Power Word: Tentacles saw no play and will see no play. Its an Old Gods card, it even have the tentacles. Since this card is obviously free (its a basic card) I dont see why anyone should complain given that power creeping in hearthstone has been a feature for some time now.
From a standpoint of what it does, its pretty amazing, and does well to serve this sort of tempo identity team5 is trying to impose on priest.
From a flavor standpoint, its pretty understandable why Power Word: Tentacles didnt just get buffed and moved to basic.
If there is a world where priest is being pushed to be more tempo oriented then the above cards checks out and will work very well...but only if there's something on board. Just about all the minions above work to sustain an existing board and its only unfortunate that they also fail miserably once they lose it. Compared with paladin, who also has many cards that works to sustain a board by buffing and generating, priest doesnt current have any ways of generating wide boards, or in fact, generate board at all aside from the one minion played per turn. Couple this with the fact that priest no longer draws well anymore, if they start losing tempo I'm afraid there's no real way for them to build it back up again.
Both Northshire Cleric and Acolyte of Pain rotating also creates another problem by affecting the bread and butter of a possible tempo priest; Northshire Cleric into Injured Tol'vir, into Injured Blademaster + Circle of Healing. They may be uncomfortably moved towards playing Thoughtsteal unironically, which really sums up why I think tempo priest just simply cant exist without massive support. They need a card like Underbelly Angler (maybe generate more dragons in their hands, fingers crossed), or it will simply not work since they will run out of steam turn 5 period.
Probably good in wild secret mage, but unless we see some powerful secret this expansion, this is just not going to happen.
Allows you to discover a spell. Quite powerful, but that means you've got to play this on curve, hope it doesnt die, and then play your secret, which youve got to first draw as well. Or play this on turn 5 for value. Its just not efficient. Most good cards are cards that have a good impact on the game all by themselves. Relying on another card to be good is usually not a good thing.
edit: Oh, and I ought to mention that playing this builds value, not tempo. So if you're going to go all out of your way to ensure that the effect triggers, and it doesnt support tempo, the effect has either got to be easily triggered or be massively overpowered. This is not the case with Apexis Smuggler yet
Okay, the conditions for the spell to work is nearly impossible, since a deck full of spells is best paired with one of the best 2 drops for a spell-heavy mage, Sorcerer's Apprentice. But I dont think the card is bad, simply because it reads "deal x damage", which means it can hit face.
Put simply, its a weaker version of fireball, with an upside that will take all the way to the late game to ever accomplish. Its also NOT a highlander card, which is rare enough. Play it in tempo mage/cyclone mage or get it off cards like Mana Cyclone/Evocation.
In short, to me, the best part of the spell is that it deals face damage. You might as well forget the effect. Its almost never going to happen. But getting nearer to lethal, sure, why not?
With no Voidlord for dhunter, and the fact that there are few useful demons in the list means this will often just be a 7/9 taunt for 9 that summons itself. Not too bad, but not terribly good neither.
Maiev Shadowsong puts your minions in lockdown for two turns due to coronavirus.
Flexible card, its like a freeze effect for two turns, but does not eliminate the threat or allow interaction. Used on your own minions, you can ensure a full turn with them along with full mana crystals execept its two turns later, or save them from an impending AOE, or used with a charge minion to attack again two turn later.
I can already see the shenanigans with this card. Its most meaningful in rogue, but there's enough combo potential in this card for other classes, just maybe.
Its a tempo mage card, through and through. You dont play this is cyclone decks, nor highlander, both of which already have plenty of cards to choose from. If it gets added into constructed, its because the deck plays fast and runs out of gas too quickly for lethal.
I actually like the card. Combos well with sorcerer's apprentice.
In cyclone decks, discovering this means more spells to play. Its essentially a discover effect for many spells, and you get to pick often more than one to play the same turn.
