Although the C'thun Mercenaries event is not going to start until August 16th, we've datamined the contents of all 10 tasks you'll have to complete in order to earn the generous rewards locked behind them. This is the sixth limited-time Mercenaries event, and it closes the circle with the Old Gods appearing one by one in the Mercenaries game mode: first we had N'Zoth, then Y'Shaarj, then Yogg-Saron and now it's going to be C'thun's time to shine.

As the Patch Notes specified, some of the event's tasks will require us to build our Parties with various amounts of Dragons and Protectors Mercenaries. For completion's sake, here's a list of said characters:
- Dragons
- Protectors: Alexstrasza, Deathwing, Yu'lon.
- Fighters: Nefarian, Sinestra.
- Casters: Brightwing, Long'xin, Onyxia.
- Protectors - check out our Mercenary database.
As usual, we're going to cover the entire event with a series of guides that will break down each task, explaining to you the most efficient way to progress through everything and earn all the rewards. Although you'll still have to wait for quite some time for the aforementioned tasks, make sure to keep an eye open on our C'thun Mercenaries Event portal, which will allow you to stay updated with anything regarding it.

Instant reactions to the tasks:
As before, the early tasks seem like just a warm up. Not much to say.
Louis Phillips without humans is interesting, although on normal it's not that interesting. Builds with lots of damage in the Protector slots are fine; naga, demons, and dragons, I'm thinking.
Task 4 is the typical "do you own Cookie" task.
Normal Onyxia is whatever. Annoyingly, no C'thun coins for a reward for this, only for much older dragons.
Task 6 is where things start to get interesting. Heroic Taran Zhu on a turn limit demands you try to blitz him instead of try to outlast him. I think the pirates everyone leveled for one of the other events is probably a good comp for this.
Heroic Xaril with only Protectors will be the great divide. With Uther a protector now, you can make an almost-complete Holy Humans comp with only Protectors. Maybe dragons alongside? Vanessa VanCleef might own this if you have sustain to support her...
8 and 9 are straightforward. Heavy casters to burn up the Cow King, typical dragons for 9.
10: Cookie and his fishes say hi.
I will do taran zhu with beast cheese...mukla gives immunity and krush or xuen do the "to the death" thing
After installing patch 24.0, the Acolyte of N'Zoth bounty will reward coins for the new C'Thun and Sir Finley mercenaries.
Better start farming this (heroic) Darkshore bounty now with my Fire comp in preparation for the upcoming special event, I think.
Well spotted! Saved me some clicking over several bounties to check whether anything has been changed.
