Every single one of these "transform while in hand" cards has been bad.
Shifter Zerus, Chameleos, Molten Blade, Shifting Scroll and none of them were ever any good. Could be a fun card, but the sheer amount of variance in this means it likely will not see any competitive play.
Not very competitive, but fun!
Arch-Villain Rafaam on turn 5 lets go!
ArtStation | Twitter
not very fan of this one, not competitive for sure
Wow. Shaman ends up way worse than the other classes so far. I'm no fan of the hunter cards either, but they are at least playable. This is terrible!
I notice I am confused. Something I believe isn't true. How do I know what I think I know?
Harry James Potter-Evans-Verres, hpmor.com
yikes. was looking for big shaman support but found this
fun card but waste of legendary slot in the collection
Bandersmosh Is certainly a fun card, but it’s random and needs to be in your hand at least one turn before it can be good. Too slow and unpredictable.
Shudderwock. Bandersmosh. WHY IS HAGATHA ON DRUGS?
Bad card btw.
Well, this is non-competitive for sure, but i dont think its unplayable. A fun card always find its place in my decks, so we will see. I know, im rank26 drewling noob, playing for the game itself not for laddering :)
Never netdeck, craft Whizbang instead!
Big shaman is the only one deck that can play this.
Big Bad Voodoo and Ancestral Spirit shenanigans.
By The Holy Light!
1/5 too damn random, even if it's 5 mana legendary no matter what (which can also be not only 5 mana but changing mana cost as well it's not 100%) you might get some classic/situational/synergistic legendaries most of the time and be stuck with a dead card, plus it's bad when drawn a 5 mana vanilla 5/5 is not desirable...
it's fun though Shaman is very strong atm so it's fine to give them bad cards.. just not freeze shaman level bad cards..
Meme Muckmorpher!! I love how it resembles the original.
-=alfi=-
Hir'eek, the Bat on turn 5?
Alexstrasza evolve King Krush

Probably not good, but it’s fun.
Too unreliable, in many cases the legendary effect is wasted in your deck or the card is ruined with 5/5 stats. Only in few cases you can roll high. 3 stars
Probably very inconsistent, at the same time you can highroll really nice. A lot of legendaries have <vanilla stats but good effects so you will hope to get one of them. Won't se constructed play except for memes.
I think people are underrating this one. There's plenty of Legendaries in the game that benefit heavily from being "downsized". Imagine a turn 5 Tirion....or Onyxia or even just Gruul.
On the other hand there's very few legendaries that aren't at least playable as 5-mana 5/5s. Wouldn't mind just throwing out a 5/5 Thalnos or even Nat Pagle.
The only truly bad results would be stuff like Deathwing or Millhouse....in which case you just wait a turn.
This fits the recurring Shaman thing of "pulling random stuff out of my ass to win me the game on the spot due to sheer RNG" (as previously seen in Evolve and Fleshshaper shenanigans)
The main difference to Shifter Zerus is the mana cost. If draw this before turn 5 there's a good chance that it will transform into something useful by the time you can play it.
I actually looked at all the available legendaries now and there's honestly not that many really bad outcomes. At worst you'd play this as just a blank 5/5 for tempo, which isn't the worst thing if the rest of your deck is solid...at best you can just win the game on the spot by cheating value.
a list of all the good outcomes (in terms of cost efficiency and occasional upside depending on which deck you're playing):
Lucentbark, Splintergraft, Cenarius, Houndmaster Shaw, Halazzi, Flark, Vereesa, King Krush, Emeriss, Arugal, Luna, Toki, Antonidas, Malacrass, Kalecgos, Kangor, Finley, Thekal, Glass Knight, Prince Liam, Tirion, Nozari, Shirvallah, Lazul, Amet, Lady in White, Bwonsamdi, Velen, Catrina Muerte, Princess Talanji, Van Cleef, Face Collector, Gral, Myra, Togwaggle, Electra, Zentimo, Vessina, Swamp qqueen Hagatha, Al'akir, Shudderwock, Jeklik, Tekhan, Dr. Morrigan, Glinda Crowskin, Rafaam, Godfrey, Betrug, Hir'eek, Jaraxxus, Voone, Darius Crowley, Armagedillo, Akali, Grom, Boom reaver, Thalnos, Nat Pagle, Brightwing, Zephrys (?), SnipSnap, Tinkmaster, Vargoth, Barista Lynchen, Greenskin, Dollmaster Dorian, Harrison Jones, Leeroy, Zilliax, Cairne, Hogger, Illidan, Mojomaster Zihi, The Black Knight, Azalina Soulthief, Baron Geddon, Ashmore, HI Whiteman, Siamat, Gruul, Jepetto, Octosari, Alexstraza, Malygos, Onyxia, Ysera, Colossus of the mOon, King Phaoris.
