Galakrond's Awakening : Heroic Guide
Hello Fellow HearthStoners,
With the release of a new adventure mode comes - sometimes - the challenge of getting across a rough encounter and the ambition of conquering the heroic difficulty level to add yet an other card back to your collection. With the most recent solo content released, Galakrond's Awakening, came the enjoyment but also the underwhelming triumph with no glory - the first act being particularly easy to complete - I figure I could start up a thread ahead of time to exchange tips and tricks, if difficulty may rise : collectively, we are smarter (to some extend ; am I opening a parenthesis within a parenthesis? (Yes, but also no)).
If you didn't succeed on your first try, well ... we feel a tad sorry for you, but won't judge. Instead, we'll give advice and solutions for you to get ahead with your unquenchable thirst for card back.
For instance, I completed the Evil side with your almost typical Standard Galakrond Shaman deck, but with a focus on healing and infinite Shudderwock. I then completed the explorer side using Hinghlander Hunter - the Tier 1 standard list - nothing original. Bomb warrior was enjoyable but not fitted for every boss ... wouldn't suggest that one. Some others were suggesting on an other thread that the Wild side of your collection was the way to go ; Rez Priest being a power house, Exodia Mage being golden as well.
Stay tune for the second act and feel free to share your successful exploit and recipe!
We are gonna be rich!
And save the world!!

Struggle with Heroic Galakrond's Awakening? I got your back :
MechaThun Warlock - 1st try all 6 heroic week 1 matches. I tried a face deck right off the bat and that didnt work. so I switched to MechaThunLock and didnt lose a damn game!
Deck list:
https://outof.cards/hearthstone/decks/11947-galakronds-awakening-heroic-week-1-mechathun-warlock-100-wr
I've won all matches with Big priest, and the Game against the elemental that summon 4/4 freezed Minions with the Murozond the Infinite +King Togwaggle combo.
It sames that any competitive deck should win that adventures.
By The Holy Light!
I've plowed through the evil side with standard Quest Hunter. First match on the heroes side is finished too, haven't attempted anymore, but I don't foresee any issues. Quest Hunter seems like a solid choice. I'll probably play through them all again with some wild decks also.
I really hope next chapters are more challenging.. beat them all with cubelock quite easily.
I completed most of the bosses with this Mech Paladin Deck. Most of the bosses only took 2-3 tries.
Now for Avalanchan, I had to use my Armor Shudder Shaman to amass a bunch of armor and fatigue the thing.
Twitch for those of you who care.
Wouldn't it be faster to skip the armor part and use a life drinker?
He summons a bunch of Molten Giants and I really just had the idea of fatiguing him. The Molten Giants will eventually become so numerous they they'll do 56 damage in a single turn, so trying to heal a bunch only works so much.
You could always try using Glacial Shard to freeze everything, but Shudderwock will sometimes target enemies who are already frozen.
Twitch for those of you who care.
Week 2 : 3 new boss on each side ;
For starter, basically the same as previously - maybe a tad harder - but your usual wild suspect should do the trick.
On the E.V.I.L. side, the first and last encounter being slower, I'd suggest a control oriented list. As for the second one, the hero power shuffling 2 treasures in their deck for (0) mana is a little too strong to mess around, early pressure such as zoolock or mech paladin could do it for you.
About to see if the same applies to the explorer side of adventure now.
It does indeed! Just get yourself enough removal to clear those elusively not keyworded minions, so aim for class that have lots of mass removals - mage, shaman and priest - and you'll be good to go.

Week 3 : 6 new bosses - same old recipe still applies - or how Big Priest can wins it all
In most cases, rolling an Obsidian Statue out of Shadow Essence on turn 6 is gg.
Some Mass Dispel for ... reason (Silence) is also golden.
Archmage Vargoth & Resurrect do wonders together given a deathpool of statue that is.

Week 4 : 3 new bosses on each side, as well as 2 alternate ending ; both involving Galakrond!
Things are getting a little spicier for the final - but not the least - chapter's of Galakrond's Awakening.
Stay tune for some decklist, once I have accomplished it myself ; halfway there!
So far, on the EVIL side, Karl & Georges were easily defeated with Rez Priest.
Reno, not so easily, defeated as well using the same strategy.
And now trying some exodia's mage & Mecha'Thun lock for Galakrond

Any tips on defeating heroic Galakrond (E.V.I.L.)? I've only seen wild burn mage as a suggested deck but it has a lot of wild epics (same with wild big priest), code:
I've beaten most of the heroic bosses with a fast build of warlock mecha'thun, but it's just not fast enough to the insane tempo Galkrond gains by invoking.
Bring back old Warrior Control.
After many tries with other decks I gave up and made good old Freeze mage with Alexstrasza. Only non standard cards are Hall of famed Ice Block and Ice Lance. Worked on both heroic Galakrond boss fights.
Here´s the deck, if you want to try:

After numerous unsuccessful tries with Mecha'Thun-lock, I finally made it with Freeze mage. Hope you wont miss too many card ... here's my list

