Welcome, fellow achievement hunter.
Ever since the introduction of the rewards track, each expansion has always brought us a handful of achievements to complete in order to gain more rewards: while some of them are relatively easy to complete, some others may take some time or a proper set up. In case you're wondering what's the best way to gain all that sweet sweet XP locked behind Murder at Castle Nathria's achievements, do not fret, as we have the answer you're looking for!
In this guide we'll focus our attention on the Castle Nathria Hunter achievements and provide at least one way to complete each of them so that you'll be able to get closer to the end of your reward track.
Disclaimer: as always, all expansion achievements can be completed in Ranked Standard, Ranked Wild, Arena, Casual & Heroic Duels and Classic - Casual Standard, Casual Wild and Tavern Brawl will not count towards your hunt! Moreover, we'll always take Ranked Standard as the default game format for our strategies: if we happen to have some strategies or particular interactions belonging to other modes to highlight, we'll be sure to specify it.
Here are all the achievements we're going to complete together:
- Beware of Gargon - Destroy 50 minions with Stonebound Gargon.
- Huntsman's Best Friend - Summon all three Gargon Companions at once with Huntsman Altimor.
- Wait, They're Not Plants? - Summon 100/200/300 Dormant Wildseeds.
- Held In Contempt - Destroy the enemy hero with Motion Denied 1/3 times.

Castle Nathria Hunter Achievements Overview
Hunter has a very easy (although locked behind a Legendary card) achievement in Huntsman's Best Friend and two rather grindy ones in Beware of Gargon and Wait, They're Not Plants?. However, we say that you won't have any real trouble completing these.
Edit: guide updated with the achievement from the Maw and Disorder Mini-Set.
How to Complete the "Beware of Gargon" Hunter Achievement
- Requirement: Destroy 50 minions with Stonebound Gargon.
- Speed Rating: 4/5, especially in Wild
- XP Points Rewarded: 200 XP
- Related Achievements:
- Hunter's Wait, They're Not Plants?
- Neutral's Location, Location, Location!
In order to complete this achievement, we'll use a deck with Stonebound Gargon as the only collectible Beast and Leatherworking Kit as tutor for it.
- Once Stonebound Gargon is drawn and Infused, you'll play it and shuffle additional copies of it in your deck with Dire Frenzy.
- The shuffled copies will be drawn by Leatherworking Kit itself or summoned by Pet Collector.
- Do not play Pet Collector until you're sure you'll summon an Infused Stonebound Gargon.
- Warsong Wrangler and Selective Breeder are additional Stonebound Gargon tutors.
- You can use Serpentbloom to get rid of minions with a Health total higher than Stonebound Gargon's Attack.
- The Castle Kennels Location will give any of your units more firepower, which is something we don't mind in this particular scenario.
- Devouring Swarm can give you an additional Stonebound Gargon cleave, as well as returning Gargon itself to your hand.
However, I personally completed this achievement in Wild, thanks to Scavenger's Ingenuity, which is such a great card for Beware of Gargon. I actually won some games because I was able to threaten multiple big Gargons at the same time, denying my opponent any form of board presence.
- Wildseeds are not necessary, but they progress Wait, They're Not Plants? and give you enough tokens for you to Infuse Stonebound Gargon with.
- Famished Fool is another really good card in this deck, which also progresses the Neutral Stop! Infuse Time! achievement.
- If you want, you can include Huntsman Altimor just because it's a really good card and because, with all these Infuse shenanigans going on, you'll have a solid chance to complete the easy Huntsman's Best Friend achievement.
How to Complete the "Huntsman's Best Friend" Hunter Achievement
- Requirement: Summon all three Gargon Companions at once with Huntsman Altimor.
- Speed Rating: 5/5.
- XP Points Rewarded: 200 XP
- Related Achievements:
- Hunter's Wait, They're Not Plants? - You need minions to die in order to Infuse Huntsman Altimor, so Wildseeds seem appropriate for your task.
- Hunter's Beware of Gargon - You have some deck space to include a couple of Stonebound Gargon, so why not?
- Neutral's Location, Location, Location!
If you own Huntsman Altimor, this is one of the easiest achievements of the entire Castle Nathria set. Long story short, play a deck with Altimor as the highest cost minion and Taelan Fordring to tutor it. Once you have Altimor in hand, you just need to wait until 8 friendly minions die (we'll build a token-focused deck for this) in order for the Legendary to be completely Infused. Easy peasy.
- Based on the achievement's description, Brann Bronzebeard into Huntsman Altimor shouldn't work, as the Gargon Companions must be summoned at once.
- Duels format note: if you do not own Huntsman Altimor, you may want to try out some Casual Duels (no entry fee): there are chances to find Altimor in mid-run buckets while playing Hunter!
