  • Why is no one playing Lucian/Senna?

It looks like you're relying heavily on Zed for your deaths--how consistent is that?  If not very: you might want to consider Silent Shadowseer.

I think Vanguard Redeemer is must-have.  If you're getting consistent ally deaths it should be a 3/3 plus draw for 3 mana; if you're not getting consistent deaths, you probably want to retool your deck until you are as its so critical for Lucian.

Finally, Silverwing Vanguard might be worth consideration.  You don't have any hand/deck buff, but the fact that there's 2 of them plus you can get some interesting interactions (e.g., snipe a troublesome elusive, or if there's a single big blocker that would kill your Lucian you can use them to chain-challenge it).

  • Mythgard - Midseason Balance Delayed

The next Mythgard balance patch is getting a slight delay.

    Midseason Balance
    2/28/2020 9:43:52 PM
    Dev Blog: Midseason Balance

The midseason balance patch will be delayed to early/mid-March. This is due to how much the purple balance patch affected the state of the game. Overall we are happy with how the purple patch impacted the meta and has balanced purple's win and play rates with the other factions.

That being said, there are still a few areas in Mythgard that we are planning to change to balance the power levels of the factions further. In the midseason patch, we will be aiming to make a smaller number of impactful changes to create better color parity while retaining each faction's unique playstyle and flavor.

Have a great weekend, and remember to follow our dev blog and socials for some exciting articles and announcements as we get closer to the midseason patch!

In fact, Rekindler could make a good canary in the coal mine for detecting troublesome Champions in general.

This is a pretty shocking suggestion. Leaving a card in the game as a "canary in the coal mine" is a disastrous way to design a game. This design philosophy basically means that every time the balance team screws up in a way that interacts with that card (in this example, makes a broken Champion), the resulting problematic metagame is worse than it needs to be.

If this were Hearthstone, I'd be inclined to agree, because those guys have no qualms about letting a bad meta fester for months at a time.

But Riot is committed to biweekly patches, so by the time a broken card surfaces and becomes truly oppressive, it's probably only another week at most before it's corrected.

Anyone have any suggestions for changes to make to this? I'm super up-in-the-air with adding more followers or not since the Chain Vests and Radiant Strike's are SO good for early game field control.

Dawnspeakers is an odd choice for a deck so light on minions. Maybe instead you should have a couple of Elusives since you don't have a ton of ways to deal with those.

  • Why is no one playing Lucian/Senna?

    I wouldn't say "no one": https://youtu.be/aIhsxeMqppk

It does feel great to benefit from the deaths of your own units, and it can be super frustrating to play against.

    Quote From Khaostheory1980

    You would think that!

I'm currently in a ticket tennis match with their customer service. I paid through Amazon coins so they cannot refund via mobile payments apparently.

They are offering the remove the cards and dust (I d/e any of the duplicates before I realised) AND remove 500g for the privilege... (yes remove not refund me 500g), so essentially I would have paid £8.99 to lose 500g. You couldn't even make it up...

I'll post the conversation if I don't get anywhere with them, it's not a lot of money but it's the principle now.

OMFG! Removing some of your golds?! As if they were doing you a favor and THEY needed to be compensated ... *smh

Sorry to burst your bubble, but I think those are just examples of work the new artists they hired can do. Which is a shame, because THAT'S AN ANGEL MADE OF HANDS!

My money for the first expansion's theme is still on agriculture.

  • Let's talk about Hecarim

    Quote From FortyDust

Regarding The Rekindler, I don't think it would be appropriate to nerf it unless you can come up with a couple of other decks where it's truly oppressive.

If Hecarim is pretty much the only time Rekindler is a problem, that points to the real problem being Hecarim.

While there's no question that the Hecarim/The Rekindler combo is uniquely frustrating (I suspect in part due to the overall power level of SI to begin with), I don't think it's inappropriate to think about whether each piece of that combo is itself broken.

The average 6-drop in this game is about a 5/6, so when The Rekindler's play effect triggers, it's basically guaranteed to put stats on the board that are at least vanilla and given you an effective "7th Champion" in a game that wants you to build around Champion cards. This effect is best abused with Hecarim because he makes The Rekindler a 6 mana 14/14 spread across 4 bodies in a game with fairly limited removal and AOE tools. There are other champions that get close to that too, and have relevant keywords to make them attractive choices for abuse (Tryndamere or Darius, for example). They're not as good though, by some margin, so they aren't being abused yet. But if all they do is change Hecarim, I expect you'll just see one of them take over for these decks.

In fact, Rekindler could make a good canary in the coal mine for detecting troublesome Champions in general.

  • Blizzard's Dean Ayala Talks About No Plans for Wild Nerfs & Asks the Community About Rotating Formats

That certainly seems to be the mindset they are taking with LoR too. It is no doubt a noble approach to take, and it is easier to follow through if you start with it.

