[Legend] Leprosy SMOrc Hunter

Just hit Legend countering a pretty ridiculous meta. It's been a while since a true SMOrc deck has existed and worked well. This is the deck that changes that! With all the Galakrond Shamans and Deathrattle Rogues running around the ladder, I felt it was time to punish their tempo plays with good ol' face damage. This deck kills them with 1,000 paper cuts really really fast. I always look for a 1-drop and will mulligan hard every time, I always keep Phase Stalker too (don't play it if it can get killed, the secret draw and summon is too good). The rest of the game is about weaving in hero powers and early minion damage since I usually would run into taunts around turn 5. I even played Leeroy Jenkins on curve to get damage in ahead of Dragon's Pack when necessary. You want to deal all your weapon damage and minion damage early and then focus on your direct deathrattles and other damage cards after they play a big taunt. Ignore almost every minion and just go face, you'll be surprised how many games it wins!

You can easily replace Dragonbane and Leeroy Jenkins with Wolfrider or Spring Rocket if you're going for a super budget version. Toxic Reinforcements is a must-have, it turns 6 damage of Hero powers into 12.

After many games and some experimentation, I dropped the mech package. This is the list I have landed on after many changes.

    https://outof.cards/hearthstone/decks/11159-smorc

    I removed:

    • -2 Bomb Toss (I found this to be mostly a 2-mana deal 2 damage since there aren't enough ways to "pop" the bomb)
    • -1 Spider Bomb (having a removal option that you don't have control over can lose you games, no targets to magnetize to)
    • -2 Hot Air Balloon (more aggressive 1-drops exist, this is nice to magnetize things to, but same problem as the Goblin Bombs from Bomb Toss, with only 2 magnetic minions in the list, this card was never exciting to play)
    • -2 Mecharoo (see Hot Air Balloon explanation)
    • -1 SN1P-SN4P (no reason for this guy with dropping all the other mechs)

    I added:

    • +1 Tracking (I love Tracking, nothing like pulling lethal from a Tracking top deck!)
    • +2 Timber Wolf (cheap 1-mana beast for Kill Command, or pairs great with the other beasts in the deck, especially Unleash the Hounds)
    • +2 Animal Companion (another beast for Kill Command, or face damage, or buff those hounds. This card has too many uses with the deck to not include)
    • +2 Blazing Battlemage (it's not flashy, but it's a 1-mana 2/2, helps get in face damage in the early game before Taunts show up)
    • +1 Ironbeak Owl (this guy has won me so many games. Both with Silencing a Taunt for lethal, or just being a beast to activate Kill Command. Not to mention ruining Rogue Deathrattles.)

I like these changes except for the timber wolf and animal companion. I don't think there are ever enough beasts on the field for timber wolf to ever grant more than +2 attack. And animal companion is too slow, I know that probably doesn't make sense to a lot of people but you only ever get huffer a third of the time and that is really the only good animal companion. I think you would be better off just running some other form of direct damage.

I think taking out the hot air balloon was a mistake. If you drop that guy on turn one then 99% of the time he will survive until at least turn 5. He is just way to useful not to have.

All those seem like good replacements to me! The mech package lost effectiveness over time as the meta evolved

It's countered by Board-Centric Aggro decks and Control decks pretty well. I built it to counter Shaman and now it needs a counter it seems.

Pure Paladin with a small healing package works as well (or just Heal Paladin in general). getting a King's Blessing onto Kangor just wins the game by itself and Amber Watcher is a beast as well.

Galakrond Warrior does quite decently as well although it sometimes end up being rushed down.

Something with taunt and armor counter it pretty well. I tried dragon druid it's work quite well and also highlander warrior .

I am SO looking forward to trying this out... never played a SMOrc deck and this looks like a ton of fun.  Even if I lose, it will still be a good time!

Just went 5-1 with this, taking down 3 shamans... even the loss felt satisfying :)

First of all : Thumbs Up for this deck!

As soon as Dragonbane was announced i wanted to try some sort of Hero Power / Face Hunter. After i saw Toxic Reinforcements i knew this deck will somehow show up in the Standard Meta.

So far i've tried a few different lists - kinda have to find the one i think i can make the legend run with :) - I like the idea building it with Mechs - you think Zilliax has a place in the deck? Maybe cut 1 Lifedrinker for it ?

The issue with Zilliax is that it is too expensive and doesn't go through taunts like Lifedrinker. You could certainly have success pushing this down a more Mech-heavy route, but you'd have to cut a few cards and it would be a little bit less of a Face deck and lose a bit of advantage in some of it's heavily-favored matchups (could work, but I haven't tried it).

        Thx for the Reply!

Anyone see any Shaman's lately? It's all been Hunters... (myself included)

This deck is amazing. I didn't have Dragonbane so I replaced it with a second Misdirection. I also decided to take out Spider Bomb for a second Tracking because I figured it was just to good in a deck like this.

I got from rank 9 to rank 5 with a 83% w/r after 18 games in around only two hours. I actually didn't see a lot of shamans, the most prominent class was Hunter. I guess everybody understood that Shaman loses bad to Hunters and maybe we didn't need the nerfs after all (please nobody kill me).

Mirror matches are starting to occur and are a little annoying. Basically comes down to whoever drew Toxic Reinforcements first.

Hi! I have a question, do you ever play Dragonbane on curve or only if you can hero power along with it?

It just depends on what I’m playing against, if my opponent is likely to have an answer I save it for use with the Hero Power (most often the case). If not,I’ll play it on curve and use it for tempo, sometimes there’s not another play.
