Great concept!
So, mech for mage and murloc for warlock, interesting
Imagine playing an 8-drop minion that doesn't just win you the game
Varian, King of Stormwind, Cenarion Ward, Bru'kan of the Elements, Mo'arg Forgefiend, Xyrella, the Devout, Abominable Lieutenant, Rune of the Archmage, and Shadowcrafter Scabbs are all seeing play right now and don't necessarily win you the game when played. Also keep in mind that the power level of Standard is going way down since we're losing all the Year of the Phoenix cards.
most of those aren't minions, my dude. and those that are (other than varian) are generally cheated out, not played as 8-drops. good effort, though!
If you cheat a Colossal minion out, my dude, it still summons its body parts, my dude, for full value, my dude.
LOL, close enough! :D I'd like to say I inspired someone, but probably not :D

I really dislike this card from a flavor perspective. What the hell is mage doing with Mechs? Mages grow themselves gills, invoke giant water elementals, put themselves in an air bubble or even transform into an aquatic demon from another dimension. But not mechs.
I know mech mage was a thing on GvG before anyone say it. But justifying a mistake with a past mistake isn't valid.
And specially mechs like this one. I'd buy it if these mechs had crazy transform effects or were fueled by arcane magic. But this is not the case. This is a warrior card. From every perspective.
The first thing you should do when flavor doesn't seem to fit is make sure you fully understand the lore, setting and context.
Considering that many Warcraft Mechs have semisentient AI and other capabilities that would be impossible without magic in a low-tech setting, it stands to reason that most Mechs do have some magic in them.
At a purely thematic level, why do you think warrior is any better associated with mechs than mage? Warriors are not tinkerers/artificers; they are simple dudes who hit stuff and block things, and like to get angry from time to time. If anything they are probably the most likely (alongside paladin) to feel it is dishonorable to have a mech's support in a battle. So warrior's connection to the tribe runs no deeper than paladin's connection to murlocs: they just happened to be given them enough to become a running theme.
Mages, meanwhile, can at least be conceived as being part of the mech's creation. That doesn't make them an immediate fit, but I'm not sure any of the 10 classes really are.
A mage in World of Warcraft (and Hearthstone, for that matter) doesn't necessarily mean Harry Potter-esque sorcerer/sorceress that flies on a broom in long robes with white beards. Mages and magic power in general have interacted with mechs in World of Warcraft long before GvG.
The reason why Mech Mage was a thing during GvG was because Gnomes are known for being incredibly powerful casters, and they would often infuse or power their mechanical constructs using magic. The whole concept of electrically powered devices is inherently arcane (since it's literally the manipulation of energy). Therefore, it's pretty much implied that almost all mechs are in some way arcane-fuelled.
If you're going to talk about the flavour of a card not fitting the lore, then please get the lore correct first.
At first glance, I thought it was a warrior card.
Most of the "mage/mech" hybridization comes from gnomes (hence goblins vs gnomes expansion) who dabbled in mechanical mastery as well as arcane mastery. You see this more in outland with "constructs" of mechanical design being powered by magic. Sometimes that powering is implied, sometimes assumed, sometimes explicitly mentioned, but in all cases it's the hybridization of mech+magic.
Tempest Keep in Outland is probably the most explicit area I can think of that had a high number of mechs and magic beings combined (along with most of netherstorm). Lastly another example is Fel Reaver, mechanical monstrosities that were powered by fel magic.
In any case, I think you're getting way too worked up over the perceived lore (or in your view, the lack thereof). But wanted to mention that plenty of precedent has existed in world of warcraft for years.
Considering that Mordresh Fire Eye does 10 damage to everything, this card looks fairly weak by comparison. But at very least with two mechs generated from this card, it can deal a decent 2 damage AoE so its not completely garbage.
A good start for a possible mech mage archetype. But I remain unconvinced mage can pull it off. What it really needs now is a mech that'll flood the board with other mechs, something like Replicating Menace, and a decent midrange mech to top it up.
Team5 did say they would bring back a keyword from the past, so maybe magnetic? Would make mech mage look better if nothing else.
Seeing the new mechs, I am now totally convinced that a lot of mech support will become a part of the new Core set and Mech Mage will live once again in Standard.
I think you're comparing apples to oranges here. Mordresh and this dude fit in two entirely separate archetypes. Mech Mage is probably going to be some tempo/aggro deck that wants to do hit face, so even though this guy does a lot less damage, the reach might just be enough because they'll have done so much damage with their other mechs during earlier turns.
Also, "would make mech mage" is a surprisingly difficult tongue twister.
With all this they might add Goblin Blastmage to core set...
I'm almost 100% sure they will.
I'm not 100% sure that it is not PTSD I feel about it tho. :D
I never played during GvG, i started playing when GvG already rotated, so yeah...