As far as value goes, the odds are in your favour, and every so often you might jusst get exactly what you need (Tekhan in Quest Shaman would be insane, Al'akir in aggro)
I tried having fun once.
It was awful.
On the good side, when you top deck this late game, you can play it as a 5/5. I mean, it is not as bad as top decking any of the other "transform in hand" cards
unplayble bad card, next. All shifting cards bad, i don't see why this is not.
Also, bad flavor for being leg, art like it's epic max.
Heavy RNG card = Non-competitive card, not good at all in meta decks, but other than that, I love it. I like that RNG can lead to do cool and stupid things,, plus this card can access to a different class's powerful cards, the 5 mana cost makes it even better to gain late game power on turn 5, lucky if you can get above 6 or more.
This card is definitely going to added in my fun-only deck combined with The Runespear till I faced tryhard players.
Can be good, can be bad. Not bad stats but definetely letting this card sit on your hand until it is playable is not a good thing. Let's wait and see if it gets used.
Mutate says hi.
You drop a higher cost Battlecry for (5), and then evo it for bigger body.
Forget the actual name.
I'm always going to call this card "Crash Bandersmosh".
Could be Shudderwock or could be Millhouse Manastorm. Could be Kalegos, or could be either deathwing. I get that you hang onto it until you get one you want, but just seems like it's not going to pay off in constructed.
There are so many legendarys with effects that maybe not amazing, but not bad on a 5 mana 5/5. There are some pretty good highrolls, and some lowrolls, and some mid-rolls, but I think most of the time this will be worth it. The only legendaries that are really bad are the ones that have extra stats and a negetive effect such as The Beast or King Mukla, or the ones that require you to build your deck around them spesifically, such as Tess Greymane or any of the highlander legendarys. But most legendarys are at least alright as a 5 mana 5/5, and if you get a bad one just wait a turn, I could see this being played in a midrange shaman deck as a last resort or just as a possible swing card.
Really though, these kinds of cards have never been good. Shifter Zerus, Chameleos, Molten Blade, none of those cards are playable. I do think this is the best card they have made with this kind of effect, but this kind of effect just isn't good enough.
I know that if I open this guy, I will play him in some sub-optimal wonky midrange/control shaman, but he will not be good enough for competitive play.
Carrion, my wayward grub.
First I thought it's as bad as Zerus or Chameleos, but I misread the card: it is always playable on turn five. It is way better than it seems Imho : even bad understated legendaries can become a huge problem to your opponent with a 5/5 statline. I played a lot of big shaman and will gladly add this alongside Muckmorpher . The " Surprise MF!! " is also a big plus for me.
Elders Scrolls : Legends / Runeterra
After reading countless of you thinking this won't be competitively viable, as much as I'd like to side with you, I think this one is underrated and will bite of all back in the ass. On average, a random legendary can be really good - life changing or game swinging - I'm predicting this one will be a meme, yes, but a powerful one.
Struggle with Heroic Galakrond's Awakening? I got your back :
Yeah for sure this is underestimated, at least in the current Standard. There are a lot less misses with this as a random 5 mana 5/5 version of something. In fact there are a lot of mediocre 7-10 cost legendaries that have awesome effects but just cost too much for what they are. Some other people have also noticed this, and that is what makes this card better than a number of the other transforming cards, and that is the pool of cards is transforming from. Yes, there are misses, but because the cost of this is always set, and not variable, and the stats are always set, and not variable, the only thing you need is 5 mana and decent outcome, and you have your value. Other shifting cards costs and effects swung, this only the bonus changes, the cost and stats stay the same giving it much more impact.
To crush your enemies, to see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of the women.
Very unreliable card but useful in arena..probably will be dusted..
It's not correct to compare this to Zerus. There is an opinion that random legendary is bad on average and I agree on that. But that's because many of them are understatted (and most likely with effect not suitable for your deck). This card is always 5 mana 5/5 with potentially good side effect.
