This is a really interesting card, but not because it's any good. I just really like that its Discover pool will change significantly with each expansion release. Will that ever give people a reason to run it in a serious deck? No. But it's a neat swiss army knife and maybe, you know, sometimes you just want to have fun.
Knee-jerk reaction is that this card is REALLY good for aggressive decks. A solid amount of stats for the Cost (if you count the Nerubian it leaves behind after it dies) and since it's a sticky body I like its chances against Control decks. Not going to be the engine, but it's nice support to keep the pressure on.
Cryostasis on a stick, but I don't see this doing anyone any favors. Anyone interested in Moorabi Shaman in Wild? Is there enough support for that yet, or do we need to wait six more years?
A slightly win-more card for Pirate-heavy decks (great for Patches DH if that's a thing) with just about no use in a non-tribal deck (which is fine). I think we see this, and I think Pirates are back in a big way, baby.
Pretty damn good Pirate, with some nice synergy for Patches in DH. It's obviously worse than Ship's Cannon for Pirate decks specifically but still has some utility and should be a good include for aggressive decks of all shapes and sizes.
Beast Hunter might want this as an option for summoning/resurrecting. It's a big body if you can get it out without triggering the Battlecry (which no one will ever convince me isn't a reference to "the incident" in Oregon in the '70s).
Incindius - The eruptions will hit all enemies for 1 (in effect 2) damage, but if this card stays beyond one turn then they upgrade in damage every turn. Only thing I like about this card is that it really doesnt matter if incindius is dead, the eruptions will still exist in your deck to provide swing turns whenever you draw them. The problem is that its still a 6 mana card with no taunt/rush and whether you draw those eruptions is really down to the almight rnjesus. Most turns in hearthstone standard dont tend to last longer than 9 turns so in reality if you dont draw those eruptions in 2 turns you basically just played a oasis snapjaw for 6 mana. Still, good enough card to see play.
King Tide - Okay, so you get to play one big spell for 5 mana the next turn, or alternatively, play them both at turn 9. Your druid opponent instantly concedes. I guess for that reason it can work, depending on the big spells to be revealed this expansion.
Adaptive Amalgam - Signature card art excellent. Card however, not so much. Its a card you either build around or just not bother because what it is most of the time is just a tunneling weasel that'll likely screw you at a later turn.
Beached Whale - Its a card everyone would actively look to cheat out because 20 health with taunt is about as nuts as it gets. The most convincing is perhaps with thunderbringer, but I still dont think it sees much play. Red Herring is a 4/12 at the same cost and sees little to no play, and more to the point even if you managed to cheat it out, then what? Still need to win the game. And its not like hearthstone 2024 doesnt have a plethora of options to destroy minions anyway.
Terrible Chef - Nice concept. Just play the egg instead which is one mana less, it'll make more sense.
Hozen Roughhouser - Its innocent looking but its actually just rokara printed exclusively for pirate decks. It'll likely do well assuming that pirate decks actually are playable
Cryopractor - Cryostasis never saw any play. What makes anyone think this would?
One of the notable aspects of Mahjong is its addictive nature, drawing players in with its blend of strategy, quick thinking, and the satisfying challenge of assembling winning combinations from the tiles.
Don't think I can handle another MOBA...let alone a Battle Royale one! League of Legends was a fun time, but it was also the kind of game that could damage friendships if you're not careful (as it did for me, in the long run). Now that I'm basically by myself, getting into one at this point feels impossible.
If I'm gonna pick up any true multiplayer-only game in the near future, it'll be Marvel Rivals - seems like more of a traditional Team Deathmatch situation, with characters I already know and love.
I've noticed for the past couple years, each reveal season feels different, or they're at least changing tactic on how they bundle their synergistic cards. I still remember when during the Castle Nathria expansion reveal, Relic Vault was revealed on a Friday with us having no idea what relics were at the time, so we couldn't properly evaluate this card till the following week when we saw all the relics. I prefer the class card dumps they do now, showcase an entire mechanic/archetype all in one go.
Also remember as time goes on, less and less reveals will be given to 3rd party promotors (think content creators, gaming new sites etc). This game is 10 years old after all so it stands to reason Blizzard will be revealing more cards themselves as people become less interested in new expansions. I do wish Out of Games was given more reveals though. Still remember that sick Xaril, Poisoned Mind reveal when Flux used to run Hearthpwn.
As for new reveals on the weekend, it used to annoy me when I was more invested in the game coz sparse weekend reveals have always been a thing. Now I spend my time in other games or adulting to really notice 😅
It makes sense from Blizzard's side as well. If people have questions on interactions for specific cards, revealing during the week enables faster response times.
I think you're underestimating how good 1 mana to recur any specific spell is. It's hard to whiff on Tidepool because you have three chances to copy the spell you actually want.
I think it's a nice reminder that while Hearthstone is entertainment/leisure for the people who play it, it's work/employment for the people who build it and promote it.
There's plenty of time to see the new cards before the patch drops.
The start of this reveal season did feel a bit wonky, though. Maybe they tweaked the schedule at the last minute because of those leaks?
I would like some clarity about the phonies: do they not work at all, or are they slightly worse versions of the amulets? Because the first probably makes Griftah a 5-Star card whereas the second probably makes him a 3-Star card.
I feel like in most cases it's way too slow to get enough Location uses to turbo this out early enough to be worth the trouble of building around the synergy of a single 8/8 body but maybe somebody could find a combination of cheap Locations to make it happen.
I don't really know how to judge this card because there's not much of a reason to include it in a deck (unless you're somehow copying or resurrecting it, and those copies count as having not started in deck?) Seems like a weird OTK meme card and nothing more but the power of Charge on a Pirate is never to be fully underestimated.
