We've got a brand new event in Hearthstone's Mercenaries game mode and it's here only for a limited-time! This time, we'll venture into many dangerous Bounty zones with the aid of Y'Shaarj, the strongest Old God (as well as the first to die in World of Warcraft), which already made its appearance in Hearthstone in Whispers of the Old Gods with Y'Shaarj, Rage Unbound.

Our journey won't be in search of just fame and success, but you'll be able to complete a set of 10 event Tasks, which will reward you coins for Y'shaarj and many other goodies.

Here are all the tasks that are available during the Y'Shaarj Mercenaries event. Click any of the links below to visit our guide for the task.

  10. Visions of Conquest

As you can see, these tasks are quite the mixed bag: while some are fairly simple to complete, others require more than a bit of thinking (and luck: that one's always welcome) and planning ahead.

Moreover, certain tasks clearly state that you need Comps consisting of Mercenaries belonging to specific races in order for your progresses to count: while the N'Zoth event was about Humans, Dwarves, Elves, and Murlocs, this time you'll need the help of Humans and Pirates!

Not all challenges might be as difficult as they seem at a glance: there are usually tips and tricks to be found to make everyone's lives easier. In this series of guides we'll take a look at how to complete each event Task, so that you'll be able to get your hands on all the rewards available. As of now, we'll focus our attention on the current task.

In case you missed them, if you click the banner below you'll have access to each of our task guides for this event.

How to Complete the "Rage Unfound" Task from the Y'Shaarj Event

    • Requirement: Kill at least 4 friendly characters using Y'Shaarj's Rage Unbound in a single turn.
    • Game Mode: Normal
    • Rewards: Random Y'Shaarj Golden Portrait.
    • Difficulty: 1/5

Rage Unfound is the first task of the event that asks us to actually play with the Y'Shaarj Mercenary, which at this point everyone should have leveled up and with some spare coins.

In particular, task #7 will require us to kill at least 4 friendly units using Rage Unbound during the same turn. Now, we realize there's a lot to unpack here, so let's dive into it one step at time.

Rage Unbound 1 Card Image Y'Shaarj Card Image Strength of Y'Shaarj 1 Card Image

First of all, Rage Unbound is kind of a Bloodlust effect, granting each friendly unit an Attack buff; moreover, said ability will force all your friendly units to attack random enemies. Although it has Cooldown 10, Strength of Y'Shaarj 1 can speed things up significantly; moreover, we're talking about a Speed 2 ability, meaning that it will usually cast first.

Another thing to notice is that Rage Unbound does not deal damage (unlike N'Zoth's Corrupted Viscera 1), so you'll need your friendly units to die during the trade forced by Y'Shaarj's ability.

Moreover, the kills have to take place in the same turn - not in the same match, not in the same bounty run: in the same turn.

Out of Cards Recommendation - Old Guardian's Anacondra Comp

Among all the available options, we think the one you see below is by a fair margin the cheapest, easiest and fastest strategy out there. Provided by Old Guardian, here's Rage Unfound being completed with the aid of Lady Anacondra and Tirion Fordring.

P.S: if you do not own Tirion, make sure to check out the second half of the video, as Old Guardian will provide an even cheaper (although a bit clunkier to pull off) strategy.

Here are a few tips for those unfamiliar with this strategy (spoiler: it's easier done than said).

    • Start any bounty you want and queue your first encounter.
    • Start the game with Lady Anacondra-Cookie, the Cook-Y'Shaarj.
    • Use Cookie and Y'Shaarj so that your opponent's side of the field will consist in just one fish from Cookie's Go Fish! 1.
    • In the meantime, summon 3 Anacondra's Vipers.
    • Based on how you leveled Anacondra, calculate if you can afford casting Serpent's Bite 1 on the vipers.
    • At this point, you should have 3 weakened Vipers, Anacondra, Cookie and Y'Shaarj.
    • Keep using Anacondra's Serpent's Bite 1 until you kill Cookie and damage Y'Shaarj as much as possible.
    • Play Tirion Fordring.
    • Use Anacondra's Mend Beast 1 on the fish on your opponent's side of the board.
      • Although you may do the math, there are way too many variables, so just bring the fish up to 100 Health.
    • Cast Tirion's Blessing of Kings 1 on the fish.
      • You cannot do it before the very last minute because, otherwise the fish will start attacking into your units, messing up all your hard work.
    • Finally, cast Y'Shaarj's Rage Unbound 1.
    • Clear the enemy's side of the field.
    • Done!
    • Equipments (or better: the lack of certain equipments) is crucial: even if you own them, do not use Anacondra's Snake Snacks 1 or Toxic Venom 1 and do not use Cookie's Appetizers 1, as they'll make your life much more complicated.
      • In case you do not own any other equipments, do not pick one for your Mercs!
