Um, is there a reason why the art is so low res?
Yes, there is actually: these cards were "leaked" during the DK Showmatch, so they're literally gameplay screenshots of cards that weren't supposed to be revealed yet.
For this reason, Team 5 didn't acknowledge them and we don't have better quality versions.
While It's still way weaker than 4-mana Kobold Illusionist, it's still the same amounts of fun. Can be drawn with Sketchy Information and adds a 2-mana Masked Reveler. Heck, it can even add a 1-mana Kobold Illusionist.
I think the main problem is that it doesn't cheese out neptulon, which is why the comparison is a little suspect.
Yeah, it's kinda like the retrained version of Kobold Illusionist.
Scourge Illusionist is pretty nuts. 4 mana discount
Ghostly Strike is the most rogue card that they can print, love all the things about this card
Soon Rogue will get a destroy a minion draw cards equal to it's health, card.
I predicted Teacher's Pet and got downvoted then as well.
People cry just for the sake of it.
Ghostly Strike is the stone coldnuts: a 5 star card that will make the cut in any Rogue deck that can afford running it.
This is a 1 mana draw 1 with an upside, even better than Gone Fishin'.
Not quite. Gone Fishin' lets you choose what you draw.
But at the same time it doesn't push damage.
It doesn't but I wouldn't say that makes Ghostly Strike just straight better. The 1 damage is only really valuable if it gets to kill a minion, which is a fairly narrow circumstance. If the card draw aspect is what you're after, Gone Fishin' does that better by letting you see more of your deck.
What's scarier is that both of these cards exist together, cause this will give Rogue so much redundancy in cheap draw that they might be able to assemble combos or churn through their deck to find key powerhouse cards with nasty consistency. My bet is Ghostly Strike and Gone Fishin' won't compete for a card slot, they'll both be must haves in the same deck.
Maybe the hype blurred my eyesight a little bit. While I still think that this card is the nuts, it is an exaggeration to say that it outclasses Gone Fishin' - you're right on this one.
Moreover, I agree with you that both these cards existing together is going to be troublesome down the line.
Wither looks really bad. It's rare that a minion will have enough stats to give a full board +1/+1, and it only works with Undead specifically. Just play Power of the Wild.
Animate Dead is probably crap since we're long past the era of resurrecting your Injured Blademaster. Notably, it's very good with Scourge Rager, though. It certainly has potential, but I'm not hopeful.
Ghostly Strike will either be in every single deck because the utility of 1 damage is better than Dredging, or it'll only be in combo decks that run both it and Gone Fishin'. There's a lot of Reborn stuff in this set, so 1 damage is relevant pretty often.
Depending on the rotation Animate Dead might be top tier. You essentially get a 1 mana: Resurrect a combo piece (e.g. Radiant Elemental).
In my book it's 4 stars in Constructed, in Arena it's a highroll 2-3 cost minion for 1, so not so bad either.
It's removal for Druid, so can't really complain about it. What really makes me question Wither's viability is that it only works with Undead, which seems like a very taxing restriction.
Wrath exists for small minions, Scale of Onyxia exists for... well, everything because Druid is very balanced, but also big minions. You need a board for Wither to be used as removal, and if you have a board as Druid you're playing token. Ergo, just play Power of the Wild.
