This scales really well and can get very scary very fast
Due to Self-Sharpening Sword this won't see play
Inc SSS nerf to force us to play this.
I'm guessing the 2nd Rogue legendary will involve Poisons
I guess this just makes value Rogue possible by virtue of giving you a longterm weapon with immune.
What the win condition of that deck would be is anyone's guess though
I tried having fun once.
It was awful.
I can see this replacing Self-Sharpening Sword, but not sure if it will, it certainly can gain more durability if you buff weapon enough

We need to know for sure what counts as a poison and what doesn't. If it's every card with poison in it's name, this will be OP. Way better than SSS.
"Be excellent to each other." -Bill and Ted
What is a poison?
Deadly Poison, Nitroboost Poison, Leeching Poison and Paralytic Poison are all the poisons in the game so far. I find it hard to imagine this including Swinetusk Shank being a package in rogue decks.
Arena > Wild > Standard
It's quite confusing why they would print this when SSS is still in Standard. It would've seemed like quite a solid successor but now there's a lot of competition for that 3-mana weapon slot and this one could well lose that fight.
For achievement hunters, Celestalon teased about an achievement that requires using multiple different poisons on this.
This will definitely see play in Standard not so much wild
Why replace Self-Sharpening Sword when you can play both ?
Swinetusk Shank is like the sword in that it's (probably) a very high win rate card especially played on curve, Rogue has no tutor for weapons in standard, it can't hurt the deck to double your odds of drawing a win condition.
there are better weapons
I am 69 years old and still reach Legend
The new Kingsbane
nice addition
Rogue DH
I like the design of the card, where it encourages you to add certain cards to your deck, in a thematic sense. It may see play if SSS is nerfed to 4 mana or something, would be fun to use if that does happen.
TREMBLE before.... the most legendary dragon that ever existed!
Deadly and Nitroboost already see play. Paralytic was on the verge and is now confirmed to see play due to Swinetusk shank. They're all 1 mana spells that are extremely easy to cycle for rogue and these cards combined are up to +6 durability on swinetusk, meaning Paralytic alone can go up to +8 damage (only +4 on SSS) it won't hit quite as hard as SSS, but it will last much longer, and sometimes you don't draw your SSS, or you get it removed by ooze/harisson, and you'll be happy to have Swinetusk on the back.
Now if you ask me what cards you need to replace for Paralytic and Swinetusk, I don't know, but people will figure it out eventually, in my opinion they are totally worth the slot and will improve aggro rogue. It must be losing some cards due to rotation anyway.
Self-Sharpening Sword deals 1+2+3+4 damage, a total of 10 damage. This card, buffed to 4 durability, deals 8 damage total, but there is a possibility to gain more durabilities. It would deal more damage overtime. Interesting to consider.
OBLIVION!
Suddenly Paralytic Poison seems less bad.
But literally every weapon in the game is bad compared to SSS.
if weapon != SelfSharpeningSword then discard(weapon)
Get back to me after they knock a durability off of SSS.
Well, they came out in different years, so SSS will rotate sooner, giving this a turn. But right now there are not enough poisons to make a dedicated deck out of this (pick your poison) But it already seems playable!
Let's wait for more poisons
Lemushki - The one and only since the 2006 rebranding.
This looks like spectral cuttglass but no heal and it get the buff from poison .The new poison looks good with this.So poison/weapon rogue ?
It's interesting to see poison synergy. I don't know how strong this card will be, but I am excited to see where they go with poisons moving forward.
Carrion, my wayward grub.
Self-Sharpening Sword + 2 Deadly Poison = 26 damage over 4 turns
Swinetusk Shank + 2 Deadly Poison = 24 damage over 4 turns
Self-Sharpening Sword + 2 Deadly Poison + 1 Paralytic Poison = 30 damage over 4 turns
Swinetusk Shank + 2 Deadly Poison + 1 Paralytic Poison = 35 damage over 5 turns
Self-Sharpening Sword + 2 Deadly Poison + 2 Nitroboost Poison + 2 Paralytic Poison = 50 damage over 4 turns
Swinetusk Shank + 2 Deadly Poison + 2 Nitroboost Poison + 2 Paralytic Poison = 96 damage over 8 turns
Meaning Swinetusk is worse than SSS without buffs, and become progressively better but slower with 3 or more buffs. Obviously these numbers are wrong and slightly lower in reality, they are just the best case scenario in theory, in practice you will attack every turn and not wait until you have all the buffs attached.
