Just curious if there are any decks in SoU that you thought were going to be good (or maybe just playable?) before launch that you've experimented with and they were just trash?
I got High Priest Amet so figured i'd give a Boar OTK deck a whirl since it seemed reasonable as a win condition in any otherwise decent Control Priest capacity. Ladies and Gentleman, it is NOT. 2-8 record, and the two wins didn't come from the OTK but just general win against other Control decks. I only got close to the OTK once, but they had two taunts up and I only had oneSilence so no go.
At least I learned my lesson after RR where I crafted a LOT to try and make Dragon Warrior work to no avail so I didn't craft anything on this but still...I get that a 7-card combo isn't the easiest to pull off but dang I didn't think the deck would be THAT bad.
I think for a big expansion-level lore post you kind of hit the nail on the head with the Tol'vir: an explanation of the main theme and/or setting of an expansion, as well as the connecting thread on a number of cards like a race featured repeatedly in the art.
So other examples to rewind a bit could have been: WW - how did everyone in Gilneas become werewolves including the royal family? RoS - a summary of the city of Dalaran - it's history, politics & leaders, why is it floating, etc. And to look forward, assuming the guesses are correct and the next expansion is about the Bronze Dragonflight - what are the dragonflights? How do various legendary cards fit into them i.e. Ysera, Alexstrasza, Nozari, etc.
First game of the new expansion - me with Highlander Quest Paladin, them with Quest Druid. For the first 80% of the game I'm just treading water and fighting off defeat as they naturally complete their quest on turn 4 then start going to town on me. But I manage to hang in there until turn 9 when I drop Zephrys the Great into Flamestrike to stave off defeat. Still pretty rocky with a lot of back and forth until I complete my quest and then turn the tide: Turn 12 Siamat with Windfury and Rush, then a copy with new hero power to clear the board. Turn 13 Tirion Fordring, then a copy with HP to hold the line, and lastly Turn 14 0-mana Shirvallah, the Tiger plus Colossus of the Moon to pull out a win I had given up getting back on turn 6. Very nice start!
22 Epics as well which was nice, although FIVE of them wereDiseased Vulture :/
All in all: didn't get exactly the legendaries I wanted (Armagedillo y u no luv me?) but I'm not mad about any of them (big "F" to those who opened Hack the System
I only have Priest (Dragon Priest) & Hunter (Spell/Secret Hunter) golden though not too far (425 or so) from getting Warrior (Dr. Broken Mechs) now. I have literally 0 ladder wins with Druid (also the only class not at rank 60...) or Mage, maybe 50 each with Shaman and Rogue, and I think ~200 each with Paladin & Warlock.
So pretty far off from completion. Though if SoU Quest Druid is as good/fun as it looks those Druid numbers might get a lot better over the next few months.
As someone who started playing HS well after Un'goro and never had the dust to craft the quests during the Year of the Raven, I'm really excited to finally be able to play some Quests! Thinking about changing my username to Questing Adventurer for next few months...
Don't really want Bazaar Burglary because I enjoy playing pure Tesspionage Rogue with 2 Spectral Cutlasses rather than Tempo Rogue. However I wouldn't be mad since it's obviously pretty broken from the outset.
Ditto with all of the above that I can't see Hack the System being any good.
All the rest seem like they could be viable in the right context or at least would be fun to play around with.
That's not going to be very effective tech: it would only disable Zephrys from the moment both Bombers are played until the moment the first bomb is drawn. So for much of the game, Zephrys would still be active.
Well given my luck with Bombs, naturally both of those bombs will be at the bottom of the opponents deck 100% of the time so VERY effective once played lol
But also yeah - really Bomb Warrior is the only class/build that has any sort of consistent good counter to highlander decks. So if this card really is OP expect the meta to be half highlander Hunter/Druid/Paladin (I don't think the value of new-Reno is enough to see play) and half Bomb Warrior counters.
This card will be hilarious whether it's OP or not - really interesting to see how well it plays. Will everyone start running 2x Seaforium Bomber to tech? Only time will tell...
Crystal Merchant - I won't ask about your mana curve if you don't ask where I got these. (Heh, drugs)
Ancient Mysteries - I'm not saying it was aliens, but it was TOTALLY aliens! (Best meme)
Activate the Obelisk - A one-eyed, one stone, towering purple minion healer. (WOW this is a reference I haven't heard in a loooong time. Glad to find out Little Richard is still alive and well).
Vessina - She wasn't happy when Hagatha sent her back to Uldum. But her "angry" hiss sounds like her "happy" hiss, so no one knew the difference. (Imagining this genuinely delights me).
Diseased Vulture - He's off the twig! He's kicked the bucket! THIS IS AN EX-VULTURE! (Always down for a good Monty Python reference!)
Living Monument - This is not the greatest card in the world. This is just a monument. (Ditto for Tenacious D references)
I would guess either Beasts or Spells, probably the former given my belief that Toast's unrevealed card was the Hunter Quest (they've shown every other one before the stream and he was "high-profile" enough to get a legendary) and it had a what appeared to be a grey-purple "dog" (hyena?) on the thumbnail. I think though instead of playing big/small beasts it will probably be similar to the rest and purely numbers focused i.e. play 10 beasts. I love playing Zul'jin Spell Hunter though so I would PREFER spell quest but I'm not holding my breath.
Brann needs to be featured on the cards' art.
Huh I never noticed that the heroes/villains were on their quest cards - good spot! So yeah as I said I expect it to be a beast-focused quest so that would fit the "Dinotamer Brann" flavor.

Toast did say that his card was a minion on the same power level as Drakonid Operative.

Am not sure how good of an idea a spell quest would be though given that Zul'jin is already mega strong and also replaces the hero power.
Well that might be the point - a sort of "trade-off" pseudo-nerf to blunt Zul'jin's power? Thinking about Warrior quest vs. losing Dr. Boom's powers plus Rogue Quest vs not being able to really use Spectral Cutlass which is a big part of pure Burgle Rogue. Guess we'll see!

So yes this seems a great idea and would be good to get some updated decks with the new sets now in play. I'm a relatively new player (started right after K&C) so don't have anything to contribute on the older adventures sadly, but I fully support this endeavor.
I know it's not much, but since I'm not an Arena player I was very happy to get 8 wins on my current run (playing on my "free" ticket ahead of the rotation reset next week so stopped at 2 loses) - this literally doubles the number of Arena wins I have.
WOW great video as always! I just wonder if this lamp, from video that Anduin holding in his hands, going to be some new card from this expansion, maybe even new quest for priest.
I think you may be right - based on the video the quest might be something like "Resurrect 6 minions that died this game". Not sure what the payoff would be - "Anytime you resurrect a minion, give it Reborn"?

So is everyone else only facing Conjurer Calling Mages? This was all 5 of my opponents so that was super fun /s

93 packs got me:
Making Mummies - meh I'll give it a try!
Elise the Enlightened - wasn't super into this one but i'll take it, especially since I also opened
Zephrys the Great - booyah
Siamat - definitely strong so that'll work
Colossus of the Moon - I guess i'll use it in the Paladin Quest?
Also got Dark Pharaoh Tekahn from preorder which is definitely one I wanted, as well as Bazaar Burglary which I expect will be OP

This worked like a charm for me - thanks!
This is excellent for all involved - kudos on making this happen!

Apologies for linking The Site That Must Not Be Named, but this was very helpful for beating the Lich King with all classes:
