Oh, so YOU'RE the reason I just played 4 Murloc Shamans in a row?! :)

Yeah, she said that to me one chapter one. I strongly dislike the whole weakening mechanic TBH. I get why they did it, so there'd be an easy out for people who don't enjoy the struggle, but it really takes the challenge out of it. There should be a way to turn it off, especially on heroic.

I don't see it so much as an "easy out" - I think they purposely designed the Plague Lords to be *nearly* impossible to defeat in one run. Heck they each get 3 separate decks so right off the bat you have half the cards they will, not to mention the sheer RNG factor - you only need one bad Plague of Murlocs giving the boss 3 Ol Murk Eyes to be dead, or - as happened for me - the Death Lord summoning 4 Thaddeus on Phase 2.

My guess is that those who have succeed in one try did it either with an amazing cheese deck (0-mana Sound the Bells, anyone?) or with the most insane luck imaginable. I'll be really curious to see if Blizz releases data one what % of people managed to one-shot any of the bosses - I expect it would be under 10%, probably even under 5%.

That being said, I totally agree that it would be great if there was an off-switch and if you picked that, the boss randomly got one of their 3 phases and only 100 HP.

It's not a bug: he just happened to only have one playable card at a time. If anything, you lucked out in a major way and punished his poor mulligan + card drawing.

I just finished a fight against him, and he had up to 4 possible options a couple times.

OH! I hadn't thought of that - he's only showing actual, possible plays. I had assumed it was going to be more like how Curious Glimmerroot worked where two of the cards were "fake." That makes sense.

When I played him just now, only 1 card showed up each time I had to "guess" which card he was about to play. For each turn. Which meant he wasn't able to play a single card before he died at turn 7.

Seems like a bug (and a pretty big one since it meant effectively an auto-victory for me) so curious if that happened to others as well?

Does anyone know exactly how the Sr. versions of the hero treasures get unlocked?  Is it "complete chapters 1-4" or "complete chapters 1-4 with this hero" ?

I'd kidded myself it was just beat 4 plague lords - I unlocked Reno's Gatling Wand by beating 3, but was pretty disappointed when beating the 4th didn't unlock the Sr. card.

The way I read that is that you have to clear EACH of the fist 4 chapters with a hero to level them up - so impossible to do right now since the 4th chapter isn't live yet. So next week you can do it and then have the leveled-up version for the final chapter the week after.

Third-ing this. I love the new flavor articles (Traversing Azeroth is fantastic), but definitely would like the news updates too so OOC can be the "one stop shop" if possible.

I would hate having a daily quest relying absolutely on your opponent (your 80g "defeat your opponent before they complete their quest") who have to play a special deck and also with only quests being played are druid (completed on turn 4 or 5) and shaman (completed on turn 3-6)

That's totally fair - was just the first thing that came to mind as an example. I'm sure others could come with better options for quests that capture flavor/utilize new mechanics of each expansion.

Almost beat him first try (down to i think 70 HP) I just got completely BTFO by RNGesus - the random murloc summons/transforms gave the boss 4! (FOUR!) Old Murk-Eyes over the course of the fight that each went straight face for 10-20 dmg each. I honestly think those were the only face hits the boss got on me, but obviously all it needed...still though that was very fun and I look forward to more!

Same thing happened to me. He had no other way of dealing damage to me (the summon extra legendary for free is busted, especially with Silvanus

Haven't gotten that treasure yet, but beat the boss by a mile on round 2 because I got the Recycling power. +2 armor for every dead friendly minion in this kind of roulette wheel of cheap tokens? Yes, please and then trade, trade, trade to burn him out! I think I had over 50 armor at one point...

I am really enjoying the diversity in the current meta - I have at least 1 deck with each class that 1) is fun to pay and 2) isn't a total dumpster-fire of meme-ery and can actually win games.

It will be really interesting to see how the new expansion(s) work with the quests and if the next meta will propel some of the "stragglers" into the limelight: i.e. are they actually going to print more Reborn minions for Paladin? Try to give Warrior more tools than just Armored Goonto make Weapon Warrior a thing? More draw/shuffle mechanics for Warlock?

Just thinking they had to HoF Genn/Baku over the restrictions they imposed on printing certain types of card, so will the quests do the same? Or allow them MORE room to make cards that fit the quests to help balance them? Time will tell...

The daily quests definitely need some changes. After the tweak to the rewards a while back, some of the easiest quests [Win 1 game with X or Y class] give the same amount of gold as [Win two with X class], which is plainly out of whack in terms of difficulty. Hell, even the 60 reward quests don't feel as rewarding considering you have to expend three times as much effort to get 10 gold more compared to these easy 50 gold quests.

Rewards aside, it feels like there's just too many quests related to winning with specific classes: a lot of these are redundant, and the large number of these means that other types of quest don't come up as frequently. Then there's the argument against more specific quests like playing pirates, secrets, elementals, etc. that you'd often have to build a deck just to complete the quest, and many players just want to play ladder and get their gold.

I don't think there's a perfect solution here that would please everyone (other than perhaps infinite rerolls on quests), but personally I'd like to see the number of [win with class] quests trimmed down and some of the lamer type-specific quests like [play 6 pirates] removed as well. I wouldn't mind the introduction of set-specific quests (for the duration of that set) either, EG you could have quests relating to mummies, reborn minions, quests, highlander decks, etc. for Uldum.

    Totally agree

You’ve probably seen how some people really don’t like the brawl quests, and just auto reroll them every time. Imagine rerolling into another quest you couldn’t do.

