Quote From Joemag You'll have the event cards for about 2 months. We wanted to kick off the Wild cards in a big way as part of Hallow's End but they will last longer than that event.
Quote From Blizzard Legends have told of dangers lurking within the Haunted Temple of Uldum and the grand ancient treasures they conceal. Of course, “treasure” was all anyone had to mention to get Reno and Rafaam on board, and now their sights are set on acquiring the temple’s powerful artifacts for their own campaigns!
It won’t be an easy task, though. While our Heroes and Villains battle to push deeper through the Haunted Temple, the Headless Horseman has resorted to a nefarious contingency and opened a sealed sarcophagus full of WILD terrors. Now it will be up to you to aid the conquests of good, or E.V.I.L, in a race to uncover the tomb’s precious secrets and escape the doom in the tomb!
Step into the Haunted Tomb
The spooky spelunking adventures begin at 10:00 AM PT on October 8 and end at 9:00 AM PT on October 30 – three weeks packed full of new activities to participate in:
Unique Tavern Brawls
Week 1: Doom in the Tomb, Part 1
- Gear up with your favorite member from the League of E.V.I.L and delve into the Haunted Temple, full of the baddest bosses in Uldum! The clock is running, too – race to set the record for the fastest Temple run!
- Rewards
- Complete a run in under 1 hour and earn a Rastakhan’s Rumble Card Pack.
- Complete a run in under 40 minutes to earn a Golden Common Ancient Mysteries!
Week 2: Doom in the Tomb, Part 2
- E.V.I.L has their turn, and now it’s up to Reno and the League of Explorers to join the run and flex their Temple diving speed. New enemies and challenges await!
- Rewards
- Complete a run in under 1 hour and receive a Golden Common Temple Berserker
- Complete a run in under 40 minutes to earn a Golden Rare Generous Mummy
Week 3: The Haunted Carousel
- Get ready for the big mix-up! In this Tavern Brawl, you’ll need to strategize around minions constantly rotating board positions – all while controlling the Horseman’s time-shifted Dreadsteeds!
- Rewards
- Summon 100 Dreadsteeds to earn a Rise of Shadows Card Pack
Treasures from the Tomb
23 cards from across Hearthstone history have been unsealed from Wild and unleashed by the Headless Horseman! Until our next major update, these cards are stepping out of Wild and will be playable in Standard matches. To ensure that everyone can participate in this meta-mixing event, we’ll be granting everyone free copies of each card (these copies cannot be disenchanted or crafted) so they can add these heavy-hitters to their decks and get straight into the action.
These cards will be considered "event" cards, which essentially means that they're temporary copies and not permanent additions to your collection. Even if you already own the cards, you'll still receive these event copies. When the event ends they'll disappear, just like the Headless Horseman himself!

- Players who have an active Arena run when this begins will have their current run ended and will receive an Arena Ticket as compensation.

Comments
Yeah there was an announcement trailer on discord so pretty sure it was the announcement
What part of this is not an actual announcement? They are announcing how they are doing the Halloween event. If the only time Blizzard talked about the game was when they were making MASSIVE changes, we would never hear from them and you'd complain about a lack of communication.
Also, the Wild cards coming to Standard that were announced right here are something that impacts "Hearthstone as a Whole". It's the first time Blizzard has done something like this and may pave the way for future changes.
AAANNNNNDDDD, FYI most people are content with three expansions a year and a new variation of Dungeon of Run with each of those. What do you want? New expac every month? I'm not saying it wouldn't be nice to get a new format but are you really taking the stand that until they announce something in that vein that all announcements are non-factors? That isn't a hill I would die on buddy.
I’m not one of those who complain about lack of communication because I understand that if there is nothing that needs to be said then nothing should be said.
Anything we hear about now a days comes in the form of a hype engine meant to sell products, which I’m not complaining about particularly because if we don’t want HS to go the way of HotS we need Team 5 to perform well financially.
Adding old cards into Standard TEMPORARILY does not affect HS as a whole, it merely stifles some of the staleness of a solved meta which is appreciated, but ultimately ineffective in the long run if Team 5 follows the same formula.
If this is the start of something we’ll begin to see every expansion, then awesome, more Wild cards coming back into the fray. Only time will tell us that though.
Players are content with what they have until they’re tired of it (yes it sounds dumb because it can be applied to literally everything) but my philosophy is give players an abundance of content that doesn’t get dry too quickly (Expansions become dry depending on how well they change the meta/when the balance changes come along)(I don’t know about everyone else, but once I’ve heated the single player content I never go back to it) and a simple way to do that is simply reallocating whatever resources they’re using to make “bundles” and place then somewhere that is healthy for the game
So what would you expect for a lead up to the Halloween in game event? The event should be hyped up should it not? Should they have said nothing and then just rolled into the Halloween event? Hype like this gets people to return the game, and once they return it's good to have bundles for sale so that if they want to play more seriously they can pick up some packs at a discount. I don't think we should be removing resources from product development. I understand your content above all viewpoint, but I think you're missing the bigger picture here. It's a card game, they are designed to allow the players to create their own content.
