Archwitch Willow Control Warlock

Hey everyone! Welcome to my stab at a Standard Scholomance Control Warlock, featuring none other than Archwitch Willow! That's right, one of the most underutilized legendaries of the expansion is here to show those naysayers what true greed looks like.

The goal of this deck is the same as most other control decks: outvalue your opponent. To do so, I added in quite a few potent packages to give us the edge against our foes.

The first package is the namesake of the deck; the Archwitch Willow big demon package, consisting of Archwitch Willow herself, Enhanced Dreadlord, and Kanrethad Ebonlocke. The idea of this package is to use Archwitch Willow to cheat out insane amounts of stats onto the board, ideally both copies of Enhanced Dreadlord. While that exact outcome is rather unlikely, it is quite common to cheat out at least one, and get a free 7/7 to boot. Kanrethad Prime makes this plan a little more consistent, either providing another large demonic body for our Archwitch Willow turn, or coming down completely separately and resurrecting a swath of copies of Enhanced Dreadlord, Desperate Dreadlord, and Abyssal Destroyer.

The second package is the soul fragment package, consisting of Soul Shear, School Spirits, and Soulciologist Malicia. Soul Shear and School Spirits were some of my best choices for anti-aggro, and considering we don't run any other spenders, Soulciologist Malicia seemed to fit, serving as either a one sided boardwipe in the late game or creating a large board of our own. Even if she doesn't fill the board with 3/3s, she still provides massive value for the deck.

*Note: I did not include Spirit Jailer or Void Drinker because they interfere with Archwitch Willow. As a result, I decided not to include Shadowlight Scholar due to the reduced amount of Soul Fragment generators we have.

The third package is the self-damage/self-heal package, consisting of Flesh Giant, Brittlebone Destroyer, and Khartut Defender. Just by tapping a normal amount in a game, we can generally reduce Flesh Giant to around 4 or 5, and along with our additional healing synergies of Nether Breath and the second half of Enhanced Dreadlord, it's like Mountain Giant never left. Additionally, Brittlebone Destroyer is reminiscent of Vilespine Slayer, able to take out massive threats that classes like Druid can provide.

The final package, rounding out essentially the rest of the deck is the Dragon package. Tried and true, this package allows us to utilize cards like Nether Breath and Crazed Netherwing for premium anti-aggro, only for the low price of running some dragons, cards that are already very good. Twilight Drake has been a staple ever since the first handlock decks came into existence, and Alexstrasza is capable of giving us lethal out of nowhere or bringing us back from the brink, two great examples of the sheer power of this package.

The rest of the deck is filled with cards that are just generally good, like Dark Skies and Abyssal Summoner. I also added a single copy of Twisting Nether to shore up the Druid matchup, which was already decent to begin with.

Hope you enjoy! And happy first day of school!
