just clear the board. And why is a mushroom person summoning Illidari?
linkblade91: Already touched on it in the Discord, I feel the attack is too small for the card.
Demonxz95: Still don't like the idea of permanent +1 Spell Damage. Especially since Shaman has Diligent Notetaker and Krag'wa, the Frog
Thanks Nirast. You're right, the card would be a 7 Mana whiff if you don't draw, play and kill your Squashlings in time. I think I have a solution for that, but now I'm really at a loss which Cost is appropriate. On the one hand, the card kills only enemy minions, which makes it better than Psychic Scream and Plague of Death. On the other hand, it's quite bad if you can't manage to kill the Squashlings and there's Lesser Onyx Spellstone which only costs 5 to kill 3, but has a harder (?) condition. Hmmmmm.

One of the first plant you can gather in wow.
Papa Nurgle wants to share his gifts.
I definitely figured that Magic Bloom wouldn't be that interesting, but flavor comps by nature are quite tricky to manage especially with added restrictions.
Nonetheless, I do have two more cards I made.
Rosa is a woman who lives in a rose able to control the entire plant system of her forest, hiding in her giant rose until ready to strike.
When you do something that nature doesn't like however, sometimes it'll strike you back and entangle you in its roots, leaving you weak and helpless until someone can get you out.
EDIT: Noticed a mistake with Entanglement after Grumpymonk pointed it out. Corrected.

Clearly this is an Alraune card in disguise. *wink, wink* (When are you going to keep going with that class by the way?)
This seems like a pretty fair card, though I feel like it could probably have one additional stat-point.
Thought Hunter could use plants to help in the hunting :)

Thank you for feedback on my Sklibb card, it seems that while there are some balance issues with the card, the main problem seems to be the flavour.
I must admit, not a lot of thought went into the card last night, I came back with fresh eyes this morning and decided to go for a different card altogether which hopefully fares a little better in terms of flavour and balance.

I'm not planning to participate in this, but here is a great piece of art you guys can use:
http://www.artofmtg.com/art/roots/
Hearthcards is down for me, so I can't share any cards, but I'll give feedback right now.
cydonianknight - The card looks interesting at first, but the deathrattle ends up being a very conditional form of poisonous. It only works when your opponent decides to attack into it, and only if its kills the minion. A 3 mana 1/4 taunt poisonous minion would just be okay in terms of power level, and this is quite a bit weaker than that. I would try to make the card more impactful.
KanzakiGin - Devouring in the title should be capitalized, and the deathrattle should start on a separate line from the other two keywords. Mana Crystal should be captialized, the word that should be taken out, the word has should not be in italics, and there is a missing period at the end. I also think that card is too powerful. Worst case scenario, its 6/6 worth of stats at 3 mana with extra abilities.
Demonxz95 - I don't think Rosa the Thorn works well because minions lose stealth when they attack before they deal damage, making the second ability useless.
Entanglement is interesting, but the effect should last longer. As soon as your opponent activates the secret, they could just pass the turn and their minion returns to normal. As far I can see, it only stops rush minions and certain combos. That being, said, I like the card otherwise.
Fedrion - You submitted your card already, but I believe that the "until your next turn" part isn't necessary. Falling asleep only lasts 1 turn anyway, and forcing it to end on your next turn means that it wouldn't affect your minions at all. Your minions could attack before playing this spell, and they could attack again next turn.
anchorm4n - Not really a big fan of either design, sorry. The flavor is there, but the effect seems too forced in my opinion. It's too much of a dead card if you didn't draw your squashlings early enough.
Pokeniner - I like the card a lot! Should probably say add instead of gain though, as you 'add' cards to your hand, not 'gain' them.
Wailor - This is a very cool design. Since it is quite narrow, as it works with 2 cards in the entire game, I believe that it could be buffed to premium stats and still be balanced.
linkblade91 - Looks good, but I would make it have 3 attack.
Nirast - I like the boldness and the flavor, but I agree with anchorm4n that its hard to remove or play against.
Wait, really? Well shit.
Entanglement is supposed to be until their next turn. I made a mistake with the card text, and I didn't even notice it until you pointed it out, so thank you for that.
Do also note that it triggers "when" the minion attacks and not "after" it attacks. If a minion tries to trade, it'll become a 0/2 before the damage connects resulting in your minion not taking any damage, and their minion most likely dying.
Synergises with The Caverns Below. Now with a 100% less anachronism BTW!
Make The Cow King an alternate Warrior skin plz
Cheers for the feedback. I've got two ideas on where to take the Coated Marshroom from here. The first is to just reduce the initial design down to 2 Mana, and possibly adjust it's Health to 3 if 4 Health is too much (comparing to Stubborn Gastropod. The other idea is the one below, which does have a lot more impact, potentially killing 2 minions for 1 at 4 Mana.
I lied when I said I'm not taking part in this. This card is intended to support poison rogue as well as razorpetal rogue. Besides the normal feedback, I'm also looking for a potentially better name, as I'm not a huge fan of the current one.
Initial Idea:
Feedback:
@cydonianknight: First version of the mushroom is way more interesting and flavorful. The second one don't even make much sense why it kill another minion.
@Demonxz95: Rosa seems way too expansive at 5 mana. Stealth Rogue isn't going to run her since it require them to not go face. I suggest knock her down to 4 mana. The Secret is the one that I would go for since it is very flavorful and interesting.
@linkblade91: Bramble Behemoth suck so much compare to Sword Eater
@anchorm4n: The card is way too specific and has the downside of completely being outclassed by Psychic Scream during the time of its printing.
My initial thinking has gone to the corrupted ancients from warcraft 3 and in felwood - a perfect fit for demon hunter i think.
The first design synergises with a low-curve outcast deck where you can easily move this to the left-most position, and nods towards the old Ancient of War for druid. The second is more of a payoff for token decks, letting them develop a very large threat that they have to fuel with the death of their illidari.
Interested to know other thoughts here - while i like these directions, I'm not neccessarily inspired by them.
Repost of my previous card + Feedback.
Might tweak it a little bit later.