Can't this have insane high's roll? like with a t5 Hir'eek, the Bat
Great point, this could be a really strong combo if it works consistently enough.
Gosh dang it, cards bad.
People are comparing this to other "transform while in hand" card, but I think those had too high variance and usability, while this card should be usually great in value matchups, but bad otherwise.
Of course you can get a huge value minion from this, but what are the actual chances? There are soooooo many legendaries, so many bad ones, it's so rng. I don't like it.
I'm sorry for my bad english :)
Too much RNG - I don't think it will be any useful.
“If you have an apple and I have an apple and we exchange these apples then you and I will still each have one apple. But if you have an idea and I have an idea and we exchange these ideas, then each of us will have two ideas.” ― George Bernard Shaw
EU Legend: S52 (ZooHeal Lock); S76 (Highlander Hunter);
One advantage that Bandersmosh may have over the aforementioned is its fixed cost, which assures its playability from turn 5 onwards. Also, depending on the legendary it copies, its 5-mana cost may even be considered a discount. That may not make it competitive but perhaps gives it one more star over the others?
RNGstone engaged.
There are right now many value generating legendaries in the game but at the end of the day it remains RNG sometimes lucky sometimes not.
Who knows? It could even be a Bandersmosh!
5/5 Millhouse please!
Even though you get to wait until it's something you want to drop, I'm not sold on it being all that good.
Hang on, Shaman doesn't have a Galakrond?
A man is lying on the street, some punks chopped off his head
I'm the only one who stops to see if he's dead.
Hmm. Turns out he's dead.
Galakrond doesn't take up a card slot.
Look at the card list and you will see all of the EVIL classes have an extra card.
Carrion, my wayward grub.
Okay, cool.
A man is lying on the street, some punks chopped off his head
I'm the only one who stops to see if he's dead.
Hmm. Turns out he's dead.
This guy could revolve the entire game in a blink. Pretty scared.
someone love Lewis Carroll ....Shudderwock. Bandersmosh
Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!
A Shifter Zerus for legendaries that always has decent stats, always costs 5 and is more managable. It's a fun card to run but these types of effects are never competitive.
More dragons? Yes please!
Too much RNG-based, but there are a decent amount of good legendaries so this could make some really crazy plays
Well it's over
Kind of funny, but definitely not worth it in any serious decks
Who needs consistency when you could have fun?
Hearthstone community- This card is heavy rng, wont be played in the meta
Bandersmosh- These guys forget what game they are playing
There is some crazy highroll potential with this card. Like imagine getting one of the big dragons or even a Shudderwock.
Do you put your faith in the Light? If yes, play this card.
A new Shifter Zerus becomes a traditional legendary filler for the next expamsion. This might be played actually if your deck allows you to hold a card for long time and survive until you get something useful. But such cards was not played a lot previously so i guess Bandersmosh will not be too. Personally i don't like this kind of cards.
Shifter Zerus was bad, that is no debate, but still found a purpose into Battlegrounds.
Stay open minded guys :)
Struggle with Heroic Galakrond's Awakening? I got your back :
Pretty bad card, you don't want transformation effects in shaman right now, not sure how the card will play out. We will see.
I think this card is underrated, getting a random Legendary means you can highroll, but worst case scenario it's still a 5/5 for 5. There are more good outcomes than bad ones, so this card will definitely see play imo.
Very interesting card. The meme cards are rather extreme this expansion and that makes me excited
I don't like it.
Generally isn't a card that you want to run, because it will be bad most of the time. But very rarely will win you games on turn 5, without your opponent even knowing what to play around.
Isn't funny when that happens to you (will make epic Trolden videos tho!)
Funny card, I like it. But I'm sceptical if it's playable
I like the idea, but the pool of legendaries is just too large. I would put it in just a fun deck, but doubt I'd put it in anything I was trying to ladder with.
Randomness never seems to fit top tier deck, and this will be no exception. Although I personally think this card is actually pretty good, as most Legendaries are very powerful for 5 mana. Might be a sleeper card.
Very un-impressed with this legendary. Given the sheer power level of the expansion overall, this is probably the worst legendary in the entire expac. I'd rate it even lower than the legendary warrior pirate weapon.
