PlayStation Plus Adds 18 Games to Their Extra and Premium Tiers, Including a Variety of Far Cry and Yakuza Titles

It’s that time of the month again, where we see what new titles grace the PS Plus service. This is the last addition of the year, and it seems to be a fairly significant one. All but one of the games listed here will arrive on December 20th.

This article is about the Extra and Premium/Deluxe tiers. If you’re looking for the Essential games, we have a dedicated article. As usual, you can check how the service stacks up against the competition in our PS Plus vs Game Pass article.

All the games available on the Extra tier are also available for Premium/Deluxe subscribers.

WWE 2K22 (PS4)

The latest in title in the WWE series of games, this one comes with a redesigned gameplay engine and new controls. The game sports (pun intended) two single-player campaigns, and it also allows you to play in multiplayer locally or online.

Unlike the other titles in this article, this one releases on January 3rd.

Far Cry 5, New Dawn, & Primal (PS4)

We have 3 Far Cry titles heading to PS Plus. Far Cry 5 sees you going up against a cult in rural USA, New Dawn is a direct continuation of the events from 5, and Primal heads into the very distant past where guns and trucks are replaced with bows and mammoths.

Mortal Shell (PS4, PS5)

Nobody move! Mortal Shell is a souls-like game where you take over the bodies of fallen warriors and used them as your own (the titular Mortal Shell). Discover a desolated world full of horrors, as you brave it with the husk you acquired.

Yakuza 6: The Song of Life & Like a Dragon + Judgement (PS4 all, PS5 the latter two)

Two Yakuza games are joining PS Plus, and those are the last two missing from the storefront. Players can now enjoy the entire Yakuza series on PS Plus, though it’s worth noting that 3, 4 and 5 are only available to Premium/Deluxe subscribers.

If you’re new to the series, it’s worth noting that the games changed their name some time ago. Aside from the two Yakuza games, spin-off title Judgement is also added to service, where you play as a private detective rather than a member of the Yakuza.

Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor & Shadow of War (PS4)

The two titles in the Middle Earth series focus on you playing as a human merged with the spirit of an elf as they take on the orc armies of Mordor. The action-adventure games are best known for the Nemesis system, which give greater story significance to enemies that manage to defeat you, turning them into personal, recurring characters.

The Pedestrian (PS4, PS5)

A very unique puzzle-platformer where you play as a stick drawing on various road signs and other surfaces. You’ll need to guide your little friend across various environments, by rearranging the platforms and connecting them in various ways.

Evil Genius 2: World Domination (PS4, PS5)

This game can best be described as “Bond Villain Simulator”. You’ll take control of an army of minions, who will help in building your base, conducting evil schemes, and, eventually, TAKING OVER THE WORLD! Mwahahaha!

Adventure Time Pirates of the Enchiridion (PS4)

A turn-based RPG set in the world of Ooo. Travel the world with Finn, Jake, and friends, as you try to figure out why the Ice Kingdom has melted and how to fix it.

Ben 10: Power Trip (PS4, PS5)

The evil sorccerer Hex has taken over Europe! Take him down as Ben by transforming into various aliens and using their ability to explore the open world. Play solo or in couch co-up, with player two taking the role of Kevin.

Gigantosaurus The Game (PS4)

Team up with up to 3 other players in this 3D platformer where you play as tiny dinosaurs and explore the world of Giganto.

Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire – Ultimate Edition (PS4)

A single-player RPG from Obsidian Entertainment, the creators of the original Fallout game, set in an enormous fantasy open-world. Choose your style of combat between real-time with pauses and turn-based. The Ultimate Edition comes with all the DLC and updates included.

Worms W.M.D. (PS4)

Blast your friends with various weapons of mass destruction in what is the ultimate Worms experience. The game also introduces vehicles, crafting, and building, and offers a large single-player campaign.

The Escapists 2

Do you know how to escape a US maximum security prison? Well, you’d better learn, because The Escapists 2 asks you to do exactly that in this pixel-art game with great character costumization.

All PSP and PS1 games are enhanced with up-rendering, rewind, quick save, and custom video filters. All the PS3 games are available only for streaming, and only for Premium subscribers.

Ridge Racer 2 (PSP)

A classic arcade-y racer that lets you race around the world in a variety of sports cars.

Heavenly Sword (PS3)

One of the earliest games from Ninja Theory, the studio behind Hellblade and DmC: Devil May Cry. This is a hack and slash adventure set in a fantasy world that centers around the titular sword.

Oddworld: Abe’s Exodus (PS1)

A puzzle-platformer where you guide members of your species through a deadly factory as you try to set them free. This is the second game in the series, with the first being available on PS Plus as the “New ‘n Tasty” remaster.

Pinball Heroes (PSP)

It’s pinball. There are 8 boards, inspired by various PlayStation titles. Not much else to say. The trailer is for the Vita version, but the game is more or less the same (minus online functionality).