Feedback round 2, here we go!
Rokkar, Forest Ambassador is quite the card you got there. I want to say it's fine, but unconditional Start of Game effects that provide an upside are dangerous (*cough cough* Genn *cough* Baku *cough cough*).
Fungal Giant seems extremely easy to discount to 0. Possibly too much so.
Scavenging Lasher however is quite nice. I like it.
The reason I put it at 1 mana is because of Sorcerer's Apprentice and Radiant Elemental. Those two cards are unrestricted in the types of cards they can discount, meanwhile Spore Channeler only has the one school of magic, and it's one that isn't primary in rogue (really only seen in poisons, and in razorpetals in Un'Goro). You do have a point with swing turns though, I might look into changing it to be more like Bloodsail Deckhand, or Kindling Elemental.
Thank you for the feedback. It sucks that I should change the watermark, as I think it fits perfectly into K&C (with a kingsbane rogue in K&C, and with razorpetals in the same year). That being said, it has to be done, so I'll change it to a custom watermark.
Feedback:
DestroyerR
Make the razorblooms into 2/2s, have the effect be permanent, transforming all razorpetals that were created and will be created this game into razorblooms.
Alternatively, buff Lien to a 2 mana 3/2, making her not a terrible play on her own.
cydonianknight
I like coated mushroom 2. It looks like a card that could be printed in my opinion.
shatterstar1998
Rokkar needs some kind of restriction. Compare it to making all the minions in your deck into dragons, or into murlocs. Nature doesn't have much synergy yet, but that's because it's only the first expansion having spell schools.
Fungal giant might be fine balance wise, just correct the typo in "…a minion survived damage…" (correction is bold).
Scavenging lasher is balanced - would definitely see play in poison rogue if it becomes a thing.
I'll give more feedback later.
<Edit> Got caught up on not using Druid, didn't realize it was class specific challenge. Updated artwork that looks more Warlock.
Thanks a lot for all your feedback on The Pumpking's Rage. I get it wasn't very much to your liking and I'm struggling to create something competitive this week. So I've decided to submit a fun card instead, which features one of my favorite characters committing her ultimate crime. It took some time to figure out how the effect of burning Teldrassil with the intention to crush all hope might be translated into a Hearthstone card. But in the end, the Banshee Queen herself gave me the cue: Burn it!
Also, more feedback!

Quick clarification on why I chose to go with "asleep" instead of freezing or changing to 0 the enemies attack and all that stuff.
The card Sunstruck Henchman uses that as a mechanic. If it falls asleep is as if you just played the minion and can't do anything that turn with it.
So the idea is, everything is asleep after you use it, misplays could happen and all that. So, is actually a normal card without much thinking and something I found was really flavorful for the competition, so I went with it.
Win or not, I simply don't care, I just found interesting this topic as well as previously others and this time I just went without giving it much thought, I found myself overthinking too much when I participated previously so I rode the derp rainbow and I'm happy with it.
Papa Nurgle wants to share his gifts.
Here's my possible cards for this comp. 2 of them are cards which I had in gallery (they may also reveal my Hearthpwn identity to someone), while Black Lotus was made especially for this comp.
Black Lotus is for some super combo OTK. Fungal Guard was made as a card for a set, so may look kinda bland without the context, but it feels quite ok anyway, want to hear opinions. Fungal Alchemist is a minion with changing stats - it has aggresive stats on your turn and defensive stats on opponent's turn.
I'll try to give feedback within the next 24 hours, I just don't have much time this week.
Ok
@Arkasaur: I like the second version much more. The first version ran into the problem of not doing enough on the for such a requirement unless it is Skull of Gul'dan level of busted.
@ChickyChick: Your Black Lotus is so busted with the new Rogue Legendary since it can discount up to 6 mana for a card. The second card is just really confusing. The Fungal Alchemist is my favorite.
@anchorm4n: I don't know why you don't make the card from Warlock. It has the deck destroying and Mana Crystal destroying mechanic. I think it also need to target destroy because it is 6 mana and a Legendary.
Quick feedback before sleep.
I guess because I just play Midrange Hunter a lot that it helps me naturally think of Secrets. Thank you.
Burn it! feels like a pretty fine card, but it feels more like a Warlock card than a Hunter one as two of the three mechanics on the card are very distinctly Warlock. I question the Shadow spell type too since the card seems more like it would be a Fire spell to me. What the card does by itself though is good and I like it.
Thanks for your feedback, shatterstar and Demon. I've put Burn it! into Hunter because it's themed around Sylvanas which is (at least in my head) very solidly tied with that class since she was made an alternative Hero skin. You're right when you say that the effect would feel more natural in Warlock, though. I'll think about this some more before submitting.

