The only way you know about time-based XP is by reading the devs' comments about it -- where they explicitly spell it out for you that it's better to finish your game and start a new one.
Pretty dumb, IMO. You can easily end up screwing yourself in so many ways. As mentioned above, Shaman has far better ways to achieve what this card wants to do.
Resurrection is a huge, important part of the Priest identity. They aren't just going to ignore it. If this card surprises, disappoints or angers you, prepare yourself for a lot of negative emotions at every future expansion.
20 bucks for the new tavern pass? Yeah, I'll pass thank you very much. Considering that we're staring at mid expansions from now on, is 20 bucks really a justifiable price for something that gives you no other competitive advantage but 10% extra xp? I'll let the many resident mathematicians in Hearthstone to do the math, but for now, absolutely not.
Looking forward to the new system. I guess we still have 1 extra day to do the quests before the revamp
Since the XP boost translates directly into gold, it would make no sense for them to let you use gold to pay for it. I suppose they could charge more gold than you could ever hope to recoup via the bonus, but at that point, no one would ever buy it anyway.
No, it's $20 for an extra (cosmetic-only) reward track tied to the current expansion. It is extremely rare that Hearthstone offers cosmetic rewards in exchange for gold. You do also get 10% accelerated XP, which translates to gold, so it would make no sense for them to let you buy it with gold.
The way they have worded it in this announcement, it looks like you will have to pay $20 each expansion.
Since the Tavern Pass rewards are mostly cosmetic, I see nothing wrong with this. Historically, most cosmetic rewards in Hearthstone have not been purchasable with gold.
And because you can technically get more gold with the accelerated XP, it would make absolutely no sense if they let you buy it with gold. That would literally be the same as just handing out free gold.
I think it's actually a lot different than Shadow Essence.
Shadow Essence is used for getting smaller versions of big cards, but Idol of Y'Shaarj can be used to create a big version of a card that is much better when bigger, like anything with Rush or Charge or Lifesteal, or stuff that snowballs when it sticks (but usually doesn't stick due to small health).

So anyone roping for XP is exceptionally stupid.
LOL a more expensive version of an abject failure. Good work, Team 5.
I've always liked Demonlock, so I really hope this works out.
But come on, useless outside that build? At worst, it's Arcane Intellect for minions.
I think Enhancement Shaman is going to be fun! Viable, who knows?! But definitely fun.

This is exactly the Rogue card I've always wanted.

I hope no one is expecting to get more than one trigger out of this. And I certainly hope no one is planning on playing it on curve.
Not exactly easy to Corrupt, and when you finally do, you're probably going to need that extra damage.

Those things are part of the new progression system, which goes live with this patch.
The only thing that doesn't happen until next week is the ability to play with Darkmoon cards.

Seems like something they would have announced very clearly if it were the case.
Agree. I saw he was in the lineup, and that's why I'm not watching.
A lot of these seem way stronger than the usual Dump Day fare.

It's a random card in hand, so you can't really count on it for specific combos unless you are able to pop off hard the turn you play it.
It's still really good, though, even if it just lets you get big stuff out early or chain out one more card in a pinch.
Flavor's a bit strange, but I'm sure I'll get used to it, considering we're going to be seeing a lot of it over the next year or so.
A 3-mana 3/2 weapon with +2/+2 stats attached is way better than "fine."