In HS, the class system is both a blessing and a curse for this. By keeping class cards entirely separate (thief cards in rogue and priest notwithstanding) they get to really push what classes are good at with clearly over-tuned cards like Cloud Prince or Vilespine Slayer, and they can do so without wreaking havoc because the decks are guaranteed to have weaknesses in other areas. At least, that's how it works in Standard...

Now that Wild has been around for long enough the OP synergy cards have stacked up enough to make decks that are really one dimensional but are so good in that 'dimension' that anything not exploiting the deck's weakness just sees a bonkers OP deck. Wild secret mage is a great example of this, but is by no means the only example.

    This throws up 2 questions:

    1. is this OK?
    2. how does one go about fixing it if it is not OK?

The answer to question 1 depends on who you ask and is why I think having a rotating wild format would be good. Question 2 is harder to answer imo. No one disagrees with mage being good at secrets, so why should mage secret synergy not be strong? If you tone them down, you have to keep doing this else they'll stack back up again, leading to this weird process of nerfing powerful cards when they move to Wild, with an equally weird outcome where no class it that great at anything.

Perhaps that would be fine, or (as is likely) I have missed lots of better options. But I personally think it would be simpler and better to leave Wild as it is, but introduce a new format to better represent what half the people want Wild to be.

  • My progress in Mythgard

    Staff

Hey, folks! I'm going to use this thread to show my progress, mainly whenever I hit 100% on a given rarity. This should be a good indicator of how F2P friendly the game is. Here's my investment in the game at the time of writing:

    • Almost 110 hours of playtime.
    • 20 packs bought with the 10$ starter bundle.
    • 13 packs bought with money (it would be 16 without the gems I spent on the ice board :P).
    • ~ 15-20 packs from giveaway.
    • ~ 10-15 chests averaging 2 packs each (stats pulled out of my butt).
    • 11 achievements earned, level 17, MAAT 10.
    • Completed faction missions.
    • Started playing around 5 months ago

    And here's my completion rate:

  • Let's talk about Hecarim

I just wonder how did he not get hit when they nerfed elusives, wonder what's the actual win rate of decks containing 3 hecarims.

  • Let's talk about Hecarim

Hecarim needs more than a single nerf, in order both to fix is power level and the combo with The Rekindler and The Harrowing. Since the other two cards are not particulaty oppressive per se, I'll focus on the hero:

    • Make him a 4/5 - he's a very offensive minion so he shouldn't be too resilient, but enough to be out of range from the more common removals and cheap minions' attack power.
    • Remove Overwhelm - he already puts alone tons of damage on the board with his summons and buff, he doesn't need to also be able to trample.
    • Reduce his Spectral Riders stats to 2/2 - they're free and get buffed automatically when he's leveled up, they put too much pressure atm.

Maybe there are also other SI cards that may requires nerfs, but for now Hecarim seems to be the most problematic.

  • Blizzard's Dean Ayala Talks About No Plans for Wild Nerfs & Asks the Community About Rotating Formats

I realize these are very different games but I would enjoy a mind set similar to the one that Riot takes with League of Legends. I remember an employee there saying something along the lines of. "We don't think perfection is possible but a goal doesn't need to be possible for us to work toward it." Once again I don't think they are the same games but think of it in the sense that all the champions in league are different moving parts in a machine. These parts are constantly altered to make the machine different in some way. The same goes for cards in wild, these could constantly be altered to make things a little different. Once again the dust return stuff becomes an issue there but in my opinion dust return shouldn't even be a thing since it inhibits balance. For the final time I am not comparing Hearthstone to LoL I am comparing creative mind sets for the developers of them. The product doesn't have to be seen as finished ever, things can always be up for change and in fact in a game that is an online long term game as opposed to one you finish and move away from, that should be how it's seen.

  • Let's talk about Hecarim

Played about 10 games today and almost all of them were against SI/ Demacia decks. That deck is basically braindead. All of the units are fearsome, so you can't low block them, and the game is basically over when Hecarim comes out. You always burn all your resources and then he just comes back next round with full mana and a rally.

SI spells give them every tool they'd ever need Frenzied Scitterer needs a nerf, Arachnoid horror needs to be 3 mana, wraithcaller needs to be 5 mana, glympse needs to be 3 mana. The whole board gets swarmed because the deck is so fast and cheap

I made the deck myself and it honestly doesn't even feel fair for my opponents. You can run elusive down so hard that it's sad.

The game is borderline unplayable right now.

  • [Game] Card Treasure Hunt (The Resurrection Attempt)

  • Why is no one playing Lucian/Senna?

Not sure why no one seems to be playing this deck right now! It's insanely aggressive, insanely fast, and INSANELY fun! Highly recommend it for laddering pre-platinum! Pretty positive this is much better than the Noxus & PiltoverZaun aggro decks floating around!

true u can counter it. but im gonna be honest decks that run dirty rat are kinda slow, and ive had plenty of games when im a turn from winning with Mechathun and i look at my hand and i have literally 4 to 5 other minions besides the old god. they would have to be very lucky with the rat even with Brann combo
