We're getting some card balance changes in Hearthstone next week! Blizzard is giving us all a heads up due to the Masters Tour Undercity event that will be taking place next weekend. Here are the changes:
- Renew - Cost decreased to 1 Mana (From 2).
- Razormane Battleguard - Health decreased to 2 (Down from 3).
- Arcanist Dawngrasp - Provides +2 Spell Damage (Down from +3). (Questline reward from Sorcerer's Gambit)
- Garrote - Shuffle 2 Bleeds into your deck (Down from 3).
All these changes are going to live in a balance patch next week. The card nerfs will all be eligible for a dust refund for two weeks following the patch, but Renew won't be since it is a buff, Sorcerer's Gambit will be the disenchant target for the Dawngrasp nerf. Once the patch notes arrive next week prior to the patch going live, we'll get to see the dev commentary for why these changes are being made. Read on for the official post.
Quote From GnomeSayin Hello all,
We will be making some card changes in a patch going out early next week that we wanted to let you know about, to give players time to prepare for Masters Tour: Undercity, taking place from November 19-21. These are the cards that will be changing:
Razormane Battleguard
Old: 2 Attack, 3 Health → New: 2 Attack, 2 Health
Arcanist Dawngrasp (Mage Questline final reward)
Old: Battlecry: For the rest of the game, you have Spell Damage +3. → New: For the rest of the game, you have Spell Damage +2.
Garrote
Old: Deal 2 damage to the enemy hero. Shuffle 3 Bleeds into your deck that deal 2 more when drawn. → New: Deal 2 damage to the enemy hero. Shuffle 2 Bleeds into your deck that deal 2 more when drawn.
Renew
Old: [Costs 2] → New: [Costs 1]
The first three cards will be eligible for the normal full-dust refund for two weeks following the patch. Renew, which will go up in power level, will not get a dust refund. Keep an eye out for Patch Notes early next week for dev comments on these balance changes and more.

Big Warrior is probably the deck they're talking about. Quest is mediocre, but Big has almost no bad matchups outside of Mage.
If the next expansion launches on dec 6th as the actual tavern pass period "ends(according to the image below)", maybe this will be the pre-order patch? So...with the arrival of deadmines mini set late and knowing that expansions are 4 month long on average(release of stormwind: aug 3rd)... Maybe an announcement of next xpac late next week?
so we are nerfing tier 3 decks now? Does quest mage even have a 50% win rate? Maybe it does at lower ranks with big bliz data..
It doesn't. The whole point is that the deck feels like shit to play against despite it having a bad winrate, yet people will not stop playing it despite all the data which fucks the meta sideways because despite it's terrible winrate it completely shuts down slower gameplans due to the nature of its gameplan.
Effectively we have a meta where you'Re forced to play fast because people insist on playing a terrible deck that just so happens to autowin control matchups (which there wouldn't even be many of anyways).
To sum it up. The community was too stupid to regulate itself so the devs had to step in, which I find hilarious.
Quest Mage player spotted.
Blizzard nerfs based on game experience. They would nerf a Tier 8 Deck if it had an uninteractive way to win and a ridiculous playrate like Quest Mage does.
Never Fails... Mage finally sees the light of day, and it has to get nerfed.
Quest Mage player s in the mud ha ha
Stay salty Quest Mage scumm
Will this be it? Will I finally see the end of the hated quest mage? Now that the reward only grant +2 spell damage, it might be arguable that youre better off just playing Imprisoned Phoenix. It was only to be inevitable anyway, because I'd never believe wholeheartedly that team5 will leave it until the next expansion, given how polarizing this deck actually is. It may not win alot, but its very good at bursting blood vessels. Probably the one reason I held off from meming and just play garotte rogue.
Which brings us to the nerf to Garrote, which in my opinion, only needed a change so the bleeds dont scale with spell power. What this nerf essentially does is to ensure that Guild Trader is a near mandatory inclusion, and you need to save at least one of the augmerchants for a finish at the end. Either that, or you play one additional Wicked Stab (Rank 1). Either way, I dont think this is the end, but the end of quest mage means more tempo decks and that means garotte rogue will eventually get worse one way or another. Still think its the best deck though.
Razormane Battleguard nerf is fine, probably to be expected given how powerful taunt druid is at cheesing early games. Renew renewal is also fine but wont be changing much, and kinda makes us wonder what was the point of nerfing this in the first place considering that when it was nerfed it was literally 2 weeks before stormwind.
Well, blizz, that's more than enough teases. Bring on the new expansion announcement of an announcement already. We all know its Alterac Valley, just give it to us - and the usual mandatory initial card reveal.
Global spell damage for the rest of the game without a stick is still good.
Good fucking riddance to quest mage, thank you blizz.
Druid and rogue nerfs were needed. Priest unnerf probably won't achieve a thing.
