  • Hearthstone's Phase 2 of the Roadmap - What To Expect Starting in August 2020 Including Expansion 2 Theories

There are still some Classic cards that need to be replaced, but on the other hand the devs themselves stated that Whizbang will stay as a Wild-only card.

I like the mirror stats of Davy and the ship. Summoning the Sailor is a good idea. The watermark fits well and is a nice alternative to the Palm Tree most of us used. You found great art, they are fitting together very well.

    Concerns:

    1) It's still a huge chunk of stats. You'll get 13/13 over 3 bodies for 7 mana! That's almost Dragonqueen Alexstrasza's powerlevel for 2 mana less. I think I'd prefer the effect to be a Deathrattle, which would also make it easier to fulfill the condition because Davy himself counts toward it.

    2) Davy's art looks a little too big, is it possible to zoom out a tiny bit? If not, at least try to move him a bit to the right - the legendary dragon's horn is too close to Davy's head for my taste.

    3) Are you sure you want The Flying Dutchman to summon a sailor at the end of each turn? That way, your opponent has to deal with 2 of them each of their turns if he can't remove the ship the turn after it was summoned (one sailor at the end of your opponen'ts turn, one at the end of yours). That's really powerful!

    4) While the flavor is there if you look at the art and the effects, I don't see a reason why this should be a warlock card. I guess that can't be helped, though.

    Great article as usual Flux.

Though I've given up on proposing what's coming up as I am always totally wrong.

And even though it's been 3 months I still am trying to cope with the loss of Whizbang the Wonderful from standard.  He deserves to be moved to classic damn it!

Doom in the Tomb was not a terrible idea (quit the opposite if I can say so), but I dare to say that they thought it out pretty poorly.

Changing cards after one month would have been okay, but choosing them with more care would have been fine too.

N'Zoth, the Corruptor and Evolve gave birth to some really degenerate builds.

Ok, I think I have finally perfected the card, but I want to ask for feedback one more time before submitting.

Maiev is just a unique resource that can perform a few different functions, but she's hardly a key card. Same with Vulpera Scoundrel, but it's worth noting how many other decks use her; a very versatile card. As for Crystal Merchant, I think it's worth the dust if you think you'll be playing the deck a fair bit, it's a solid support card.

As expected, I've had a lot of fun playing this deck, but limited success. Good luck!

  • This Week's Tavern Brawl is "Rumbledome" and Features Dual-Class Heroes & Unique Weapons

I didn't lose a single game, played twice against Elise. Kriziki was such an easy pick, all those Taunts and the spells are super useful as well.

What nobody seems to get is to SAVE Weapon Durability. Everyone sees the HP button is active and they just smash face and have no removal left. Genius plays out there

Here's two versions of my first idea (first one should probably Epic):

Hopefully this week I actually get to upload. Will offer some feedback later today.

I never post in these Custom Cards Threads, but that card flavour is really good. :)

I prefer the 1st version, (I agree, it should be Epic) but can lead to problems, with 2 or 3 vampire pirates, you will devour any pirate that you summon (good flavour, awfull interaction for players)

  • Group Therapy! Need to blow off some steam? Mega salty? Here's the place!

That's funny, I'm playing Odd DH in Wild again and I've run into nothing but control decks: Reno Priest, Reno Mage, whatever. They ALWAYS had Reno Jackson by turn 6 or 7.

Meanwhile, I switch to Tempo DH in Standard and I run into three straight Enrage/Control Warriors, who always managed to execute the Risky Skipper-Armorsmith combo just when they're in single-digit health.

Played 20 games with DH, just won 7 of them. Gaaaaaah I just wanna spam the class for 500 wins, I'm so close just let me have this goddammit

  • Dealing with Sunk Cost Effect in HS

I have an incredibly addictive personality and so when it comes to quitting things I've sunk time into, I struggle a lot. With card games, I tend to have periods where I am really into them, followed by periods of burnout, only to eventually get back into them the next time something major comes to them. This pattern has happened to me for both Hearthstone and MTG for about 7-8 years. The way I see it unless something major happens that redefines the entire game and makes everything you have obsolete, you can take breaks and when you do finally come back it'll only take a week or two to catch up with possibly months of 'missed content'.  Granted it helps that I've gotten enough of a fleshed-out collection, but even when I was just starting off, it never felt like there was some new massive change that got rid of all my previous grinding.

As for a game that I did leave 100%, I used to be huge on Destiny 2, played it pretty much daily for several hours for about an entire year. I was so into that I ended up writing a 28-page Google doc all about one of the weapon types. Eventually, though it just gets to the point where it felt more like a chore to play every day and so I just dropped it. At first, I constantly wanted to go back to the game but after like a week or two, I didn't feel like I needed to keep up with any of it anymore.

If you need help dropping Hearthstone, I'd recommend trying to pick something else up in the meantime that doesn't use daily login/play rewards, like playing a singleplayer campaign, watching a show, or picking up a new book.

I hope it isn't dual-class constructed. As fun as that may be, it is my belief that it is more fun when it is sprinkled throughout the year as a treat instead of a permanent game mode.

Though, part of that might be me being afraid of the changes I'd need to make to support dual-class decks on the site :P

  • This Week's Tavern Brawl is "Rumbledome" and Features Dual-Class Heroes & Unique Weapons

mostly because elise has access to the most overpowered weapon in the game. Elise's Machete practically seals games all on its own.

  • This Week's Tavern Brawl is "Rumbledome" and Features Dual-Class Heroes & Unique Weapons

Either the cards are completely different from standard, and/or they change the hero powers completely. I can't imagine team5 balancing the entire sets of expansions just to fit in this dual-class concept.

Not that Im complaining if it turns out that way, just trying to imagine every tier 1 deck being something + dhunters.

I decided to re-do Davy Jones's ability. He is really flavorful and interesting, but the infinite Stealth and all of the stats were too scary. I decided to re-do his ability to make him a powerful build around card, and hopefully not too OP.

Do you think the "give it Taunt" part is necessary? I wasn't going to put it there but otherwise it doesn't feel like enough of a reward for building a Pirate Warlock deck. Also, do you think I should change it to a Battlecry instead of Deathrattle?

My biggest concern is that The Flying Dutchman will be able to summon Davy Jones himself, and his Deathrattle will trigger again when he dies (and giving him Taunt will only make that a bigger problem).

I hadn't considered that. I could always add a line that says "can't summon Davy Jones" but that feels kind of like cheating and also just lazy design. One thing I could do is have it summon this guy:
