  • Very cool card. Unfortunately, it's probably not good enough. Compared to Agamaggan, you're most likely drawing at least two cards and you might discount multiple. However, you don't choose what you're discounting, and most crucially, you aren't dealing damage, which was kind of the only thing people were using Agamaggan for when they used him at all.

Not sure why there are last stands and then triumph cards, which more or less indicates who actually survived out of the heroes.

Because the Last Stand cards are the classes that now serve Deathwing. They're the ones that lost; that's why they're the evil classes this set. I complained about the evil classes getting heroic cards, but you made it all make sense.

Holy shit I love this set. Holy shit holy shit holy shit.

  • Wildwood Circle is the first Shatter card that looks really promising. It's literally just Landscaping and Soul of the Forest in one card at no price markeup. While those cards are a bit powercrept nowadays, bundling them together adds a ton of value. Plus, it's an aggro archetype, which means the Shatter is pretty easy to activate.

  • I thought Herald doubled then doubled again. Is it a flat bonus?

  • Am I misunderstanding Herald, or does Cho'Gall summon two 12/12s and eat two minions out of the opponent's deck?

  • Still won't let me edit my comment for some reason, but I just noticed that the Warlock card is called Rafaams' Last Stand. Like, plural possessive Rafaam. This set is so good.

  • Very cute, I love that they're actively continuing the plot of Across the Timeways into actual cards. Although, it does feel a little thematically dissonant to give these cards to the classes that are sided with Deathwing (although the Death Knight can't be played in the same deck as Onyxia, so good flavour win there at least).

  • To Faceless Replicator: To every one person who plays competitive decks, there are thirty that play the cards they think are cool. Go watch a Mark McKZ video, it's an endless, never-repeating torrent of the most wack crap. You'd be dumb not to cater to those people, too.

Also, it's more applicable than Infectious Sporeling. That card had to deal damage. Faceless Replicator turns The Ceaseless Expanse into a 3/3. It won't ever do that, but it can, and that's fun.

  • Web of Deception is still in Standard for Iso'rath.

  • I also think you're misreading Felwood Treant slightly. You don't have to spend all the mana on the same turn, just while you're holding it. If you curve a two into a three, it'll be available to ramp you on turn 4. That's not that far off of what New Heights is currently doing. Given that Druid no longer has any other ramp options in Standard AFIAK, that might be worth.

  • It won't let me edit my comment for some reason, but to Felwood Treant - it's a FULL mana crystal. That means it's a 1-mana 2/2 with Treant synergies if you can play a 2-drop with it. That has some applications with Splintered Reality given how strong that card is.

Im not exactly sure why Oxynia is so robotic given that resurrecting dragons isnt even new in the lore, but here we are.

That's straight out of World of Warcraft. Onyxia was brought back to life by Nefarian with a combination of necromancy and mad science. It's not as pronounced, but she has mechanical parts in Blackwing Descent. Nefarian has always been doing genetic experiments, but Cataclysm dialed up the Frankenstein reference way harder.

  • Hmm...

A previous year with a lower power level, including a hero power-themed set about a corrupted forest and a nostalgic callback set that was very underwhelming on launch.

A new set with story ties that were set up in the previous year.

A good/evil divide between classes represented mechanically, with Rogue, Shaman, Warlock, and Warrior on the side of evil.

The set has a mechanic with a Hero Card and other related minions that can be empowered throughout the game with a dedicated keyword.

This is just the Year of the Dragon again.

  • Halazzi makes the new Quest really easy for Hunter now. Although, losing the Deathrattle trigger hurts that.

  • I wonder if they're going to rename the Taverns of Time version of Chromie to something else. Both that and the new one are just called "Chromie".

  • Chronoclaws goes hard in Wild Discolock. 12 damage in meaty chunks and three discard triggers.

  • Always love to see new dual class cards. They're consistently some of the coolest designs.

  • Surprised you didn't mention the synergy between Shreds of Time and Chronogor. You play overstatted cards, and later on you play an ogre that draws 2 and deals 6 damage to the opponent.

  • Well, I think it's to balance the portals being dead draws. They're not Cast When Drawn, so each one is -1 card.

  • The demons don't draw cards for your opponent, they draw cards for you. The opponent gets the dinky minion, you get the card draw and quest progression.
