It IS Mindbender Ghur'sha, it's the same artwork (remastered, I believe) of a portrait of it with Erunak Stonespeaker.

All in all, there's ton of Old God going on in this expansion.

    That's from the wow gamepedia.

Mindbender Ghur'sha is green, while this guy is purple. I that seems deliberate, although having it be the same host body is a fun touch

  • All you need is a Desert Spear and this is a 1 mana 4/4 Rush. It also works with Unleash the Beast. Considering those are both great cards, I think this is an easy include.

  • It'd make sense. Each of the Dalaran classes got two Twinspells in RoS.

  • When are the card backs going to be updated on the card back gallery? I've been curating the card back page of the HS wiki, and I'm currently waiting on png images of add them to the gallery.

I noticed you at least have access to a png of The Shattering, which is used on the Descent of Dragons page, but even that isn't added yet.

  • I love seeing obscure Warcraft monsters getting some representation. This is a Merciless one, WoW's take on a brain squid. It also looks quite similar to Mindbender Ghur'sha, one of the bosses from Throne of the Tides.

  • Everybody always rags on random brawls, but I think they're a million times more fun than constructed ones. Constructed ones always devolve into the same five prebuilt metadecks after like the second day. It gets boring really fast.

In randomized ones though, there's always the potential for a crazy story. Just today I managed to get four 7/15 Yseras in my hand with a combination of that 9/6 that gives your minions in hand +3/+3 and Elise the Enlightened. Yeah there's a few garbage games in between, but the potential for something insane keeps me playing these ones.

I get why it's not everyone's jam, especially not the "hardcore" crowd, but I love that Blizzard appeals to every type of player.

  • Inspire doesn't work very well, since a large number of heroes have passive hero powers.

  • About a month ago I made a thread asking if Frost Nova should be HoF'd to increase the variety of freeze effects that can be printed for Mage. The reaction was mostly negative, since too many freeze effects would eventually overwhelm mage in Wild mode.

That got me thinking though: would people be interested in a new play mode that uses rotating sets? Similar to Arena and the Brawl Block tavern brawls, you could only build decks from certain expansions. For simplicity, it could follow the same current rotation as whatever the arena is.

The idea is this lets old cards shine like they do in Wild, but in a way that keeps the meta fluid and prevents "solved archetypes" (so things like Rez Priest and Face Shaman wouldn't be insane forever). It might even let certain bad cards see the light of day without better alternatives. This also gives Blizzard more leeway to print similar effects to rotated cards and make them competitive, since there would be an alternative to Wild mode. Also keep in mind this balances Priest's ever-growing collection of board clears.

    Thoughts?

I don't see it so much as an "easy out" - I think they purposely designed the Plague Lords to be *nearly* impossible to defeat in one run. Heck they each get 3 separate decks so right off the bat you have half the cards they will, not to mention the sheer RNG factor - you only need one bad Plague of Murlocs giving the boss 3 Ol Murk Eyes to be dead, or - as happened for me - the Death Lord summoning 4 Thaddeus on Phase 2.

I find them fairly easy to cheese. You just build a deck that can stabilize while on the easiest phase, and sit tight until the boss decks and you can set up an OTK (or at least do a tonne of damage at once). Honestly I find this boring though, compared to fighting them head-on. They're certainly balanced around being fought head-on.

  • It's definitely not just the back turned upside-down. It's got the triangle base, but that's about where it stops.

  • Don't be ridiculous. China censorship does not care about sexualized characters or gore. Have you seen Chinese games? They changed Secretkeeper because it was literally an ass, and that's dumb. Why do you think they changed Mistress of Pain but not Silver Hand Regent's very visible nipples? You can't argue that it's a Wild card no one uses, because so is MoP. It was for the same reason they changed Succubus - because they don't want an actual sex demon in their game.

The thing that gets censored is bones. That's the #1 thing that gets changed.

I've been saying this since the announcement - the art changes were only for the reasons Blizzard gave. That art didn't fit the game anymore.

  • The thing that really irks me about the Rexxar one isn't just the artwork itself, but the concept. It's literally just the same character from a different angle. You could've replaced the bow with an axe - the weapon he actually uses. It was right there.

Oh well. That Garrosh one is worth it at least.

  • One of the ways is to hold him on phase 1 until you have an OTK. He either only has one C'thun or doesn't have any during that phase (can't remember, either way it won't be too bad). You can do this with Elise with Navigator and Starseeker fairly easily, duplicating buffs to create infinite spells to create infinite Moonfires.

  • This isn't a rant about power, or even frustration. This is about design space. I think that Frost Nova seriously limits the design space of freeze effects for Mage. With Frost Nova and Blizzard, Mage has insane board locking presence. They can prevent all enemy minions from attacking up to four times. That's totally balanced, but it means that you really can't print another mass freeze effect (at least not one with a bonus effect worth using). Being able to do that six times is far too much. With both cards being Classic, that's an entire design that that's just... not viable.

Obviously if Nova were to go, it would have to be prefacing a set where Blizzard was intending to add another mass freeze. That makes the most sense.

The reason I think Nova should go over Blizzard is because it's cheaper and has no other effects, which makes it harder to balance. Also, Blizzard is too entertaining to cut from Standard. I also know that Cone of Cold exists, but that's just a worse Frost Nova (ergo, a side effect that's not worth using). Maybe without Nova, Cone of Cold could even see play - that might be interesting.

Thoughts? Do you agree or am I talking out of my ass?