There is no need to add more poisons to make this card viable imo, it's very powerful already. It can realistically do a lot more damage than SSS and is a much better removal tool when you need it, with the added durability and immunity granted by paralytic poison.
Vakue and Weapon rogue this time, okay.
Kinda meh. Not a card that will see play.
Hmm, with all the poison cards so far i feel like this could work as a more defensive SSS until either SSS rotates next year or we get more poison cards printed. I think it might see some fringe play in standard untill it has more poison cards available to it.
In wild it will NEVER see play realistically. Kingsbane completely outclasses it in every way shape and form.
RNG is only fun as long as there is a 50/50 chance of getting something really good or trash level of bad. If RNG always results in something good, then it's not fun.
Tough to say whether Swinetusk Shank is better than Self-Sharpening Sword. The sword is 10 damage over four swings (1+2+3+4), and if you play three poisons, the shank is 10 damage over five swings (2+2+2+2+2). This means that the shank is consistently higher damage at 3+ poisons because you get more buffed swings and equal base damage, and it also means that at 2+ poisons the shank is pretty close to the sword in terms of raw damage output (8 base damage over four swings, so you get the same amount of buffed damage as sword and only 2 less base damage).
But, between luck of the draw and weapon removal, you're probably not going to land 3+ poisons on the same weapon. Also, the Self-Sharpening Sword is modestly better synergy for Cutting Class and Steeldancer because it can increase its own attack. That probably means it narrowly wins out over the Swinetusk Shank in terms of overall quality, but if we're being honest, they're so close to each other in terms of power that if you want to run weapons, you're probably happy to run both and have the redundancy.
(This maybe changes a little if they reveal one more poison...more poisons might make the odds of a triple weapon buff more likely, and then shank ends up being better over time.)
The art is very cool. Great name as well. I'm all about the flavor of this, but it's not replacing my beloved Seld Sharpening Sword.
Chumbawumba is the worst band name.
Yeah, slightly worse than Self-Sharpening Sword but I still think it's playable.
Good. Not for every deck but for the ones that run it. Good
Ooze has been present the all year and will continue to be for one more.
Murlocs <3
Weapon Rogue isn´t my thing, but I think this could be good. Thanks for Ooze.
♡ u 4ever 2008 - 2022
I like the idea a lot. That said I'm not sure it will be competitive but I still think its an interesting direction to send rogue in. If this does see play though I worry it will just be the same way that other weapons have been seen in Rogue. Just as ways to hit face.
Yes, maybe alongside Sword, but it's not a replacement. I can't help but think that this is a trap though, by placing too many eggs in the same basket. Like you already mentioned, 1 Ooze can be enough to shatter all your hopes and dreams.
Arena > Wild > Standard
It's really good. I guess most decks will run ooze next expansion...
Wow, other cards for aggro rogue! Exactly what we needed!
Yes but you can also trap the ooze by playing your SSS without buffs then start unloading everything on your Swinetusk, or the other way around it doesn't really matte
omg weapon rouge is really a bad archetype. it is not interactive at all. just play the weapon, buff it and go face.
Play this and SSS! Both work well with all of the poisons we have in Standard, so why not? It's a great card so long as you draw the support for it, which isn't so difficult with the few tutors that Rogue has at the moment.
Better call Thrall!
That can be fairly good
Think i'll review my rating on Paralytic Poison ^^
Struggle with Heroic Galakrond's Awakening? I got your back :
I like it, can be good for some kinda weapon control rogue and in standard right now you can buff it a lot with the right cards, but dont know if this is going to be better then SSS but lets see
infinite weapon boring, stop makeing rogue more uninteractive class
Really cool design.
