The influx of new shop deals continues, this time for Constructed and Mercenaries!
Runestones
As a reminder, Hearthstone has got a new currency that can be used to buy everything available in the in-game shop. If you want to learn more about their pricing, check out the table below.
You can find monetary conversions of the Runestones to selected currencies below:
Runestones | USD/EUR | CAD | GBP | JPY |
500 | 4.99 | 6.25 | 3.99 | 610 |
1000 | 9.99 | 12.49 | 8.99 | 1220 |
1500 | 14.99 | 18.99 | 12.99 | 1840 |
2000 | 19.99 | 24.99 | 16.99 | 2440 |
5000 | 49.99 | 62.99 | 44.99 | 6100 |
8000 | 79.99 | 99.99 | 69.99 | 10000 |
As you may have noticed, the biggest bundles aren't actually the cheapest option to obtain Runestones. While the prices of USD/EUR bundles aren't radically different, in GBP you'd be losing a relatively high amount of money if you bought anything but the cheapest bundle. We've bolded the best deals in each currency in the table above for your convenience.
Pack Bundles
Not a pack bundle if we're being honest, but the Mini-Set is once again purchasable in full with either "normal" version or fully Golden:
- Regular Mini-Set - 1500 Runestones ($14.98) or 2000 gold
- Golden Mini-Set - 7000 Runestones or $69.99
In fact, all of the Standard Mini-Sets are available for the time being.
The Wild bundles from the last three weeks were replaced by new personalized pack deals, Tavern Special and Bob's Bargain. We've encountered the following deals for the respective bundles:
Tavern Special
- 2 random legendaries and 20 Murder at Castle Nathria packs: 2000 Runestones ($19.99)
- 3 random legendaries and 90 Wild packs: 6000 Runestones ($59.98)
Bob's Bargain
- 2 random legendaries and 25 Wild packs: 2000 Runestones ($19.99)
- 3 random legendaries and 75 Standard packs: 6000 Runestones ($59.98)
Additionally, the Golden packs for all Standard expansions still remain in the shop. The pricing for all deals is naturally the same, and the packs are purchasable with either Runestones or real money:
- 5 Packs - 2000 Runestones or $19.99
- 11 Packs - 4000 Runestones or $39.99
- 23 Packs - 8000 Runestones or $79.99
- 30 Packs - 10000 Runestones or $99.99
Constructed Skin Bundles
The cooking-related skin bundles continued with two new ones hitting the shop. The bundle from last week, Cookin' & Bakin' Bundle, still remains as well. It contains hero skins for Hunter (Brann) and Mage (Reno), as well as 5 Class packs for each aforementioned class, and a special card back. The whole thing comes with a price tag of 2500 Runestones ($24.98).
Carnivore Warriors Bundle has similar contents for Paladin (Uther) and Warrior (Garrosh), minus the card back. Therefore the bundle is a bit cheaper, priced at 2000 Runestones ($19.99).
Paladin skins don't end there! The second new bundle, Fishy Finley, has a new Finley skin for the righteous class, as well as 5 Paladin packs. The price, as could be expected, is half of that of the bundle above, 1000 Runestones ($9.99).
Battlegrounds Bundles
Nothing new for Battlegrounds this week, but all the stuff from last week still remains.
The Murlocized bundle includes a Murloc Bob bartender and Murloc-themed skins for Overlord Saurfang, Queen Wagtoggle, Shudderwock, and King Mukla, and will cost you 1000 Runestones ($9.99).
Additionally, the previous emote bundle Murloc'in Out and strike Murloc Mayhem, can be purchased with 500 Runestones each.
The paid Season Pass also remains available with 1500 Runestones or the equivalent amount of real money ($14.99).
Mercenaries Bundles
The two Mercs deals also got company in the latest shop update with another two bundles up for grabs.
Inspector Murloc Bundle comes with a price tag of 2500 Runestones ($24.98) and is aimed at a one specific legendary Mercenary - Murloc Holmes. It includes the Mercenary itself, a legendary portrait, 300 Murloc Holmes coins and 5 Mercenaries packs.
Medivh's Menagerie Bundle contains three different Mercenaries and 200 Mercenaries coins for each - Medivh, Khadgar, and Garona Halforcen. Additionally, 15 Mercenaries packs are included to justify the price tag of 4000 Runestones ($39.98).
The new Grave Trolls Bundle contains Bwonsamdi and Korrak the Bloodrager Mercenaries and 150 coins for each, as well as 10 Mercenaries packs for 3000 Runestones ($29.98). Additionally, a Bundle for Ysera was also added, coming with 10 packs and 150 coins alongside the Mercenary itself with a price tag of 2000 Runestones ($19.99).
