We've got a teaser from Blizzard this afternoon in the form of a short video clip. You can see the porthole of a ship, underwater scenery, and sonar beeps. What does this all mean?
Update: Expansion is confirmed to be called Voyage to the Sunken City.
We'll be keeping track of everything to do with Voyage to the Sunken City in our expansion guide.
Nazjatar & Vashj'ir
Well, for starters, this could be Nazjatar! Dean Ayala had mentioned that it would be "interesting" when someone had asked a couple of months ago if there would ever be a Nazjatar expansion. World of Warcraft visited this area in the recent Battle for Azeroth expansion and got to fight Queen Azshara - who we've seen in the Demon Hunter Prologue. Wouldn't it be cool if the leader of the Naga finally became a collectible Legendary card.
Vashj'ir is also a possibility. It is an underwater region off the coast of Eastern Kingdoms, and was the home of Lady Vashj prior to the Great Sundering - when the well of eternity exploded at the end of the War of the Ancients. World of Warcraft saw this area introduced back in the Cataclysm expansion in 2010 and it was the first fully-underwater zone added to the game.
Could Naga Join as a New Race?
The only things confirmed so far for this year are an old keyword returning and new card types. It would be interesting to see the team also bring in Naga as a new race/tribe, leading to new synergies. There are some existing Naga cards that would likely receive updates if such a race was implemented.
None of the above cards are in Standard right now, maybe those cards will be among some that get reintroduced to the rotating format via the Core set.

Man, if there is plenty of murlocs i'll be the happiest man in the world.
I can't wait to hear a tons a Mrglglgl all over my games <3
So the expansion got leaked already. Wanna guess who's fault it was this time? Yeah you are right, it's
To be fair, it might not be their fault per se. The announcement was supposed to happen yesterday and Blizz said many times in the past, that whatever is put in Google Play Store or Apple Store is usually pre-set weeks in advance. So it was probably supposed to come day after, but alas.
Ooh, I think I might need to go watch the cinematic (?) where Azshara threatens N'Zoth that without her he'll be
"The god
of Nothing."
N'zoth 3 underwater boogaloo
Imagine a n'zoth hero card (maybe in mini set).
You play warlock as n'zoth, then can play n'zoth twice
and then you can play n'zoth to turn from n'zoth into n'zoth.
N'zoth-ception !
N'zoth, the even deeper God
pirate warrior about to receive a card. Thats wild
It's all fun and games until we realise this probably means more pirates in warrior and yet another mage skin for the pre-order (I'm looking at you Azshara).
To be fair Pirate Warrior in Standard is pretty garbage without further support and in Wild it's only a positive if it gets more busted support because that means it'll get nerfed again.
That's assuming it does get nerfed again, and that the nerf won't be another one that's so light that it changes basically nothing.
Ultimately I'm no less fed up of the questlines than I was during UiS, and I don't relish the thought of one of the more egregious ones continuing to be at the centre of its respective class.
I doubt pirate warrior in standard will ever be good. Even pre-nerf it was a terribly linear deck of which any high level player thats not playing druid easily beats. The only way it'll ever be as broken as it is in wild is that team5 prints a ton of cheap pirates and somehow gives warrior decent card draw as well.
Both I don't anticipate would ever happen. We're going deep into the ocean, and its murloc's time to shine damnit.
I'm so unimaginably happy, I've wanted an ocean-themed expansion for years (remember back when the firs teaser for Rastakhan's Rumble was released and people thought it would have been a pirate-themed expansion because of a fake leak? I never lost hope).
There's so much potential with this, so many aquatic Beasts that can be used in Druid and Hunter, Murlocs for Shaman and Paladin, Pirates for Rogue and Warrior, and even Elementals (idk what else hangs around down there).
Now I believe all the hype from the devs about this being their favourite expansion.
Hey, this doesn't look like Pandaria and Monk class. (Joking)
More than expect that Naga will be the next tribe coming. For characters, I know Azshara will come. You cannot have her left out(Mage). Another one would be the Spear Battlemaiden. She was a part of the questline back in Cata in Vashj'ir. She was suppose to also appear in the Throne of Tides raid, but that raid was scrapped. Afaik, she is missing to this day as I quit in WoD. Anyways, I expect her to be a Warrior card. Ozumat, maybe? The fish of N'Zoth and N'Zoth should be around, too. Oh, and Murlocs. Both Naga and Murlocs tend to fight and are usually enslaved by the Naga.
And Neptulon for shaman, escpailyl if ozumat is aslo in
Yeah. New Neptulon. I also expect the old Neptulon to return and get buffed(removing the Overload for the most part).
or maybe he fills your hand with murlocs instead of only 4, so its more a second chance/Refill card. or veen both
I'm quite glad that we're not getting Monk, which is perfectly inline with what Dean had said last year in a Q&A.
I fully expect to see Pandaria next year though alongside Monks. They're just messing with us right now when they reference it because that's what they're working on and has been approved.
Yeah, me too. Won't lie. Got kind of annoyed when people on Reddit kept assuming Pandaria and Monk is coming this year despite Iksar saying the opposite and their work timeline wouldn't match up. Didn't help when they kept reading into it too much when the HS Twitter was just having fun with people.
Global Warming man. Pandaria never had a chance