MB — 5/5, just a neat card, not much to say. I think definitely not OP at 4 Mana, maybe even weak but idk. I Doubt it’ll be interesting enough to be winner material though
RtT — -1(?) star for aesthetics (art is a bit too realistic for HS, can be fixed easily though. Let’s just say there’s no shortage of Poison Ivy-like artworks out there… I suggest “Pollen Polluter Pam” on artstation or maybe even “Roselia Venithorn” on HearthCards, that one might be too OP of an art though), so 4-5/5
Entanglement — 5/5, thought it might be too strong but considering your opponent can play around it quite easily it seems ok
Nirast
LM — -1 star for flavor (DH/Hunter feels very forced, this would be a Neutral if anything), -1 star for idea/mechanic (mechanically speaking this card is very awkward, going Dormant has always “reset” the minion e.g. Sherazin and changing it for this card feels very counter-intuitive), so 3/5
linkblade91
BB — -1 star for aesthetics (no token?), so 4/5
anchorm4n
TPR — -2 stars for idea (Epic card that is designed specifically to support a specific Common card… really weird to me), so 3/5
BI — -1 star for aesthetics/syntax (“it” in the title should be capitalized), -1 star for aesthetics/flavor (feels kind of awkward theme-wise… yeah, it’s technically plant based, but the spirit of the card here is the WoW event, not the vegetation. I feel like it’s teetering on the very edge of the intended flavor for this comp), so 3/5
Fedrion
Peacebloom — -2 stars for idea (not very innovative… just a worse Frost Nova), so 3/5
cydonianknight
CM — -1 star for balance (too strong IMO because of the possibility to trade and destroy a chosen minion, change it to 0 Attack and I would give it 5 stars. Also makes more sense for an inanimate object to not be able to attack lol), -1 star for aesthetics (flavor issue, see previous comment), so 3/5. All of this referring to the “destroy a minion” Deathrattle version, which I like a lot more

Going to clean it up but looking for ideas on concept:
For anyone who doesn't know of the flower SnapDragons that leave these skull like pods after dying.
@daybreaks
I'm not sure if this counts, considering that main subject is the Dragon, not the flower. Maybe you could make a Snap Dragon as a flower which would synergise with dragons? As for the card itself, I think that Rush doesn't need to be conditional, because this makes your card more complex. Also, if you refer to another card in the text, you do not have to make it bolded. Also, Fire doesn't need to be bolded, unless it's mixed with Spell Damage.
Ok
Obviously a work in progress. I don't know if I should just use some random name generator. I'm just terrible at coming up with names. Just to be sure, was Witchwood the expansion that introduced Rush, or was that later?
You have a little over 23 hours left so submit.
DestroyR, they changed how Dormant works somewhere around Ashes of Outland. So when a minion goes Dormant, it keeps any modifications, including damage. Easiest way to test is Maiev.
...I didn't submit in my own prompt. This has not been my Season so far: I'm either horribly unmotivated or too busy :(
Good luck to all participants!
I was hoping for some feedback before I submitted. I know I posted in this thread late, but I was busy with the Tavern Crawl stuff and the news.
@linkblade91
No worries, I believe you will come back even stronger.
Ok
Wow, I did not do good apparently. I feel like Vine Snare being submitted really hurt my score since the two cards ended up being really similar.
Nice job Arkasaur. You've got the next theme!
Hmm, I had highest voting in the first phase. Maybe I got lucky with voters thanks to submitting late. Anyway, good job Arkasaur.
Ok
Congratulations to Arkasaur :)
@Demonxz95 Sorry about my card being really similar to yours. I hadn't had time to submit via the thread so I just put a card straight on the comp without realising how similar it was.
Disclaimer: if the above is factually incorrect or complete rubbish it is definitely both intentional and comedy genius.
Congrats Arkasaur!
