Back in Scholomance Academy, Blizzard added a fun card that has a different effect depending on the board it was played on. This card, is Transfer Student.
Throughout the expansions since Scholomance launched, we've seen updates to the card which make it work with newly introduced boards so that the new expansion's mechanics would work with it. We've got confirmation that Transfer Student is getting another update, this time for the Fractured in Alterac Valley board which will see the following effect on Transfer Student:
Battlecry: Deal 1 damage. Honorable Kill: Gain +1/+1.
For those that aren't aware of what the Honorable Kill keyword is, it is the newest keyword to join Hearthstone. The text provided after the keyword will activate only if your card deals exact lethal damage to an enemy minion, and only on your turn. So far, we've seen 6 new cards with this keyword, and you can find all those in our card database or for a more full overview of what to expect in the new expansion, you can see our Fractured in Alterac Valley expansion guide.
Knowing that we're inevitably going to be receiving an achievement with needing to activate the new Honorable Kill keyword, we can expect to have a small opportunity to start to make progress on said unreleased achievement once the patch drops for Alterac Valley. The 22.0 patch should release in the week before Fractured in Alterac Valley's launch, giving us at least that weekend to work towards those goals. Of course, nothing is confirmed now so we'll have to wait and see if that achievement even makes a release, but the game board will be added to the rotation in the same patch, so we can definitely get to experiment with the mechanic before release.

Nah unfortunately starting next year it will be just "get Random card from Expansion X"
I haven't played or seen this card in a while. Did they update it for Barrens , Stormwind, or Darkmoon for their respective keywords? It would be nice if Transfer Student could get a yearly update for all sets going forward.
It gets a new effect every time a new board is added to Standard/Wild. It has an effect for every board that can appear in a Wild game.
Okaay, just lost my bet in one of reddit’s questionnaire...I just predicted “no” for that card getting the Honorable Kill. Felt like a moron lel.
For the card, would rather have defensive options like divine shield, etc. But the battlecry will do some good job I guess.
I wish this card was 3 mana so we can have more flexible stats/effects. Or a new card with more random effect like this one? I hope so, just not another Puzzle Box.
Does anyone know if the beast pool of Deathstalker Rexxar still gets updated every expansion? I believe they mentioned they would stop doing so.
The beast pool was updated from every expansion. You could see it back in the Rise of the Zombeasts tavern brawl. It's just that the influx of new beasts is fairly limited lately. Deathstalker Rexxar only uses Beasts that have an effect or have a keyword, not both. So things like Teacher's Pet, Venomous Scorpid, and even technically Circus Amalgam are out because they have an ability and an effect.

Nearly forgot that this card actually existed. Which is amazing considering that its likely one of the best 2 tempo 2 drop available, with only small downsides based on rng.
Kinda shows how far we've gone from regular curvestone.
I hope after rotation it keeps getting effects based on new boards instead of "Battlecry: Add a random -Insert Expansion's Name- card to your hand", like they said. But i guess who cares about wild :(
Pretty sure they said something during Scholomance’s expansion cycle that it would get updates while in Standard but likely would not once in Wild.
Can’t remember if they had a distinct plan but if they don’t update it the new boards after AV will probably just be “Battlecry: Discover a card from (set).” with (set) being whatever set that board is from.

Well even if what I'm remembering is correct it may not be set in stone, which would be pretty fun honestly. Perhaps they will update it over time. But my guess is they won't. It's not exactly a card that sees a lot of play (if any) in Wild.
That would be really cool!