Not really a good wording tho, but well, guess poisons are now a keyword?
Papa Nurgle wants to share his gifts.
The desgin remembers me to Spectral Cutlass, but being cheaper and without LS, that card looks more agressive.
By The Holy Light!
I love this! Maybe it’s not quite as good as I want it to be, but i still want to fill a decks with poisons and cut away.
Will there be poisons?
-=alfi=-
Welp....guess I'm still teching in weapon removal this expansion.
good card
Kenny's little poet. 😇
Why are you posting this on every thread can you just stop ?
Some bonkers potential, but the competition for Rogue weapons is fierce while Self-Sharpening Sword is in rotation. I think for a new weapon to be played, it will have to bring something niche to the table, like Necrium Blade.
Self-Sharpening Sword and Assassin's Blade are in standard.
I mean, is there any reason to play this card over those two? Nope.
much better weapons around than this one
Seems stronger this new weapon. Maybe new poison cards will give to the rogue on other expansions as well
Pretty decent, but don't think it will shine while Self-Sharpening Sword is still in standard. Need more good poisons though, because Paralytic Poison is bad and Nitroboost Poison is gonna get nerfed.
I doubt this will be any good. Poison has never been a thing.
I'm having flashbacks to undying weapons like the spectral cutlass...
but no lifesteal so i think this will be a good card
4 Mana 7/7
Don't put all your chips into this weapon, it'll just get oozed away, especially if rogue keeps being top tier.
Rating cards on coolness factor rather than predicting power because I like screwing up rating averages (and because I suck at predicting real power levels, but we'll ignore that LUL)
Wins per class (2/6/22): DH-197; Druid-996; Hunter-91«60; Mage-1056; Paladin-1126; Priest-746; Rogue-961; Shaman-1095; Warlock-871; Warrior-906
This can actually be good if we get good poison support
Decent weapon. Mini Kingsbane. Will probably see some play. Keeping an eye on future poisons for this card for sure.
Casual Dragon Cardgame enthusiast.
Rogue weapon slot is pretty contested. Not sold that this will be run over the Sword and others
English is not my native language, so please excuse occasional mistakes
Just a worse self sharpening sword.
Really nice card. Ooze gonna be best tech for a meta with this card.
It's an interesting concept, but will not see a play.
I don't undesrtand, does this count cards that have poison in the name or cards with the poison effect?
SSS or this?
Why not both?
I would be interested how you can make a deck around this card, though it seems a bit difficult right now. Might need a strong poison to support such a deck, as other weapons are more interesting for aggro Rogue decks.
So instead of gaining more attack by swinging, it gains more durability by playing poison cards. I think we'd rather do the damage over as few turns as possible, so this probably isn't replacing Self-Sharpening Sword.
So, is this affected by any weapon buff with the word "Poison" in its name? If so, this seems like a great card in Wild. There are good number of poisons by now. For 3 mana, I suspect it will also be a powerhouse in Duels.
Can't wait to see all the other poison spells
There are enough poisons for this to be viable for rogue.
please bring xaril back
Curious what the offers of poison is going to be.
I'm not online it's just your imagination
I guess for 5 mana you can add two nitroboosts for a 6/4 weapon - 3 card 4 round 24 dmg
seems like a good weapon
wow
I quite like this weapon, and I like the idea of working with Poisons for Rogue.
At this point I have spent too much money on these games to quit.
Now pass me another pack, and lets see what I pull.
This card has nitroboost written up
For The HORDE!
This can be insane with the right poisons but as standalone it's worse than the other weapons.
Amazing.
Maybe poison rouge could become a thing if the second legendary helps
Good weapon, but Self-Sharpening Sword is better. Maybe Rogues can put this in for consistency, but I doubt it. I like the card though.
Compared to Self-Sharpening Sword dea, the only slight advantage this weapon has is starting with 2 attack. You can save an attack on this weapon until your next poison, potentially giving this higher durability than SSS, but the bonus damage and its consistency is still less than SSS's base damage of 1+2+3+4=10 attack. If they're trying to push some kind of poison rogue archetype, I think SSS's durability might also get nerfed with Nitroboost Poison.
