They introduce broken cards that are only kept in check by reduced pool: why not restricting cards extremes instead (ie. prevent extreme extreme powerplays based on (0)-costed cards).
I am intrigued by their project, but while i don't mind Marvel franchises, i am not really a fan of them.
In the same way i feel attracted to HS exclusively because of WC lore and story, i don't feel compelled to commit to Ben's new creature, no matter how well designed it will be.
Two rare goldens is 200 dust at worst. Always nice. But is that enough for what should be a huge celebration event for anything WC-related? I think it isn't.
They could have waited for the anniversary to release the 1k wins portraits, and would have appeared much more substantial for this Warcraft celebration.
While doing nothing more than now, actually, just delaying a few weeks.
I mean, if you are lazy, at least try being lazy with style, without looking cheap...
I don't mind this autochess, but Wild Ranked will stay my main mode.
And honestly i won't play Battlegrounds that often, if it doesn't yield additional rewards.
You mean heroic tavern brawl?
Basically, yes. Or Brawliseum. The one with 150g entrance and normal Arena rewards.
As a permanent mode, one free entrance per week.
At the end of the day, that would be the easiest way to implement something similar to a FFA tournament, valueing Constructed, but without the grind of ladder.
Against Aggro: you play it on t4, if you know you are safe, and turn the game in your favor next turn.
Against Tempo/Midrange, or if unsafe: you play it on t7 with Time Out!. Followed by some big swing next turn.
Against Control: You play it in the lategame for sheer value: (4) mana 8/8 memes incoming.
All in all, i think this Nozdormu is more versatile than Temporus, in that a timely play has less chances to backfire.
However, considering an average meta, it is true that he's not as mad as it seems, because you must always plan ahead, and your opponent is likely to have still quite some steam on t4, no matter their archetype.
Otherwise seen: it is a less powerful Kun the Forgotten King, but with an extra option to be played earlier, with a measured risk.
This is a Value card, as most Sidequests will be by design.
However minor, it requires setup, so it does nothing the turn it is played (poor Tempo), EXCEPT from turn-9 and later, which can still be considered as a Value move, within the economy of HS.
All in all, these cards can only fit Midrange or Control decks.
To be seen if worthy of the slot tho. Probably only specific Midrange/Control will benefit from them, despite the condition being quite generic.
UNLESS an efficient tutor is printed.
Learn Draconic might not be a tempo play, but the turn it activates it's a huge tempo swing, effectively a zero mana 6/6. In that sense it can be compared to cards like Arcane Tyrant and Anubisath Sentinel. Now I happen to think that 8 mana is just a pinch too much to make this card good in tempo mage decks(at 7 it'd be a LOT easier to complete with 2 spells by turn 4), not to mention the fact that that deck lacks a certain Flamewaker at the moment, but it's a mistake to look at Learn Draconic as just value. The fact that you can "pay" for your dragon over a number of turns while using that mana to draw cards, kill minions, deal damage, etc. makes this side-quest a very powerful tempo-swing.
Yeah, but as i said, it does fit only in Midrange or Control, because only there you can afford to have a card in your deck/hand with no effect on the play-turn.
In other words, it is a CONDITIONAL Tempo-swing, not a real Tempo-swing card.
Not to mention the fact that the real swing is applied by some eventual removals you play to unlock it: 6/6 on the board is no big swing per se, however cheap it is (it's not a Rat Trap that gives you a 6/6 ready on your turn).
Indeed, Arcane Tyrant is a Big Spell card: Midrange/Control.

Exactly.
But then their design policy is flawed.
They introduce broken cards that are only kept in check by reduced pool: why not restricting cards extremes instead (ie. prevent extreme extreme powerplays based on (0)-costed cards).
I really can't understand them...
Mechwarper
Arcane Flakmage
Crystology
These three cards in Wild are far more broken. Not even comparable. Yet two of them are in Standard, basically unnoticed.
That is, without Mutate, nobody would notice about the Fleshshaper.
TL;DR: if they don't take a more aggressive stance against brokenness, in Standard AND Wild, this game will rapidly turn into a meme.
Indeed, paradox is mobile seems fine now (finally, after weeks).

But competition's always healthy.

That Dead cardback is both spooky and cute. Love it.
In Wild, this card can easily replace Undercity Huckster and Hallucination for all lists.
But not more than that. It's still just a Value card, and Thief can't really afford to shift too much into Value, not even the Cutlass lists.
I would also prefer a longer reveal season, and i find the final dump completely useless.
Imo, the reveals should either last longer, and/or leave more cards unknown until the very release day.
Yeah, which is a total bummer for such a main character in Warcraft lore (if we think he basically invented Azerothian Paladins, including Uther).
Still waiting for his righteous place to be restored, either in human or undead form.
Nice!
But we still need a cool Priest hero.
Alonsus Faol is the man we need and deserve.
Probably.
As far as i understood it, only LoE classes get old dragon aspects, while EVIL classes get entirely new Dragons (+Galakrond).
The only exception being Warrior, for unknown reasons (since Malygos is just as mad and hostile as Deathwing).
See you at the Reveals Countdown!
Secret Mage, Secret Mage, Secret Mage, Renolock, Sniplock, Secret Mage, Secret Mage...
Some crashes in between.
I dunno how i resisted throwing the phone against the wall so far...

Actually, that's not Alex. Just a random Red Dragon.
But yeah, it's misleading to see mixed flights in classes, given how they are given an Aspect each... It feels clumsy.
Hopefully, no cheap Dragon tutor will ever be printed.
