Welcome, fellow achievement hunter.

Ever since the introduction of the rewards track, each expansion has always brought us a handful of achievements to complete in order to gain more rewards: while some of them are relatively easy to complete, some others may take some time or a proper set up. In case you're wondering what's the best way to gain all that sweet sweet XP locked behind Voyage To The Sunken City's achievements, do not fret, as we have the answer you're looking for!

In this guide we'll focus our attention on the Sunken City Demon Hunter achievements and provide at least one way to complete each of them so that you'll be able to get closer to the end of your reward track.

Novelty: starting from the Voyage To The Sunken City Achievement Guides, we're introducing the Related Achievements criterion, which basically goes to show if a certain achievement has a strong relation with another one (be it from the same class or from the Neutral section), and therefore if they are beneficial for each other from the completion point of view. All in all, it says if you can hit two (or more) birds with a single stone!

Disclaimer: as always, all expansion achievements can be completed in Ranked Standard, Ranked Wild, Arena, Casual & Heroic Duels and Classic - Casual Standard, Casual Wild and Tavern Brawl will not count towards your hunt! Moreover, we'll always take Ranked Standard as the default game format for our strategies: if we happen to have some strategies or particular interactions belonging to other modes to highlight, we'll be sure to specify it.

Here are all the achievements we're going to complete together:

  1. Ambidextrous - Kill 2 minions with your Hero in a single turn 30 times as Demon Hunter.
  2. It Cost Me... Nothing - Play 30/60/100 spells after their Mana cost is reduced to 0 as Demon Hunter.
  3. S'thenowhere to HideAttack with Lady S'theno 8 times in one game.
  4. Azsharan Idol - Deal 50/70 damage with a single Topple the Idol.

Sunken City Demon Hunter Achievements Overview

Demon Hunter seems to be decently positioned in the Voyage To The Sunken City achievement hunt: two third of Illidan's missions can be completed with little deviation from the gameplay you'd usually follow, and It Cost Me... Nothing requires either more time or simply a more dedicated (and therefore less successful, from the winrate point of view) list.

As for alternative ways to complete them, there are a few options available, with just S'thenowhere to Hide hard-locked behind an expensive card's ownership.

Edit: guide updated with the Throne of the Tides Mini-Set achievements.

How to Complete the "Ambidextrous" Demon Hunter Achievement

Long story short, Ambidextrous asks you to kill two minions with Multi-Strike 30 times. Given that Wandmaker is gone (and the Wild card pool is larger and therefore less consistent), we do not have many ways to create additional copies of Multi-Strike outside of those we included in our deck.

However, 30 times is not that many (remember when we had to summon 151 Beasts with Pet Collector?), especially since you can work for other achievements' completion at the same time.

Our suggestion is to not grind this achievement by itself (unless it's the only one you're missing!), but instead you should just include 2 copies of Multi-Strike in every Demon Hunter deck you're going to play for a while - this way, you're going to complete Ambidextrous faster than you'll think!

We think that Fel DH is the best way to obtain progression points:

    • If you still want to go hard on this achievement and complete it as fast as possible, consider Felgorger as a Multi-Strike tutor and discounter in a deck with the latter as the only Fel spell.
    • Wild format note: Warglaives of Azzinoth will work as additional source of progression points for Ambidexstrous.

How to Complete the "It Cost Me... Nothing" Demon Hunter Achievement

    • Requirement: Play 30/60/100 spells after their Mana cost is reduced to 0 as Demon Hunter.
    • Speed Rating: 3/5.
    • Related Achievements:

A very, very annoying achievement. While it's clear that It Cost Me... Nothing is supposed to be completed with Predation, you'll really need to jump through many hoops in order to speed things up significantly. Just like for S'thenowhere to Hide (see below), Final Showdown seems like a good way to complete this achievement, but the rotation brought away so many good tools (Glide above all) that we are not very high on it. However, our goal is not winning games, but just casting spells whose cost got reduced to 0 mana. As you can see from the decklist we put together for the occasion, Questline DH is not in the best shape ever, but it may still do the trick for this achievement.

    • While we wouldn't mind Demonslayer Kurtrus to go live, the mid-phase discounts are what we're looking forward the most.

How to Complete the "S'thenowhere to Hide" Demon Hunter Achievement

This one's going to be rather annoying to complete, as there are very little ways of bypassing any of the achievement's conditions that you need to meet in order to get your XP points.

    • First off, you need to own Lady S'theno: we don't have any reliable Naga/3-drop generators right now, so we can say that S'thenowhere to Hide is basically locked behind a Legendary.
    • Secondly, attacking 8 times, which can be achieved in two different ways:

Unfortunately, there's little you can do in order to ease things, so our recommendation is to just play a spell-heavy deck with lots of draw. You'll eventually get to the point where you'll have enough cheap spells in hand and you'll be able to make Lady S'theno attack enough times.

    • The achievement doesn't state that all the attacks should take place in the same turn, so if you manage to make Lady S'theno stick you can complete it over the course of multiple turns.
    • Predation, just like any other cheap/free spell, is great for this achievement and you should definitely try to save it up.
    • Queueing against a slow deck will facilitate things, as you won't have to worry about staying alive as much as you may against aggressive opponents.

If you still want to complete this achievement by casting 8 spells, Wild may be of help, as the format has a couple cheap tools that rotated previously: Blur, Illidari Studies and Twin Slice are all going to be very useful.

How to Complete the "Azsharan Idol" Demon Hunter Achievement

This achievement is rather easy, as it can be completed in just one game. In order for us to get Azsharan Idol done, we need just three things:

    • Topple the Idol in hand, of course.
    • An expensive card to Dredge.
    • A crowded board.

In particular, here's how expensive the card to Dredge has to be based on how many minions there are on the board.

    MANA COST56789101112
    MINIONS ON BOARD14121098776

In order for us to be sure to Dredge an expensive card, Ambassador Faelin is crucial (and it's also a free Legendary, so everyone should own it!): in fact, the cheapest Colossal costs 7 mana, which saves up a decent chunk of work by our side.

We can also do this in Wild, where the achievement hunting MVP Mad Summoner is going to help us. For this occasion, we are going to follow pretty much the same procedure you just read, implementing the aforementioned unit and its synergy with Raging Felscreamer.
