Polygon has leaked the new expansion! Wow, what idiots!! The article that was leaked has since been removed.
Here is everything we know so far about Ashes of Outland. (Polygon referred to the expansion as Ashes of Outlands which makes no sense since its Outland and not Outlands)
- The expansion launches April 7.
- Demon Hunter is a new class and we've got 20 cards to showcase.
- Priests are getting an overhaul.
- Outcast, the new Demon Hunter Keyword gives the card a bonus if it is cast while being the right-most or left-most card in your hand.
New Legendary Card - Kael'thas Sunstrider
Quote From Polygon The first piece of Ashes of Outlands will drop on Tuesday, March 17. Players can log in and receive the Legendary card Kael’thas Sunstrider. When Kael’thas is on the board, the third spell cast every turn is free.
New Class: Demon Hunter
Hearthstone is getting a new class - The Demon Hunter! Illidan Stormrage is finally getting his time in the spotlight.
- Hero Power: Demon Claws, a 1-Mana ability that grants 1 Attack
Quote From Chadd Nervig [Demon Hunters] don’t have much in the way of card generation, but you can run them out of resources,” says Chadd Nervig, game designer on Hearthstone. “They have card draw, but not generation, so you can fatigue them. They’re susceptible to hard removal. They also just don’t have much in the way of hard removal themselves; if they want to clear a big minion of yours, they have to use their face to do it. They don’t have any assassinate or polymorph cards.
Demon Hunter Cards
These are all the cards revealed so far for the Demon Hunter class.
Basic Demon Hunter Cards
Ashes of Outland Demon Hunter Cards
Demon Hunter Tokens
Priest Overhaul
Priests are getting an overhaul!
Quote From Chadd Nervig There were aspects of their basic and classic sets that we weren’t planning to support, so they were sort of misleading Priests and taking up space, Things like Prophet Velen, which is an iconic Legendary for Priests, sounded really cool … but really was only used for [one-turn kill strategies], which we weren’t planning to support. These cards are now in the Hall of Fame, and can be used in the game’s Wild mode.

Why print less when you can print more? I think they would probably increase the number of cards per expansion.
For question 4, that's what one of the italian streamers who attended the summit said. There's gonna be something in it for the FTP community.
Shadow Madness is buffed, but Smite and Shield... not exactly. Smite only hits minions now, making it a great removal card, but it was historically only really sent at the opponent's face. Shield meanwhile no longer draws a card, which is a big deal.
I'm sure we'll get the basic cards for free, probably by leveling up the class as usual. Don't count on the rest of them though.
I half expect the number of neutrals in each expansion to be reduced to accommodate the new class. You could easily cut out 10 of them each set and no one would be upset.
Smite is a straight up buff. It was only used face in OTK decks (mainly Razakus). Aside from that it was a lackluster removal spell (and also the only card to have an identical copy, being Arcane Shot). Now it's the strongest 1-mana removal spell in the game, meaning that you can never stick any 1-drop against Priest, which could be huge.
Shield is the only real nerf and who knows what Auctioneer Shenanigans we're going to get into.
I also suspect Neutrals are going to get cut....it'S not like we need them anyways. What's the point of having that many when most of them are deliberately designed to be pointless outside of Arena.
Probably too much to expect the dhunter's cards being free, but I'm keeping my hopes alive until they confirm it. It bears mention that if all these cards are obtained via the classic card pack, its going to piss many many players. Probably from the new expansion, but again, we'll wait and see.
0 mana power word: shield? Dear Lord.
No card draw anymore.
Scarlet Subjugator best new Priest card?
Can anyone explain to me why Wrathspike Brute is a demon?
So far as I can tell the illidari are in a weird spot between demon and non-demon, and I was always unsure whether Illidan Stormrage was rightly classified as a demon. Maybe its the wings? Similar to how dragons aren't dragons when in humanoid form (e.g. Wrathion), maybe illidari are demons when in their demonic, winged form.
He's got the wings, horns, cloven hoofs, tattoos that glow in the dark cuz of FEL ENERGY.
He's like, HALF DEMON at least.
sure, but why are some of them not demons in the news set? If they want to be consistent either all of them are Demons or none of them.
She's specifically in Vengeance Metamorphosis (Meta being a Demon Hunter ability that lets you turn into a demon to gain bonuses). Havoc Meta gives you wings, Vengeance Meta covers you in spikes. That's why.
April Fool tavern brawl mb?
To all persons who are saying they whant new classes in HS:
"You think you do, but you don't!"
Demon Hunter seems to be a really aggressive class, how will other classes that try to be aggressive compete?
but looking at what's available Demon hunter seems to lack the AOE buff cards like DRUID and even Warlock to a lesser degree, and their mechanics seem to REQUIRE minion sacrifice to activate.
Also lore savvy board members WHO's Natalie Seline?
Yeah, a lot of their class cards are very aggro focused on first look. But that 7 mana weapon for one seems very control based. I could see a world where you could use class cards for early game and card draw to establish early board control. Then later use larger and powerful neutrals and this weapon to switch tactics later in the game to a more control based focus to keep your early board control while still building power on board with hero power and more minions.
Would make for an interesting play style. Will need to see more cards to really know what can be done.

oh hey thanks, I'm at work and it's chaos with them trying to get us ready to work from home
So, no achievements, no economy rebalance, no UI-2020 change, just another class to refund even more money. Bli$$ard is always on point! :thumb up
Blizzard: Here's this new thing we've been working on for weeks. We hope you like it!
Forums: Bullshit! You weren't working on the thing that I wanted you to be working on, or if you were you didn't do it in the way I think you should have done it even though I have zero internal data and playtesting with the new content, therefore you're all corporate shills only trying to get our $$$$$$$!!! Activision ruined my life!