It seems to be a relatively decent card and a pretty creative support card at that, but I fear that it probably won't see much play with SSS still around. I suppose it might see play alongside SSS though.
Self-Sharpening Sword is flat-out better, and no-one will save poisons to combo with the Shank if they can get any value out of them in combination with SSS or hero power so the combo is unlikely to ever work.
"The screen door slams, Mary's dress sways"
This card probably enable a midrange board centric version of Weapon Rogue, in combo with Paralytic Poison + other poison and Steeldancer. Let see if the second legendary will support this synergy
Sss> this one.
I'm kinda sorta pretty sure weapon rogue nerfs are ready, since there's decent support for the archetype this expansion (assuming there will be either another Poison or a Poison-related legendary). If they deal with SSS, this could be a decent replacement.
When you consider that all the weapon-buffing cards Weapon Rogue runs currently are poisons, there is a case to be made for Swinetusk Shank and if it can provide more consistent damage output than Self-Sharpening Sword. Considering Deadly Poison, Nitroboost Poison, and Paralytic Poison as well as each weapon being at full durability, it takes three poisons for Shank to have a higher damage output than Sword (given that two of these poisons buff the weapon's attack by two). Since Weapon Rogue wants to kill the opponent very quickly, this probably means Self-Sharpening Sword's higher immediate damage output will be more valued in the archetype than Swinetusk Shank as they aren't often stacking three weapon buffs on a single weapon.
For glory, honor, and gold!
Seems inferior to SSS, but maybe can be used with it in a weapon based rogue with poisons.
If there are more poisons coming in this set then this could get spicy.
Weapon rogue will keep being a thing...
this just makes me think self-sharpening sword will see a nerf
Can't see how this can take SSS's slot right now, but again in a vacuum is not a bad card. Will see play, maybe in Wild?
why would i play this over self sharpening sword? maybe next year when SSS rotates out
Guess what's getting nerfed?
With some more poison support, rogues love weapon silliness. I think this will be a fun weapon and will usually get buffed at least 1-2 times on average.
Infinite weapons rogue.... thx blizz...
this is the poison deck enabler - not very optimistic about its potential tbh
There are better weapons, just one more card, nothing special
Poison rogue won't happen
Well in combination with the new legendary this could work.
Good card.
Challenge me ... when you're ready to duel a god!
good
Good weapon. Self-Sharpening Sword is better in most cases, but there's no rule saying that you can't run both in a Weapon deck. I like that there's enough Poisons to make one of these last for a very long time, which could be a big selling point on its behalf. You do have to run a lot of Poisons to make this worthwhile.
I don't want to cure cancer; I want to turn people into dinosaurs.
One or two weapon removal kills this archetype
Ribbit
Given the amount of poisons Rogue currently has, this will be a very strong card. I can see it being played as the main weapon in those kinds of Rogue decks
I suppose the extra durability can matter here, but only if there are enough weapon buffs to make you want to keep that same weapon. How does this compare, on average to the consistent damage you get from Self Sharpening Sword?
Unfortunately, common sense isn't as common as it should be.
well, maybe not great, but not to terrible either.
Worse than Selfsharpening Sword by a large margin, but may be good once the former gets nerfed.
Not bad
Did somebody say weapon rogue?
Not bad but Self-Sharpening Sword is almost always strictly better. It just feels like this one requires too much effort to be worth it.
definitely worse compared to SSS
Stupid strong with all the poison cards and new legendary.
I don't see it, personally. I'd rather just run better weapons and dump the best Poisons onto them, than force myself to run all the Poisons to help accrue value.
Welcome to the site!
Self-Sharpening Sword -- heck, even the new Assassin's Blade -- seem to be a better bases for poisons than this.
SSS less aggresive, focused on removal, brother
Why craft an epic when a rare will do? This clearly competes with Self-Sharpening Sword for a weapon slot and a three mana slot. If not for the new rogue legendary, I'm not sure how much play this would see, but even just throwing a single Deadly Poison on this makes it pretty good.