Extremely good under some circumstances, especially given that Fresh Scent exist. Essentially it papers over one of hunter's weaknesses, and make this a priority target for the opponent to get rid off before establishing their own board. Its only weakness is that the damage can go face, limiting its board control properties, but that setback can sometimes give you lethal so all is good at the end.
Its just a flexible alternative to Spider Bomb who is sadly rotating out.
Seems very strong, and boast a very cool design. Unfortunately, its very likely too slow for hunter. The dream would be to play this, bring up tundra rhino, and two other beasts (Savannah Highmane would be best fit, King Krush already has charge), grab back tempo or go straight for lethal. But to do that hunter has to first draw this card, draw the other cards, discard or play all other beasts, then go for it. That one of the best card this expansion for hunter, Zixor Prime, is a battlecry doesn't help matters, and hunter having abysmal draw engines means this will likely just not work half the time.
But this card makes it possible for more combo builds, so at some point it would be incredibly good, its just a matter of having the right cards printed.
Its very strong, and again highlights how OP dhunter feels like. While our poor friend Uther lingers in between so many crap, unexciting, and downright specialised cards, Illidan's cards all seemed way too powerful and flexible.
This one will be in every dhunter deck, and make ANY taunt an unreliable counter to the menagerie of tempo aggro decks dhunter can cook out. The fact that it has 5 health means it cant be shot down by secrets except for freezing trap neither, so its essentially allowing the player to ignore the opponent's previous turn and go for lethal.
Just think of it as giving an aggressive class Mass Dispel that only works on taunts. Allowing favorable trades and lethals.
This card can either make it to become the best mage card next expansion, or be absolute trash, depending entirely on pure RNG. I can see tempo mage making a comeback. Make it to turn 7-8 (tempo mage shouldnt have gas to last this long), play 1x Sorcerer's Apprentice + Evocation and get a full reload of spells albeit for one turn only. There's plenty of cheap spells in the pool to ensure some success.
It may be RNG, but its all packed into one card, and in many respects its much better than Raid the Sky Temple, and more flexible in terms of deck building than Mana Cyclone. I like it.
Too bad its 'choose an enemy minion', otherwise this would be some god-like flexible card. Just imagine possible synergies.
But without any way to handbuff this, its just not really that good. At best it clears a 2 drop. As a vanilla minion, it can't even beat a 3/4 to death on 3.
The only strength this card has is that its a pally lengendary so there's some synergy with Lightforged Crusader. But my god you've got to go dumpster diving to get something even resembling good with this card.
Its Lynessa Sunsorrow but worse. In fact, very much worse. The best thing about Lynessa was that it cast the spells for you, so value is guaranteed. This one generates a bunch of spells without guarantee of anything sticking on board to use it next turn. Hell, she doesnt even come with her own divine shield and/or taunt so its a turn 7 do nothing essentially.
But perhaps there's some overpowered buff spell yet to be revealed (maybe even a legendary buff spell) that will make Lady Liadrin more than trash right now.
Not really. The most powerful thing so far announced is the new dhunter class. Aside from that most the other cards are either plagued by RNG, draw RNG, or just plain not good.
Just about every expansion feels overpowered (with the possible exception of witchwood and rastakhans) because they're fresh and untested. But eventually every decks gotta start cutting down of these 'overpowered' cards because they need to tech against aggro decks, a feature that's nearly always the majority of the ranked matches.
As it stands right now, I can't see why face hunter wouldn't just wipe the floor with everyone's hopes and dreams, since the replacement for Zilliax has not (yet) been revealed.

You can get this off Deathstalker Rexxar in wild. Absolutely insane.

You're better off playing Scarlet Webweaver+ Tundra Rhino/King Krush + hunting party for the combo into lethal.
But this card makes it possible for more combo builds, so at some point it would be incredibly good, its just a matter of having the right cards printed.

2 cards kill one minion for 5 mana. Yes, that's why people forget about it.
You're right actually. Right after the last hit, she obviously collapses in sheer exhaustion. Sorry.
"Battle it to the death"
Good god.
Such a massive axe she has. 1 damage.
Too bad its 'choose an enemy minion', otherwise this would be some god-like flexible card. Just imagine possible synergies.

Well, no one says prime cant give you an OP spell :)
