I wish they release a legendary murloc for shaman too :)
getting nightmares from murlocs already, are we really waiting for this? I am not, shamans and pally murloc decks, oh dear what an expansion ths is going to be :(
I'm confused. I though only demons had the dormant mechanic?
Giving paladin demons would be awkward.
The feeling I get when seeing these is the same feeling I got when I saw Scargil: disappointment that they forewent anything interesting and resorted to murlocs instead.
Except it's worse this time because at least murlocs fit shaman flavour-wise. I've never understood why Paladin is a murloc class
Because generating and maintaining board is part of paladin's identity so its only natural that they would move towards something with tribe synergy. Why'd it had to be murlocs? Because hearthstone.
its cause theyre just little dudes
I wonder if Murloc Shaman will be a thing as Underbelly Angler and Scargil are still in Standard.
Divine shield and deathrattle is such a bad combination. It just leaves it open to silence effects for another turn. I
Murgur Murgurgle. Now that's a name. The prime version of this card is nuts. But the card itself is flexible so it can find itself into just about any paladin deck.
The real power of this card is that it buffs Underbelly Angler.
Imprisoned Sungill. Meh really. Is there something to be said for a slightly beefed up Murloc Tidehunter that only shows up 2 turns later? If there is more board based buffs introduced in later expansions, this card may actually be good. As it stands right now, its only contribution is to make a slightly annoying board for 1 mana. Combo with Coldlight Seer to be make an even more annoying board on 3.
It also buffs Underlight Angling Rod, which is a paladin card.
The legendary is good 2/1 ds murloc for 2 is fair.. Tip the scale decks played a 2 mana 2/3 murloc (Findley) so...
The rare is unplayable, it's total trash.
There are no Murlocs in Outland
blizz pls
If I recall correctly, there's a questline in Zangarmarsh where you let baby murlocs into the wild. It's been a hot minute since I did quests in Outland, but I do recall something involving them. These are probably meant to be those murlocs all grown up.
I remember this one as well but the murlocs were clearly presented as being importated from Azeroth. There was also a boss that summons murlocs in the Serpentshrine raid but again he was a sea giant so he came from Azeroth. Still weird to see murlocs in an Outland expansion.
It's OK, the flavour text acknowledges the murlocs are not native to outland.
I feel like Murgur is never bad. A 2 mana 2/1 with divine shield isn't ideal but it is perfectly serviceable. I mean a 2/2 with divine shield was one of the best two drops ever printed. On top of that you get a large board for 8 mana out of the prime. This could be good even in a control deck with no other murlocs.
Err, OK then. That's a long way from the naaru I was expecting. It's a shame I stopped enjoying murloc decks about 4 years ago, so I can't say I care for these guys at all.
And here I thought we would have received some more Libram support with the remaining cards...
The ones we received today are not bad by any means, it's just that I was so hyped for the other archetype that I really hoped to get some more frosting on the cake.
Murgur Murgurgle seems fantastic - the divine shield helps it stick to the board long enough to buff it, etc., and if you end up late in the game as a token/aggro deck, Murgurgle Prime can be a very useful reload when you need to get a board to stick long enough to close the game out.
I'm not as impressed by Imprisoned Sungill. Murlocs have historically tried to win the board very early, so spending your first turn doing nothing feels very bad, and the payoff isn't immediately impactful. Maybe it will pair well enough with Righteous Cause to make for an effective buff combo, but now you have to draw two cards pretty early in the game to make that combo useful. Ultimately I don't see it being consistent enough to be good.
