Extremely minor gripe: I like the card's effect, but not its name. Combustion is a Fire Mage buff that shrouds them in flames, so I'd expect a card like Combustion to have a Spell Damage element or, even more specifically, to buff Mage spells that involve fire (too specific to be playable, I'm sure). But even if this card doesn't turn out to be good, I like cards that make us think about positioning. I also like that it only costs 3, so Mage can flexibly remove 1+ minions before Fireball/Polymorph.
Holy shit! How is no one talking about that amazing reveal video?! That was awesome!
Only good with spell damage. Frost bolt is ALWAYS better than this. People aren't playing Bloodfen Raptors anymore...
Also if the only way to make aggro use their brain is to give their opponents tools to sometimes deal with their endless spam of BS, it's not good design in my opinion. You would think it makes the aggro player think about playing around these kinds of cards, but it's more like arena where they'll just play like normal and hope their opponent doesn't have removal. Same as always. It's what happened with crushing walls, it's what happened with rolling fireball, it'll happen with this too.
Crushing Walls came in way too late and Rolling Fireball as well, and it wasnt always clear where it would go. This is a 3 mana card that can kill enemy 1 and 2 turn play at the same time. Big difference.
Those kind of cards are what is needed for the game; powerfull and yet you can play around it, increasing by quite a lot the interactivity.
Cool concept, rewards positioning, overall fantastic card
Random interesting side note, the phrase "both neighbors" being used instead of "adjacent minions"
Wonder if this is intentional changing up of the card text or not
maybe they think people get confused over the word adjacent.
Despite their actual viability, I love cards that require positioning: if it's a buff, you must play while thinking about your future moves; if it's a removal, it is your opponent that must keep it in mind.
If you fall trap into one of these cards you can't blame anyone but yourself, and that's why I like them so much: they reward constant thinking while playing the game.
Interesting card! I am sure it will fit in well into my highlander mage deck!
good anti-aggro card
[Hearthstone Card (Shadowbolt) Not Found] cries in a corner.
Decent card, but Mage spells are quite competitive for deck slots...
Was thinking the same thing - but of course you can't compare cards from different classes.
Yeah, true that, but (3) for 4 is pretty poor in general.
This one has a good upside that makes the card infinitely better, yet I'm not sure we're going to see this card as a 2x in meta decks.
Came here to say this, then couldn't remember the card name haha
Decent-looking board clear.
Small board clear and makes opponents consider board positioning. Even better if you can drop with spell damage in play, or potentially combo with a good spellburst effect.
So its somewhat like a reverse Betrayal where its more useful for the middle minion to be the weakest, or at least have the lowest health.
The cost is a little too high for a card your opponent can play around for days, but since mage has few early game AoE spells, this might just make the inclusion.
I love this. Forces different trades to maximize damage up to 7. But 4 for 3 in a pinch is also fine!
I can't wait for my burgle rogue to get this and then punish my opponents for not positioning properly!