To help with gathering the necessary coins for the new characters, the two coin bundles from last week were replaced with a mega bundle of 5 x 300 coins for random NEW Mercenaries, costing 1500 Runestones total ($14.99).

My tavern special was 3 random legendaries + 75 MCM packs for 6000 runestones
My bob's bargain was 3 random legendaries + 75 standard packs for 6000 runestones
It is, but for the Ysera merc.
If only they would also offer those hero portraits as solo items in the shop I would seriously consider buying a few of those awesome artworks. More often than not, some of the portraits in those bundles are of lesser quality than the others or I personally do not like them as much nor do I need those class specific packs. I feel like they are missing out on transactions, because only the bigger whales will buy these bigger bundles (probably), but what about us dolphins? 😂 Also, one of their main reasons for introducing runestones was to have the possibility to offer smaller shop items.
If only I played Mercs, that Ysera is beautiful.
Also that Uther with a cheeseburger made me laugh. Not enough to buy it but can't wait to play against it. I don't usually buy skins though so no surprise. (Lu Bu was the exception).
Now, I think we pretty much know these sales are going to happen, and there's absolutely nothing wrong about blizz marketing their products, but I feel at some point someone has to step in and recognize that their algorithms are doing us a disservice.
- Bob's bargain offer 2 legendaries and packs, but the amount of packs vary according to players. I usually buy only one 2 legends/20 packs at the start of the expansions (in my opinion, far more value than the preorder itself), so somehow this translates to offering me a 2 legend/50 pack bundle. In any case, with 2 months left on the expansion, wouldn't it be better to offer smaller packages to establish players and big ones to newer players? Hell, blizz could even base their algorithms on our card collection, but I suspect such is not the case.
Instead, the algorithms likely focuses on our past transaction histories, which may help in the case of whales but for the rest of us normal people the logic obviously dont apply the same way. Had there been a 1 legendary + 10 pack for 10 bucks 1000 runestones, I might be tempted. But 50? I'd keep my money where it is.
- Similarly, Ive read that players are getting offered decks for sale (I didn't get any) but I suspect that the algorithms are offering decks from most played classes. Surely, if I play mage the most I would certainly have more legendaries from mage than I would otherwise, so where's the logic here? Wouldn't it be better to, again, scan the collection manager + win rates of classes and go from there? As it stands, why would anyone buy a deck that they already have half if not all the legendaries in it?
- As for the skins, I've got reno+brann but not uther+garrosh offered. Bizarre to say the least. Almost like blizz is aware that they're offering too many skins, lowering their value, so the brand new plan here is to ensure that you can never get them all at the same time. No idea what algorithms are involved here.
Ive read some disturbing posts from reddit that attempting to buy these things with runestones results in an error i.e. you've just bought runestones that cant be used. Can anyone confirm if there's any issue with it?
These deals have nothing to do with whales. A true whale has all the cards long before these offers ever surface.
The portrait bundles are the whale-bait, but I'm not even tempted because this batch is extremely ugly and/or focused on characters I don't care about.
I'm seeing a Tavern Special bundle with 50 Nathria packs and 2 legendaries for 4000 Runestones, maybe because I bought the smaller bundle earlier. Compared to usual Hearthstone prices, this bundle is a good deal, but this far into the expansion I don't really want to spend that much money.
There is also new type of bundle that appears after you have ranked up on ladder. For me it was 17 Standard packs for 1000 Runestones after reaching Silver, not sure if it's different per player. I'm not a fan of them trying to suggest some kind of connection between ladder achievements and shop offers, as that connection is entirely artificial and only there to try and create some kind of emotional link that makes the offer feel more appealing that it actually is.
I also saw a pre-made Fel Demon Hunter deck in my shop, but as I already have all the cards, it's not very attractive. I did play a lot of DH recently, but if that was the logic for selecting this offer, it's flawed, since the fact that I'm playing it a lot means that I have a sufficient number of cards for that class.
Somehow, despite them trying so many different things, none of it is appealing to me. Mercenaries is still ridiculously overpriced. I don't play enough Battlegrounds to care about cosmetics for that. Hero skins now come with packs but are also more expensive than before. They're also pushing golden cards a lot recently, but I'd rather have more cards than golden cards.
What I would be interested in is small bundles with guaranteed legendaries, but after buying a bundle in that category, they're only trying to sell larger bundles, while selling more of the same would have a better chance of success, at least with me.
I did buy the mini set as soon as it came out, with gold.
The offer I got after reaching Gold on ladder was 35 Standard packs for 2000 Runestones. Basically twice the Silver offer, which makes it even less attractive to me.
