Lots of cool stuff in this one. Fire Sorc might have been seriously overlooked, though: Fireball gets the smallest of changes, and no buff to Firewall or the other burning skills? Guess I'll continue to leave my Firewall Sorc on the shelf for now.
They actually stated they want to change the rules every season aka month.
Unless they said differently elsewhere, their words in the original reveal were "Twist formats are planned to change regularly, but not necessarily with every season."
From what I remember of playing Violet months ago, I was swimming in money pretty early on and rare candies drop like...well, like candy. Could be nice for those starting out, but I don't see it as a reason to hop back into the game.
Age of wonders 4 seems a bit lackluster from what i'm reading. Only played it a bit. Everything that involves a hard "META" really puts me off, so i won't be playing this for a while.
I was interested in Age of Wonders 4; wasn't planning on playing much multiplayer, though. Not sure what it is about 4X games but I just wade around in the kiddie pool with medium-difficulty bots, playing all the factions until I get bored. Probably not worth the $50, then.
As for the topic at-hand, I've been playing Diablo IV all day every day lol. Taking a break from my Druid to work on a Rogue - they are dramatically different playstyles, so that's fun.
I finally uninstalled Hearthstone. I spend too much on the game for the small amount of enjoyment it offers me, and with our Custom Card Competitions having closed shop for now, it was time to make it official. No more of this "I'm taking a break" while it sits there and entices me to return; a hard cutoff was necessary.
I also quite literally just now uninstalled Marvel Snap from my phone. I just can't maintain a healthy, balanced relationship with the game: it's still very fun and enjoyable to play, but everything else about it pulls at the wrong parts of my brain. I play too much and spend too much out of FOMO or whatever and then I'm burnt out come the next month; I needed to divorce myself from the situation completely.
This is supposed to be the part where I slam my gun and badge on your desk, storm off and go rogue. "You're totally wrong, I love the game and this is why." But I'm not gonna do that. I can sympathize with the notion that this game might not appeal to you at present; I wouldn't consider it a 9 or 10/10, myself, and that could be seen as part of the problem when you're Blizzard and that's the expectation (or at least was at one point). Diablo IV appeals to me, though, so maybe that makes me a filthy casual lol.
Either way, I'll keep the light on for ya :) When we reach Seasons or something that truly elevates the game to the next level, a la the "Loot 2.0" update in Diablo III, maybe we can team up. Make an Out of Games clan haha 🙂
I'm loving the game: cleared the campaign, so now I'm tiding up 100% completion on my original character before I consider making new ones. Some things carry over between characters - the Altars of Lilith give stat bonuses, for example. Beyond that it's Diablo, only more open world and slightly MMO-y in-that you can occasionally find other people wandering around doing stuff. You can dive in and kill the same enemies, then part ways with nary a conversation.
People whine about the expensive microtransactions, but (so far) they are only cosmetic in nature. Skins for your weapons, armor, horses, etc.
Season Passes will be a thing, and we know there will be character boosts on the Pass, but none of them will be on the paid parts of the track - they will all be on the free side. Thus, it can only be "Pay 2 Win" if there exists a way to scoot ahead in the Pass tiers. Unfortunately(?), the Ultimate version of the game does just that for Season 1, so I expect this might continue down the line.
Don't know how much you know about ARPGs or Diablo in general, but "Seasons" are when you start over from scratch and roll new characters with some kind of additional tweak to gameplay, available items, bonus powers, etc. for the duration of that Season. You can still play your original characters on the "Eternal" servers, but for some the game truly begins when the Seasons do. Season 1 will start in July.
All of this is optional...other than the $70 upfront, of course. You can buy the game then go about your business without an additional penny spent: take the free parts of the Season Passes as they come, maybe buy the expansions when they drop.
I only amount to two of those deaths: once against The Butcher at level 28, and from some exploding corpses yesterday at level 58.
Clearly not playing as fast as some people - there are players with multiple 50+ characters already, and I've got just the one that ain't even close to 100 D: "Go at your own speed", indeed. Currently wandering around trying to 100% the Altars and renown bonuses.
I agree with Caro: I only have two characters at 54 and 20 so far, plus the time I spent messing around in the beta, but it's quickly becoming my favorite Diablo and I don't say that lightly.
Regis believes she could have some good utility: her use in a Move deck is obvious, but maybe you can use her to be a sneaky 2-drop. Like if you want to move your Devil Dinosaur away from an upcoming Shang-Chi, or maybe move your Wong out of Cosmo's influence, etc. etc. She could be clunky sometimes because there will be moments you don't want to move stuff, but she could be like Jeff in-that you just slot her in anyway for the positive outcomes. There's also an idea of using a package of cards like Ghost-Spider + Spider-Man 2099 inside of another main deck.
All-in-all, it's possible she becomes a staple like Jeff, Lizard, or Luke Cage where you could see her in various homes for various reasons, not just as a Move-enabler. Ghost-Spider isn't seemingly Spider-Ham-levels of busted, but could be a perfectly fine card.
I believe that's how "costs Health" works now: it is no longer considered damage, which is why you cannot protect yourself with Immune or something like Felstring Harp.
This is awesome: the more exposure Ratchet & Clank can get, the better in my opinion. Now they just need to port the earlier titles, so people who haven't experienced this very-fun and humorous series can play it :D Rift Apart was pretty great, but newcomers won't know who anyone is lol
I apologize if there wasn't enough emphasis on the prizes, but we did mention this in our Discord: the information has been pinned in the hearth-fancreations channel since before the season began. Here on the site it was in the headline of an article when the season began, mentioned in the Card Design Conversation, and again a few times in-passing throughout the season. I'll be the first to admit we could have structured it better - this was an experiment - but the information was available.
Well I was in first place for a long time, but so much for that lol. Wailor blew by me this season, and there may be no opportunity to reclaim the throne, as it were :/

Love this build I saw online suggesting you run Harlequin's Crest and Doombringer on your Trap Rogue. Yeah, let me get right on that >_>
It was like Ego, where the game would play your cards for you, but only on turn 5.

Doesn't introduce any weird gimmicks into gameplay yet. I won't be surprised if it happens, to spice things up.

"Umm...so actually Mary Jane says that line, not Aunt May." - someone out there, probably.
Pulled Knull from a box yesterday...then Galactus gets nerfed...then Galactus appears in my shop lol. Too late, game!

Corrupting childhood memories one machine gun at a time; it's like something out of a NRA fever-dream.
"Odin Backwards is Dino" You almost got me lol