New quests would need to be something easy to complete that doesn’t revolve around specific expansions. That’s why the tribal ones work, and the odd/even. They aren’t tied exclusively to an expansion. Preferably you’d want whatever new quest to be possible to complete purely through the classic set as well.0

Well you could save the quest and reroll again the next day? I guess I just have a different feeling about what the quests "should" be - I don't think they should be "easy" because then what's even the point? Oh I got the pirate quest - let me throw every pirate I have into some trash deck, play it once to drop them all, and then move back to decks I actually want to play. That doesn't really feel like the quest is idk "part" of the game as much a box to tick and get the gold before moving back to the "real" game.

I mean there's no "right" answer to the question. I was just curious if I was alone in thinking this about the quests and was curious what other people thought.

Part of the problem with adding new quests like you mentioned for Boomsday or Uldum would be they’d Ben somewhat locked begin having more cards for that expansion (Magnetize probably isn’t coming back for awhile, and new players won’t have any quest cards)

That's kind of my point about having them roll the quests with each new expansion - you'd get the current expansion's daily quests more while they were new, and then drop off once the next one launched. So it wouldn't "matter" as much if you joined HS after a particular expansion. And for new people not having quests, etc. that's fair, but I guess in that case you could just reroll or wait - sort of like how people who don't have a lot of friends might have to reroll the "play a friend"/"watch a friend win" quests or how you'd probably wait on the "win 3 tavern brawls" quest if it was a week where you hated the brawl (looking at you, Brawlesium...)

I bought it with money because I like to horde gold for the next expansion starting about a month after current xp launch. I really didn't care for RR's single-player so bought Dalaran Heist with gold because of trepidation about quality, but that was a total blast so definitely have high hopes for this one. Just not super sure how Bob has a tavern open inside a millennium-old tomb?...

I feel like there needs to be a "refreshing" of the daily quests - not so much the gold (though more would be great obviously) but just the quests themselves are feeling a bit stale and don't really "add" much usually. So am curious if anyone has thoughts on new quests they'd like to see and what quests would you be happy if they removed forever?

My additions would be more around deckbuilding goals. They already have the "play 6 pirates"/"play 6 cards that cost 8 or more"/etc. so I think they should expand on that to keep the flavor going on each expansion and to encourage using the new cards. This already happened once with Witchwood with "I Can't Even/The Odds Are Against Us" for even/odd costed cards, so it's a shame that seems to be the only time they've ever tried that. So for example on Boomsday they could have added 50g -"magnetize 5 Mechs" or 60g - "create a Magnetized mech that's at least a 10/10", SoU they could have 60g - "complete 4 quests" or 80g "defeat your opponent before they complete their quest". That type of thing.

As for what I'd love to see go, the "Win X Games With [Classes]" needs to be buried forever for two main reasons: 1) I don't have data to support this, but my strong belief is that for most people who don't tend to a play a class they get the quest for, they just grab the strongest netdeck they can build and jump in Casual to complete their quest. This sucks when I'm trying to meme it up in Casual and run into say Murloc Paladin. I've actually friended a few people over the years that have done this and most have actually said that's why they were playing a T1 deck in Casual - to complete their quest as fast and easily as possible or becuase they were new to the game and it was the only way they'd be able to do it. 2) Again totally anecdotal but whenever I get this quest I cannot seem to STEAL the win(s) needed to complete it. This is the genesis of my creating this thread today - Win a game with Rogue quest, so I'll just use my Quest Rogue I have a 51.4% win rate with. Oh look at that - I lost 5 games in a row before finally getting a win. This happens so much I cannot stand it because it just feels extra bad to lose when "there's something on the line" so to speak.

So what does everyone else think? Good ideas for new quests? Quests you want burned to the ground?

As someone who only played a little WoW I find these articles to be really great; please do keep them coming! As to your request for idea submissions, my suggestions would be:

    1. A national geographic-style anthropology article of some of the minor races that seem to have decent backstory, especially the mobs or races that show up in a lot of card art. So basically more like the Tol'vir article you did last month. So maybe a Murloc article?

    2. Family history type articles on some of the main players in the current cards. So take for example the Greymanes: how did the come to rule Gilneas, who/what killed Prince Liam and how did he come back as a ghost, what's their beef with any of the antagonists (Godfrey, Glinda, etc).

I don't recall which user came up with idea (if it was you reading this, then good job!) but someone once suggested a good way to deal with the 5g AND to hopefully cut down on general BM was a "tipping" system. Basically at the end of a match you could "tip" your opponent 5g - for being a good player, being fun to play with, for NOT BMing like crazy, etc. I've always thought that was a good idea to kill those two birds with one stone, though I'm sure it will never happen since it would lead to a rash of account duping to "tip" all your clones' gold to your main, but still...

2 packs but when 25k people watching/is online chance are slim.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if there are 63,000 packs, and 25,000 people watching, then everyone should get 2-3 packs assuming the packs are evenly spread.

I guess OP just had bad luck. :/

That's not really how it works since each hour is independent - if there are 25,000 people watching each hour, then each viewer has just a 6% chance to get one of the 1,500 packs each hour. So you really only have a 6% chance to get a pack on a given hour - yes to never get even one is bad luck, but statistically you never really have a "good" chance to get one since there's no "pity timer" to compound the odds.

I got 1 pack for "watching" for like 8 hours. Interestingly, I only got it after my internet disconnected and I had to reboot the stream - within a minute of coming back online I got the pack. So now I'm kind of wondering if there's some "reverse pity timer" that funnels the majority of packs to "new" watchers (presumably in hopes of keeping them around for a second pack)...

Hey random Q: got a friend request; assuming salt incoming but I honestly find it funny so always accept, but I couldn't accept this person's request because they "had too many friends". My question is: if someone tries to accept your request but can't for that reason, does Bnet alert you in any way since players can't send messages to non-friends to let them know hey your friend pool is full?

Parthenon 11553 on North America server, I want to be your friend - or laugh at your salt, as the case may be :(
