Well, at least this is randomness that won't power Quest Mage even higher than it already is. Hopefully. Stranger things have happened.
Maybe won't be part of your constructed deck, but easy to discover with Magic Trick or Wand Thief in tempo mage to counter bomb warrior while it's still around.
It's kinda the Keleseth of only spell mage. Not a fan of highroll cards (pt. 3)
Basically, you want a deck filled with spells that costs less 3 or less mana in order to get this spell effective.
Sounds like a weird deal, but not the worst deal.
Personally I like it for myself, but hate it for when opponent gets Major good rng with this.
Secret lovers wants 0-cost spells now.
Not that anyone will care but I thought it was funny how the wording on this is really similar to a card I made a loooong time ago:
Guess I'm going to have to add parentheses and remove the word ' random' next time.
RNG with steroids ...
Hmm, important to note that this also counters cards like bombs (become 8 mana spells) and, in wild, Corrupted Bloods (become 4 mana spells).
Don't think this will see play outside of a niche meme deck.
First, Bomb spells cost 5 mana, and Corrupted Blood costs 1. And the way I read this, they become random spells that would normally cost 3 or more. But they maintain the cost of what you transformed. So one example, you could turn a Corrupted Blood into a 1 mana Pyroblast.
Maybe I'm reading your comment wrong but it seems like you thought those spells cost 8 and 4, and would transform into spells of equal cost. But again, not how I read it.
Never mind, I misread.
They transform into cards that cost 3 more. The cost of random spell is based on the cost of the card transformed. It's the same wording as Evolve. So, Bombs would become random 8-mana spells and cost 5 mana.
I see! Read that wrong. Carry on. :)
Card like this makes me wonder, what is the point of playing "Constructed" deck if they keep printing cards like this.
Ok, since the most useful thing from this card is to discount big random spells, then we need to create a bunch of small spells into the deck, but also knowing that those spells also need to be use to win? because there's a small chance this card ended up in the bottom deck.
I don't know. This is a straight up meme card.
Remember when they said a few months ago that the RNG in game was at the highest it would ever be? They lied.
I thought they said that about discover mechanics and value generatio
It's a hard balance to get right I guess. Keep games fun and different every time. Have a healthy amount of RNG sure but don't go mad.
Personally I never thought Puzzle Box of Yogg-Saron was an OK design for constructed. Brawls or PVE - sure. But when it's so good it's a common sight in ranked tournaments and an overdose of RNG to decide so many games in which is played I'd say it's too much.
In fairness to those that love the card, I only play Wild now where it sees 0 play so it's more than possible I'm totally wrong.
In the new expansion we have the possibility for repeated random pyros to decide the game. So I guess we should just embrace it. And it does make good Trolden videos :P
That face on that thumbnail is actually nightmare fuel.
With Deck of Chaos and Deck of Lunacy we have two of Professor Thaddeus Paleo's trinkets in WOW. I think it's an easy bet to think that, at least, we are going to have at least two more legendary spells more of this kind.
The more they print cards like this, the more chances that Puzzle Box of Yogg-Saron will cast this and ruin the deck completely.
Before this, Puzzle Box doesn't have many negative spell cards, so playing it is relatively safe. But not anymore.
The only classes that don't have both legendaries revealed are Warlock and Priest. At most we'll see one more (unless Warlock gets two), but maybe they're still saving them for the 35 card supplemental set they're releasing later.
EDIT: I forgot Shaman exists. So, it's entirely possible.
Makes sense. I can imagine a deck card that evolves your minions into (x) more for shaman and maybe a replace your minions in deck with friendly minions that died this game for priest. At least the flavour is there xDDD