Hey there, just so you know, you can actually embed your decklist into your post by using its code : Invalid Deck ID , replacing the DeckID with the BBCode. Works just like the link, but even better :)
Struggle with Heroic Galakrond's Awakening? I got your back :
Paladins (both sides) used odd paladin cause of the theme, wanted to see interactions.. barely saw any.. anyway took me just a few tried to beat them.
Reno (E.V.I.L): beat him with King Togwaggle combo druid.
Togwaggle: Think I gone with stealing/silencing his candles with priest (?) don't remember he wasn't that hard. using Potion of Madness and Mass Dispel.
Rafaam (LOE) beat him with mechathun warlock (hint: use Sacrificial Pact on the imps to gain hp).
Galakround (E.V.I.L) tried many times with big priest(for 3 hours!) I almost beat him with big priest but I hero powered his face (cause I was tired ok..) and lost to 1 hp XD
Tried as well mill rogue and reno mage, but in the end I settled on freeze mage, took me 1 try with freeze mage (add all the freeze card to the deck, alex and also the new reno hero card).
Thank you, it worked :)

Thanks a lot, Horus! I did it on the first try with your deck and it was cheaper than others I had seen. Win-win.
Bring back old Warrior Control.
I used a (very expensive) Highlander Priest. Pushed Galakrond to fatigue. Lots of removal, lots of healing and taunt. Lots of tremendously terrible AI decisions. :D
Now you kids are probably saying to yourselves, "Hey Matt, how can we get back on the right track?"
Heroic Togwaggle was really easy using this one:

That last part got me laughing real good : so relatable ^^
Also, thanks for posting your deck lists. Having more options may certainly help other users
Cheers

Hello fellow Hearthstoners and other curious,
My list are getting some views and made it to the front page, so I guess there was a demand after all for such guide. It wasn't exactly the community experience and involvement that I was secretly hoping for, but definitely a convincing start. How knows, maybe the participation will be at the rendez-vous for the next adventure release, or maybe I'm too hasty to get it done and it is too soon just yet to call the experiment over with this G's awakening.
One thing that is for sure, after completing the Heroic adventure, is that the adventure was easier - and to some extend predictably easier to accomplish - than previous iterations. When things are put in their respective context, it makes it obvious that Naxx used to be hard given the available pool of card to complete the challenge, as for now - after countless overly powerful expansions, sets and synergies - the availability is off chart. Still, only Galakrond himself seemed to have been ''challenging'' as for the rest was mostly a walk in the park - a cool theme park with a fun story - but just a ride ...
The difficulty level could have been increased a notch or two, so your card back actually means something and not just a participation medal ; as the french would put it ''À vaincre sans péril on triomphe sans gloire'' which roughly translates to ''A victory with no peril is a vain triumph with no glory''.
That was my two cents.
Thank you for your attention

Used Mecha'thun Warlock for all, with some adjustments for the "harder ones" (Ooze, etc). Was a fun story though :)
For Heroic Galakrond I used a variation of rez priest deck. Slotted in a shadowform, mindblasts, and Alexstraza. Ended up surviving him into fatigue and kept a taunt wall breathing. Gave him the mind blast for the final blow.
A friend of mine and me are trying to defeat Galakrond Heroic with only standard cards - we usualy only play standard and therefor we want to defeat Galakrond without any Wild cards - or at least without Wild Legendarys or Epics!
Any suggestions - so far we've tried different builds of Rezz Priest, Highlander Mage, Control Mage, Control Priest, Highlander Paladin, Highlander Rogue. Also tested some Zoolocks and aggro Decks but Control seems to be the best shot.
Freeze Mage was the best so far, but without some wild cards like Ice Block it is realy hard :)

That's a seriously good question, and a hard one too. The first few wings I managed with mostly Standard-ladder-ready lists, but when things became harder, I was naturally going to make the most of my extended wild collection ... I know some said that they Milled the last bosses to death, but I now wonder if it can be achieved with standard cards only ... I will have to look into it, as without insane late game value and early means to survive till the later stages, it's going to be an extra challenge to defeat Galakrond. Control would also definitely be my top pick

Alright, so I think I got it:
You will need Knife Juggler with Radiant Elemental along with Test Subject, Embalming Ritual & Holy Smite ; from there, you will be able to deal infinite damage to your subject while juggler ping for free!
... oh wait, Radiant Elemental is Un'Goro tho ...

For whatever reason, I was having a pretty hard time beating Heroic Togwaggle, so I thought it might be fun to mess with him using Grizzled Wizard and Sir Finley Mrrgglton. Turns out that Grizzled Wizard is even worse than a meme, because it didn't work. I sat there thinking the game was delayed, but alas, the functionality was broken.
I ended up beating him anyway (thank you Kobold Stickyfinger) but it still made me sad.
I crafted grizzled wizard with Emperor Thaurissan in mind. I was sorely disappointed.
Carrion, my wayward grub.
Thanks for the reply - we already managed to kill him with standard only cards :)
We made a Standard Freeze Mage and got him down with after a few tries - once you get lucky enough to draw all your freeze Spells you just have to hit him with Alex and Fireballs / Pyro etc
