Blizzard is hosting a special mech-themed event next week featuring 16 of Hearthstone's greatest. The invited players will receive a set number of card packs and gold, alongside all the cards being updated in the upcoming buffs patch. Here's what is going down.
- The 16 invited players are assembled into groups.
- All players will be opening their packs on stream the day before the event, June 3.
- By winning games in the inn-vitational, they earn a point that can be spent later in the tournament on perks, and one set of additional packs.
Everything will be streamed live on the PlayHearthstone Twitch channel starting at 8 AM Pacific (11 AM Eastern, 5 PM CEST) on June 4.
The Perks
- Disenchant a card from either of your opponent’s decks per point earned. Your opponent has to replace it with a different card.
- Spend a point to open a set of packs of your choosing. Teams will choose from any set available from previous rounds.
- If a team has earned the maximum of 4 points, they can redeem them all to… well, you’ll just have to see!

Quote From Blizzard Arch-Villain Rafaam has sent Blastmaster Boom back to the drawing board, and now that he’s finished perfecting his pet projects, the League of E.V.I.L. is in desperate need of new test subjects. Whoever is most eager to impress during the upcoming Mechanical Inn-vitational could even find themselves promoted to E.V.I.L. Employee of the Month!
Blastmaster Boom has cooked up an exciting new format to test the mettle of these would-be top employees. Participants will be divided into teams of two players, and to prove their adeptness to Blastmaster Boom, they will initially craft decks using only the following:
- The updated cards from the latest Hearthstone 14.4 update.
- 20 Classic card packs
- 20 The Witchwood card packs
- 20 The Boomsday Project card packs
- 20 Rastakhan’s Rumble card packs
- 40 Rise of Shadows card packs
- 5,000 gold
The Mechanical Inn-vitational will feature competitors from North America playing live on set against teams from around the world. Participants won't be able to earn gold through Arena, or from Ranked play wins or daily quests. Teams who secure a victory will earn a point (which they can spend on perks later in the tournament), and one set of additional packs, with the choices being:
- 6 Rise of Shadows packs OR
- 9 The Witchwood packs OR
- 9 The Boomsday Project packs OR
- 9 Rastakhan's Rumble packs
To ensure a fair fight, all competitors will be given the same additional variety of packs that the on-stream teams open after they win a match. Teams will be able to modify one deck between each game, and before the finals, earned points can be redeemed for the following perks.
Overseeing the mayhem will be the esteemed Bil “Jump” Carter, who, as host, will make sure no cheating ensues. Dan "Frodan" Chou and Michael "Heatwave" Lancaster will be on hand to provide commentary .
Card packs will be opened June 3 2019 on each participating player's stream. Check back for links to their stream once the players are revealed!
On June 4 2019, the Mechanical Inn-vitational will begin at 8:00 a.m. PST on twitch.tv/PlayHearthstone, youtube.com/PlayHearthstone, and on your favorite player's stream!

Will be interesting to see how the deck creation works out will we see same old or some out there creations could be good
Wait but I want to play in a HS almost-cube tournament!
I really hope this is leading up to a wider release of a new format for everyone. This sounds like an amazing format and so much fun to play.
If its a trial for some sort of Sealed Format then yay! If not then boo.....
Wonder how many streamers were overlooked or turn downed the opportunity for us to end up with the roster of players we have?
It's great to see things changed up a little so that we're not always seeing the same people. However, some of the choices for invitees are rather interesting.
I suspect Blizzard is very intentionally bringing in outsiders to create growth opportunities. If we can get a big LOL player like Bunny Fufuu to bring even a fraction of his audience into Hearthstone, that's great for the game in my mind. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't have turned down the invite, but I love seeing non-endemic creators getting the opportunity to help grow the reach of Hearthstone.
If that's the case, I look forward to Shroud and Ninja at one of the future Inn-vitationals.
I was excited to read this until I found that none of it would include me.
Don't get me wrong, I am glad they are doing an event, but I won't be watching it.
Its cool that they're doing this, but wouldn't it be nice to hold one for the greater community and not just pro players who already make money streaming/ winning tournaments.
This looks intresting. i am waiting for Kripp and Thijs !!
Dunno, not a fan of these streaming events, where there's not a full-blown competition...
Are there any rewards for normal people from this? Some packs or something?
Look! An awesome new format that I can't play!
Whose know, it could be a trial run for a future format we can all play?
LMAO, I've heard that so many times of the years. Who knows never had buffs before, can only hope
Sounds like modern gaming
Well I'm glad streamers get their own private event.
