New Mage Cards Revealed
The official Hearthstone Twitter account has revealed the following new cards:
- It isn't exactly a Secret which archetype is receiving the most support here. Objection! happens before any Battlecries can trigger.
- Life Sentence is truly a hard removal. Negates Deathrattles and apparently also removes the minion from the resurrection pool (but not from appearing in any further Discovers).
Comments
Personally, I'd have preferred Contract Conjurer to go to rogue instead of mage. Some numbers would have to change, sure, due to rogue secrets costing 2 mana.
It's basically a slightly different Kabal Crystal Runner, which for a mini-set card, feels like an afterthought
WTF IS THIS?
****** mage ******** ******* ******* ******** ********* secrets ******* ******* :D That's about what I have to say about these cards :D I am not looking forward to this.
It is clear that Mage is the winner of this release, and honestly after the last mini-set they deserve it. That legendary was so bad lol...
Wild Secret Mage is loving this
Kidnap - Counters minions but not really. Objection! - Counters minions. Like seriously team5? Shafting rogues as we go along I think. But this and counterspell existing legitimately makes life miserable enough to make Tight-Lipped Witness go from absolute atrocious shit to god tier in one swoop
Life Sentence - Not sure what is being meant by remove. Does it kill? Or does it poof them away so deathrattles dont trigger? Either way, its a discover card because mages dont need stuff like these.
Contract Conjurer is just completely insane. Double secrets by turn 3 is hardly anything special, but to be able to drop a 6/6 down at the same time? Looks like team5 is pushing secret mage hard and it might just work this time. Orion, Mansion Manager is going to shit on everyone's coffee it seems.
I believe Life Sentence poofs the target (so no deathrattle/ressurrect)
Oh man, objection is scary.
What if we print only good for mage and druid, but don't print them for warrior or paladin. Surely that will fix paladin and warrior, great design Kora
Objection basically achieves the same thing as Potion of Polymorph, if I'm not mistaken? Could be viable in standard secret mage to make you guess between Explosive Runes and this. Do you test with a smaller minion and risk taking damage or risk getting your bigger minion countered? You probably always test with the smaller minion though as most decks have 40 health. With that in mind, I doubt that Objection and Contract Conjurer are enough to put secret mage on the map.
However, I have so many questions about Life Sentence. Is there any purpose to it other than to counter resurrection decks, of which there's only big priest in wild? Aren't polymorph effects a better counter anyway? Does it somehow also remove all copies of that card in hands and decks? I doubt it because I feel they would emphasize that on the card. And why give the banish effect to mage? I guess giving it to priest would be super toxic. The effect is probably just The Amazing Reno's battlecry, which makes sense. If that's the case, it isn't that exciting of a card, especially in standard. I guess this gives you an alternative Polymorph as it's missing from the core set .
Not really, Polymorph lets Battlecries go trough. This monstrosity doesn't.
Wait, so it counters Eater of Secrets?!
Yes. Who needs counter play and interactive gameplay?
Team 5: NO ONE DOES!
Judging by the way the Flare-Counterspell interaction works, then yes it should.
But we'll never actually know for sure until we see it in game or someone from Blizzard tells us, because that's just how Hearthstone is.
For some reason I thought it blocked battlecries as well. It's a significant difference in that case.
Wow, these are actually pretty neat.
Conjurer is probably difficult to reduce to (0), but even for 2-mana he should be decent. There's some secrets that won't be triggered right away, but for the most part they're all pretty immediate. Will have to see it in practice to judge.
Objection is a great Secret. It's better than Counterspell because it denies tempo more often than removal and Secret Maage is currently a relatively slow deck.
Life Sentence is just a strange card. It's basically Polymorph plus, but it currently doesn't really go anywhere. Unless you're losing to just Mountain Bear or you really want to target Naga Priest it's probably just to awkward to put into an actual deck.
How could you get Conjurer to 2 mana? It’s either 6, 3, or 0 mana
For some reason my tiny monkey brain read it as (2) mana. With (3) it's actually good now because you can discover a Paladin secret with the Mysterious neutral or set up a double secret turn with the other Secret support neutral.
Actually a good card, holy shit.
I already hate Objection.
