Polygon has leaked the new expansion! Wow, what idiots!! The article that was leaked has since been removed.
Here is everything we know so far about Ashes of Outland. (Polygon referred to the expansion as Ashes of Outlands which makes no sense since its Outland and not Outlands)
- The expansion launches April 7.
- Demon Hunter is a new class and we've got 20 cards to showcase.
- Priests are getting an overhaul.
- Outcast, the new Demon Hunter Keyword gives the card a bonus if it is cast while being the right-most or left-most card in your hand.
New Legendary Card - Kael'thas Sunstrider
Quote From Polygon The first piece of Ashes of Outlands will drop on Tuesday, March 17. Players can log in and receive the Legendary card Kael’thas Sunstrider. When Kael’thas is on the board, the third spell cast every turn is free.
New Class: Demon Hunter
Hearthstone is getting a new class - The Demon Hunter! Illidan Stormrage is finally getting his time in the spotlight.
- Hero Power: Demon Claws, a 1-Mana ability that grants 1 Attack
Quote From Chadd Nervig [Demon Hunters] don’t have much in the way of card generation, but you can run them out of resources,” says Chadd Nervig, game designer on Hearthstone. “They have card draw, but not generation, so you can fatigue them. They’re susceptible to hard removal. They also just don’t have much in the way of hard removal themselves; if they want to clear a big minion of yours, they have to use their face to do it. They don’t have any assassinate or polymorph cards.
Demon Hunter Cards
These are all the cards revealed so far for the Demon Hunter class.
Basic Demon Hunter Cards
Ashes of Outland Demon Hunter Cards
Demon Hunter Tokens
Priest Overhaul
Priests are getting an overhaul!
Quote From Chadd Nervig There were aspects of their basic and classic sets that we weren’t planning to support, so they were sort of misleading Priests and taking up space, Things like Prophet Velen, which is an iconic Legendary for Priests, sounded really cool … but really was only used for [one-turn kill strategies], which we weren’t planning to support. These cards are now in the Hall of Fame, and can be used in the game’s Wild mode.

I'm still a bit "iffy" on whether this is true or not. Some of the Priest changes seem a bit dodgy to me, a 0 cost Power Word: Shield seems a bit too much, but then it does trade off the Draw a Card. The Holy Smite 1 cost for three damage, Shammy has that Lightning Bolt and it overloads their Mana for 1. Also all these cards, some now Cheaper than before, to buff health, yet no mention that Inner Fire being removed, there's just a lot of red flags to me. So I'm not going to Hold my breath until it's officially announced. Would be interesting to have a new Class though, wonder if Death Knight and Monk will ever get added.
Edit: The other thing that gives me reason to question, all other Hero Powers cost 2 mana, but they give the Demon Hunter a 1 cost, seems inconsistent to me.
Nope,
since with lightning bolt you can also target Hero,
not with holy smite anymore
Loving the priest changes
Demon Hunter has my attention. It seems like it's gonna be an aggro/tempo/mid range class. I would like to see it counter balance rogue, Hunter and shaman.
Kinda weird that they're adding the Demon Hunter after the approach they took with Death Knight...
I was thinking something similar, didn't they say it they weren't going to add new Classes when asked, "Why no DK, or Monk?", then to skip directly to DH. At first I thought this was a joke when I first heard it this morning, my mind playing tricks on me waiting for coffee to brew. I mean it's too early for April 1st pranks, so it can't be that. And you know if this does come to pass, people will be asking for a true Death Knight, and possibly a Monk, what then? I think they might be opening a Pandora's Box here.
It's almost three years back. HS changed a lot and its directors as well.
Is it out of season April Fools joke? While DH cards look ok,the priest's basic cards look way to overpower to land in Basic(Classic) set.
I had the same thoughts. I remember years ago when the Dev's said they would not add another class because it would be too hard to catch up to the other 9. The changes to Priest seem way too strong. It definitely feels like an April Fool's joke, but without seeing the full vision of the next meta, it is hard to know. The power of the other (now 9) classes may be too high for priest to contend with in the new and upcoming meta, so the changes were necessary.
I guess we will find out in a few hours what Blizzard has in store for Hearthstone.
Flavor-wise, I am not really excited by DH (I'd have preferred Monk).
And I am sad that the Priest overhaul didn't add any new Power Word: X or Holy Word: Y, again, for flavour.
And who's this Seline, where's my good boi Faol(undead)!
Finally, I wish Friars were included into the Priest theme. Friars are cool!
But well, the overhaul is still for the best I guess. Better than before probably.
Let's see what's left with the release.
Read better my comment.
I said Power Word or Holy Word.
I purposedly left Shadow Word out because we already have a bunch of them between Standard and Wild (and because I think Shadow Priest is overdone within the class).
Now that you mention it, you're totally right. I'm sorry.
MY BODY IS READY
Is this.....Legit yet?
Consider that all those who went to the HS Summit almost a month ago haven't taken position on this leak yet. Totally. Kibler is like: "ok you can talk about whatever you want, but I'll wait for tomorrow's announcement because hype because effort the team put bla bla bla".
Unless they change something in the remaining 5/6 hours (which I doubt), I dare to say it is all legit.
This is the earliest April fools prank yet.
I remember, several years ago developers told, that they are not going to add an additional class. I'm quite happy they changed their minds about it.
That's real hype. Not a typical kind of update (new set of cards, HoF update, dungeon type thing), but a new class, hopefully they will not stop on it.
they had to, we have so many TCG that do things better than hs, I'm only sad bacause I was hopeful for a illidan skin for rogue
Where is Heathstone 2.0 ???