- Duels format note: additionally, you may be able to Discover Huntsman Altimor thanks to the tier 1 Passive Treasure Be Our Guest's Legendary Invitations (the same ones from Paladin's The Countess, which also count towards Paladin's Guests of Honor achievement).
- To be fair, this tip is valid for any Legendary-dependent achievement.
How to Complete the "Wait, They're Not Plants?" Hunter Achievement
- Requirement: Summon 100/200/300 Dormant Wildseeds.
- Speed Rating: 2/5.
- XP Points Rewarded: 200 XP
- Related Achievements: none.
It doesn't matter how you put it: 300 is a large number, so it is fair to assume that Wait, They're Not Plants? will take a while to complete. Fortunately for us, there are plenty of ways for us to summon Wildseeds, so we expect to proceed at a solid pace.
- This deck includes a Secret package so that you'll be able to draw through your deck thanks to Multicaster.
- Use Twinbow Terrorcoil to double up the effects of Revive Pet, Stag Charge or (the best target) Wild Spirits.
- You need to summon Wildseeds, so Revive Pet does count.
- Use Devouring Swarm to send both Wildseeds and Wildseed generators (such as Spirit Poacher and Ara'lon) back to your hand.
- Considering that Wildseeds are Dormant units, always keep an eye on how much board space you have left.
How to Complete the "Held in Contempt" Hunter Achievement
- Requirement: Destroy the enemy hero with Motion Denied 1/3 times.
- Speed Rating: 1/5
- XP Points Rewared: 200 and 200 XP
- Related Achievements: none
Fortunately for us, 3 times aren't a lot, but completing Held in Contempt will require remarkable setup, since:
- You'll have to put your opponent at 6 or less Health.
- Your opponent will have to play at least 3 cards in order to trigger Motion Denied, and they can even play around it!
- Prince Renathal being so popular doesn't really help, as it means much more work to do.
We all know how bad it is when an achievement requires our opponent to cooperate with us, but sometimes it just can't be helped. In this case, we believe an aggressive approach with Motion Denied as one of the finishers is going to do the trick.
- Try to have both Motion Denied and Improved Motion Denied in play at the same time, so that at the third card played in a turn by your opponents they will receive 15 damage, making Held in Contempt's completion much more likely.
- Duels format note: Duels runs starts with opponents having only 15 Health, meaning that you'll be able to put your opponent in Motion Denied range fairly easily.

I'm actually quite successful with Gargon deck in wild. Funny how fat cleave minions slaps Big Priest. And I actually have more resources :)
Right?? It's unexpectedly successful!
"If you own Huntsman Altimor, this is one of the easiest achievements of the entire Castle Nathria set.....",
and here I am waiting on the next set of paragraph saying, "And if you don't, then.....", because I don't have him, and I don't really think I wanna craft him with dust because his achievement is quite easy. I literally have no idea how to discover a Legendary Hunter card with no tags, and the chance of stealing him using other classes is way too slim.
PS. And before you asked, nope, I also don't have that paladin card that gives Legendary Invitation either.
Going to sit here waiting.
If you still haven't gotten the Huntsmaster achievement done, get it now during this refund window! Craft Huntsman Altimor while it can be dusted back for full value. That's what I did!
huntsman was never nerfed, why would they give a refund on him? i did the wildseeds achievement by crafting the legendarie and the epics in that window of time, but Altimor was never refunded. or what happened here. :C
Hey there, let me try to help.
"And if you don't, then....." .....simply play casual Duels. I know the mode isn´t fun for many people, but that´s exactly where I do all of my achievements, without any drawback. I don´t own Huntsman Altimor either, but you can easily find him in buckets while playing Professor Slate - I did the achievement that way. Just make a starting deck with all the hunter cards from Castle Nathria you have plus some other for other achievement you need to complete and you should be good to go. It took me maybe two or three tries to get the right bucket (I think it´s called The Little Bites), but meanwhile I could complete other achievements just by playing, so it´s up to you if you want to try. Other than that, there is also a new treasure in Duels you can find which gives you Legendary Invitation to the deck so that is another way you can discover either Huntsman Altimor or other missing Legendaries. Hope this helps. Cheers!
Meaningful tips! Added to the guide ;)
Cool, I´m glad if it helps someone. Anyway, thanks for your work and putting this all together, Avalon :)
I am glad someone finds these guides useful, so I am more than okay with writing them :)
It goes without being said that all kinds of feedback (expressed in a civil way, of course) are more than welcome: if you all think you have a tip, a strategy or something else that I forgot to mention and that you deem worth the spot on the guide, do not be afraid to comment it or to DM me!