To reiterate I understand your viewpoint that there isn't enough content in Hearthstone, but I disagree almost entirely with that premise. I just don't see this content vacuum you seem to think there is when it comes to Hearthstone. There is plenty to do, plenty to accomplish, and I have never run out of ways to have fun with the game since I started playing in Naxx.
Who am I? None of your business.
Hope I can use my golden swashburglars
The new arena rotation surely means "Classic" instead of "Standard" right?
The warrior cards seem far below the power of what everyone else is getting. Bloodhoof Brave is a nice taunt but not really what control warrior is looking for. Cornered Sentry or Alley Armorsmith are more in line for them. Where's Death's Bite? Great for quest warrior. Perfect for Plague of Wrath. Seems like an excellent time to chomp some death.
Shieldmaiden? Another popular and powerful card. Even Iron Juggernaut for the bomb memes?
A card I would have liked to see back would be Sparring Partner. Very interesting card that was mostly overlooked in its day. The fact that it targets any minion has really interesting applications for tempo warrior and control alike. Applications that were mostly lost on me back in 2015.
Varian Wrynn is and always will be a fun meme card, minus the fun half the time. I'll def tryout a Dimensional Ripper, Hakkar, the Soulflayer deck with him but I think we all know how that's gonna go.
These cards seem far from the most powerful or most popular warrior cards. It shows blizz is terrified of giving warrior anything more right now. Which should scare us too.
You forget that there's actually a lot of support for Big Warrior: just to name a few, we have The Boomship, The Boom Reaver, Blatant Decoy and Colossus of the Moon. And I'm not even counting Archmage Vargoth and Grommash Hellscream.
It will not be tier 1, but trust me: you'll lose much less games than now.
The issue with big warrior is not that there are not enough ways to summon minions, or that there isn't enough big minions but the problem is that all of the cheat cards cost 9-10 mana.
Big Priest and Big Shaman both try and win by putting minions on the field several turns before they are supposed to be on the field. A turn 4/5 Walking Fountainor Obsidian Statue is far more likely to win you the game than a turn 10 Armagedillo and [Hearthstone Card (Colossus of Moon) Not Found] because at that point in the game your opponent will have the mana to play any card in their deck and they have had plenty of time to develop a board.
What Big Warrior needs to be at least tier 2 is some kind of cheap way to cheat out minions
While I agree with you on this point, you also have to consider that Warrior has premium removals like Brawl, Warpath and Shield Slam, which can deny your opponent's plays for the first turns of the match without the urge of playing minions.
Yes, haha. Thanks for pointing that out. They actually didnt list "Basic" and "Classic" sets in the blog, i added them for convenience. Id assume they will be there, cant rly imagine they wouldnt lol, tho it would be interesting scenario for sure :) But i removed them for now to not confuse ppl about already confusing situation that is them not being mentioned in the blog.
I think you missed that warlock (already the worst class standard) is getting an unplayable joke-meme card as one of its two.
Well I for one am very excited to play renounce darkness warlock.
But hey, to each his own. Some people like competitive cards, some people like more janky/meme cards.
HSreplay has mage below warlock. And Imp Gang Boss is an amazing card for zoo. Rag/sylv could work as well. In fact, the neutral legendaries all have had great success in warlocks of the past so I wouldn't count warlock out just yet.
And all but maybe 2 classes got at least 1 card that doesn't really fit any current decks so I wouldn't feel too bad about that.
I'm sure warrior is going to be able to run all the neutral legendaries so maybe that's why they lowballed the class cards so hard. Just a shame as there are plenty of great cards i would have rather seen back.
The official page says ALL these set will be in the upcoming arena rotation :
https://playhearthstone.com/en-us/blog/23156374
Curse of Naxxramas
Goblins vs. Gnomes
Blackrock Mountain
The Grand Tournament
League of Explorers
Whispers of the Old Gods
One Night in Karazhan
Mean Streets of Gadgetzan
Journey to Un'Goro
Knights of the Frozen Throne
Kobolds & Catacombs
I assume that it will include Classic & Basic as well? Yes? But no Standard expansions.
[Edit: Over in the Arena subreddit they seem to think it will be just the above sets and NO basic and classic cards. Interesting if it's true.]
Sorry, that was my bad. We originally had wrong sets listed (current rotation), or were they wrongly listed originally in the blog too? When i made the edit, i added Basic and Classic for convenience, but it is true that was just an assumption, we dont know for sure as of yet. Tho i cant rly imagine rotation without them, even tho it would be an interesting experiment.
I interpret that list as Reddit does, so no Classic and Basic. Also Blizz must have edited that part of the blog after we took the quote, I don't think we ever edit the blog texts in any way.
To summarize, this monthly event will reward you with:
I mean, not bad at all!
Nothing about the new portraits?
Nope, guess that's going to be a surprise!
Seeing as how the event starts on Tuesday, I'd expect a patch on Monday or Tuesday and hopefully, they'll be included. We'll get them rendered ASAP so we have awesome previews.