So much randomness. I cant wait to get cards ı cant afford to but
This is exacly why I will love this card. Is it bad? maybe. Will it have some higlrolls worthy of youtube and your opponents ragequit followed by adding as friend in order to tell you to die? definitely.
The game needs this cards from time to time, and unlike priest when it received some of its worst cards, shaman is in a good spot and doesn't need that much help this expansion. I am ok with good classes receiving bad/fun cards for 1 expansion in order to balance them.
Someone on reddit did a list on what legendaries are good to pull with this and it's honestly a pretty large amount. There are only a couple really bad ones and more highrolls than bad or moderate rolls. I'm not sure there is an exact deck it will go into but the card itself seems pretty good and may not see play simply due to it not fitting into current shaman decks.
Bandersmosh seems a lot better than other transforming cards in the past, but I think it will struggle for the same reasons that the previous ones did, which is massive inconsistency.
The pool of Legendary minions is smaller and on average better than random minions, spells or weapons, but I'm not currently convinced it will see serious play.
Seems cool though.
It's pretty ok, worst case scenario it's a 5 mana 5/5 which is not that bad .
Bad card. The only "random changeling" card that was every any good was Chameleos because at least he/she showed you what was in your opponent's hand. I'm sure there will be some highlight video of the handful of times this RNGed into the perfect card, but nah not going to bother with it.
it's a meme, but i cant wait for those trolden clips where this swings a whole match lol
Seems like the best version of the "Becomes another card" format that's failed to matter year after year.
Locking the value to 5-mana 5/5 regardless of the legendary makes this leagues better than past iterations of the concept (random weapons, completely random minions, random minion from your opponent's hand).
That being said? Not a great card, just better than the previous versions
Rage quitting: the best way to ensure your opponent knows they beat a giant baby.
Fun card but mostly for meme decks. Of course it can save you the game if you get the right minion at the right time, but since it is RNG dependent I don't think it will be competitive.
Memecard, but since I love RNG I hope I get this golden.
Yes...it's an rng card and in the right spot can be so strong, but maybe his strength is to remain a 5/5. A lot of leggendary have good effect with bad stat: this minion give us the good battlecry/deathrattle and decen stay.
Maybe this is a "sleeper" card
Seems bad, but there a lot of high rolls you could get with this card.
Way too many random legendaries for this to be useful.
Really RNG card, besides having to wait until turn 5,if it where less costy. If sees plays in any case would be really fun to watch.
So after Rogue and Warlock and Priest and Mage and Paladin, Shaman can play other classes' cards. (I'm not counting MSotG cards)
I like this kind of effects being random. If you can control them, you can abuse them. Better in this way.
Will go in my Archologist Shaman deck if I drop it from a pack. Not in my craft range.
Unpopular Opinion Incarnate
Looks like a meme, but imagine getting something like Hieereek in Shudder Shaman.
This might work but it might not since it's random you could get something crazy like trion or rag in wild or you could get mill house or nat pagle so its really just up to luck and getting shudderwock from this would be great since its cheaper and you can use the quest on it
Self proclaimed good at battlegrounds
This card seems to be stronger than Shifter Zerus, but it might still be too inconsistent to fit into competitive decks.
I think this card is getting slept on. Maybe not consistent, but can easily highroll a powerful card extremely early.
Many legendary cards will be totally busted at 5 cost 5/5, but do you wait until you get the "right" one? Too inconsistent, but a fun card indeed.
Meme-tier card. Basically falls into the same pitfalls as Shifter Zerus and Chameleos in that it is too unpredictable to make use of with any consistency. Certain to be the star of a Trolden clip or two.
Jaina is best waifu. Always.
Certainly more fun that Zerus. It's not even that bad with evolving, but now there's only Mutate in Standard so...
Sleeper legendary of the set? i like it a bit
This definitely seem very good to me. It might take some hits for being random, but there actually is pay off in getting a 5 mana 5/5 of most legendaries. It's way less likely to get something useless out of it and chance is you'll get some good RNG for the given situation - and we love some disgusting RNG in hearthstone. It keeps people on the edge :-)
Better than it looks. Depending on the Legendary a 5/5 it's pretty good. The only problem is having to wait til it transforms in a Legendary that you like.
Is this some kind of joke? No way this will see ANY competetive play. Why would you ever put this into your deck when you can use an actual card you want to play? Only excuse are fun and YOLO decks.
Fun and interactive game.
random legendaries are always good Kappa
