Today is an action-packed one; not only did we get the release date of the new Adventure, but the card nerfs promised earlier this week are now live!
Mobile users will likely have to wait some additional time before the patch arrives for them, as is usually the case.
Card Changes
- (Discuss Nerf) Fiendish Rites cost is now 4 (up from 3).
- (Discuss Nerf) Scion of Ruin cost is now 4 (up from 3).
- (Discuss Nerf) Ancharrr durability is now 2 (down from 3).
- (Discuss Nerf) Dragon's Pack now gives +2/+2 (down from +3/+3).
- (Discuss Nerf) Invocation of Frost cost is now 2 (up from 1).
- (Discuss Nerf) Necrium Apothecary cost is now 5 (up from 4).
- (Discuss Nerf) Dragonqueen Alexstrasza can no longer generate herself.
As a reminder, for the next two weeks you will be able to receive a full dust refund by disenchanting any nerfed cards.
Battlegrounds Buffs
Several Battlegrounds Heroes (and two minions) have also received some changes, this time in the form of buffs. Some familiar faces are also returning to the selectable pool of Heroes, with none rotating out as of yet, making this the largest pool of Heroes that have been available at one time.
The relevant section of the patch notes is below.
Quote From Kaeyoh Battlegrounds
This update includes several adjustments and gets more Heroes brawling in Bob’s Tavern than ever before! Further Battlegrounds balance changes are coming very soon, in addition to the exciting new content we have in the pipeline… we’ll have more to share in the near future!
Heroes
- Shudderwock
- Burbling: Cost reduced from (2) to (1).
- Queen Wagtoggle
- Wax Warband: Give a random friendly Mech, Demon, Murloc and Beast +2 Attack. (instead of +1 Health)
- Infinite Toki
- Temporal Tavern: Cost reduced from (2) to (1). Now reads, “Refresh Bob’s Tavern. Include a Minion from a higher Tavern Tier.”
- Patches the Pirate
- Has returned to the Battlegrounds Hero Pool.
- Fire the Cannons!: At the start of next combat, deal 4 damage to two random enemy minions. (increased from 3 damage)
- Pyramad
- Has returned to the Battlegrounds Hero Pool.
- Brick by Brick: Give a random friendly minion +3 Health. (increased from +2 Health)
Minions
- Golden Soul Juggler
- After a friendly Demon dies, deal 3 damage to a random enemy minion twice. (instead of 6 damage once)
Bug Fixes and Game Improvements
- Battlegrounds: Selfless Hero’s Deathrattle will now only affect minions that do not already have Divine Shield.
It has also been clarified that Selfless Hero's change will affect it in all modes, not just Battlgrounds, which is neat!
Also, Arena
Arena was given a small mention in the Bug Fixes and Game Improvements section of the notes, mentioning that offering rates had been tweaked to bring the classes more in line with each other. What were these changes, you ask? We don't know; they told us which classes should do better or worse, but not any specifics of how they'd been changed.
Quote From Kaeyoh Bug Fixes and Game Improvements
- Arena: The appearance rate of cards in the draft has been updated to ensure class balance remains close to the ideal 50% win-rate. Specifically, the win-rate of Druid, Hunter, and Paladin should now be decreased. The win-rate of Priest, Rogue, Shaman and Warlock should now be increased. Card appearance rates for Mage and Warrior remain untouched.
Comments
What about the annoying pink text? when are they gonna fix that?
Battlegrounds: Had an opening hot streak with the new Queen Wagtoggle, but didn't finish in the money. Her hero power hits multiple targets btw (it will give one mech, murloc, beast and etc. in your lineup stat boost), so she has menagerie potential.
Won tonight with the secret guy btw, with murlocs.
Played a few standard games and watched several others; still see warriors trying to smorc (I went 3-1 vs. them with both rez and an anti-rogue/hunter thief/silence priest deck), but an uptick in shaman, rogue didn't seem to mind the buffs in the one match I played, and one Inner Fire priest.
Three wild games, all different types of warlock (aggro, cubelock, reno), three different wins for my reno mage. Nice break from secret mage ladder garbage.
Flipped Ancharrr for Untapped Potential, since I don't play aggro decks and wanted to round out the missing druid cards from this year. Tempted to craft Ysera.
Omg, hunters are everywhere.
Expect more nerfs in 2 weeks
And it' s a problem. Basically 90% of what I see on ladder is Hunter. Aggro Hunter, more like burn hunter.
Such a braindead deck as usual
Aggro Hunter is easy to Counter. If you face a lot of them, it will make for easy climbing :)
easy or not, I don't like to see a deck 3 games in a row and i am seeing hunter 5 games in a row. I hate intensive popularity. Imo there should be a balance even in popularity.
Exactly. It's jjust bad and annoying to find the same deck 90% of the time.
It's not a magic tournament. It's Hearthstone laddering. There shouldn't be any 60% in popularity. HS has so many cards and unique effects that every deck could be playable. Face hunter win against every tempo and control deck as there is no more healing in the game, priest could has them but they are weak unfortunately.
However, i don't really care as I really hate playing in standard. People play 2/3 tier 1 decks hard playing for rank 5.
I'll stick with wild, broken etc etc but at least I see some diversity
Tbh, I will make my main game LoR and stick with Hearthstone casually. 3 games for a day probably but I'm sure of that LoR will be netdecking bullshit in time too. But casual of that game might be promising I hope and some quests are detailed enough to see some diversity of decks like "play Ragnaros the Firelord 3 times." or "win with a deck with Millhouse Manastorm in it.3 times."
Hearthstone is so fun to play, I can't deny that and I really love Warcraft Universe since its beginning. but people and netdecks make me mad so much. Also it is not just community, After those years we still don't have a game mode which we just play our meme decks. Netdecks even hits brawls. Same deck over and over again even in brawls. I don't mention casual again, Hyper aggro bullshit for 100g grind.
They all are blizzard's fault that they still don't give us a safezone and people exploit from that. How can really people enjoy the game as playing like this i really can't imagine and understand. It is a miserable way to grind hyper aggro in casual all day then go ladder with same deck for a month, if a brawl hits, netdeck the best deck possible and try to win. Do the same for another month. That's so ridiculous.
Ok my salt is over.
Yay dusting time for all the extra copies!
Well, that was fast
Fun. Client requesting update on mobile, but won't download it yet and there's no update listed on the Play Store yet. Wish they'd at least wait until the update could be published on the respective stores. Now I can't play for a while.
I opened the game and it downloaded the patch in-app, no Play Store required.
Took a couple hours, but finally updated for me too. Guess I just hit it at the wrong time. Felt bad because it was the only time I had to play for a while.
I have done before a lot; forget to update the game on my phone and then try to play it at work on my break for a game or two lol.
Exactly my problem, only I tried to download the update in app real quick. Wouldn't work over Wi-Fi or Cellular. Just gave me an error about the network. Checked the Play Store just to see and they showed no updates available. Was there on my next break though, so at least I got some play time in.
ngl, I completely forgot that Arena exists.
