Dean Ayala has announced that we're going to see 10 cards have their previous nerfs reverted!
- 5 of these cards are currently in the Wild format.
- 4 of these cards are from the Year of the Raven and are rotating to wild.
- 1 card is currently in the Year of the Dragon sets.
- The exact numbers may still change.
We don't have details on what cards are being reverted yet, though we'd love to know what you think. Which cards do you think are getting unnerfed?
Quote From Dean Ayala Planning on reverting a handful of card nerfs just before the upcoming set rotation. We’ll share details on exactly what those cards are in the next couple weeks but they currently include 5 Wild cards, 4 Year of the Raven cards (rotating to Wild), and 1 Year of the Dragon card.
Sharing thoughts always comes with the risk that things can change, so if those numbers don’t end up being final it was in the name of iteration! I wonder if anyone will guess exactly the right 10 cards. When the time comes we’ll announce them on official Hearthstone channels.

These are the cards I'd like to see un-nerfed. I'm not anticipating they all will be ... looking at you Barnes.
Wild
Yogg-Saron, Hope's End
Barnes
Saronite Chain Gang
Spiteful Summoner
Bonemare
Year of the Raven
Raiding Party
Reckless Experimenter
Dr. Boom, Mad Genius
Extra Arms
Year of the Dragon
Sludge Slurper
Oh god no. Big Priest still exists in Wild, but not in the numbers that it was. We are finally getting a damn break from that shit after YEARS of begging Blizzard for a nerf.
Maybe in a few years when the game power level has increased even more, and when we've all had a long enough break from auto conceding on turn 3 or 4.
I think Tuskarr Totemic was a nerf done simply for the meta it was in, it's unusable in it's current state and wont be that much better going back to a random totem again. (certainly be fun again)
My guess for the Year of the Dragon card is Ancharrr. It wasn't that OP in the first place, the nerf came unexpected for my part.
Here's my guesses...
Wild:
The Caverns Below: Not a full reversal, but one step back, making the minions 5/5 again. There's too many hyper aggressive options for this to ever become problematic in Wild.
Saronite Chain Gang: With Doppelgangster existing, and the Shudderwock Combo not breaking Wild currently, I don't see why this needs to stay changed.
Spiteful Summoner: General power level being so high makes a high roll off this at 6 seem an average play.
Bonemare: See Spiteful Summoner above.
Spreading Plague: See Spiteful Summoner above
Raven:
Extra Arms: Won't stand out in Wild. Compared to Velen's Chosen, it's +2 attack for 1 extra mana in it's buffed form .
Giggling Inventor: Might see play at 5. Doesn't anywhere at 7.
Dr. Boom, Mad Genius: Is this as good as Frost Lich Jaina? Not even close.
Reckless Experimenter Nerf was made redundant by the Echo change.
Dragon
Sludge Slurper: A complete guess. I have no idea.
No.
Spreading Plague is broken as it is and you'd want to even buff it?
Still waiting for the big change announcement and hope to god this is not the major part of it.
I see a lot of players asking Emerald Spellstone to be un-nerfed. Don't think it will happen because of even hunter.
Oh man! Let the speculation begin! And also memory test...
Wild:
Yogg-Saron, Hope's End - Honestly, if this isn't reverted, there might be riots.
Emerald Spellstone - I understand why they nerfed it, but I felt like they did that too late. Bring back Spell Hunter in Wild!
Call of the Wild - This is more wishful thinking, but I really think Wild would be fine with this back at 8 mana
Raza the Chained - not sure how I feel about this, but I think it's going to happen. At least I just got a Golden Raza from that wild bundle!
Spiteful Summoner - not 100% on this one, but it's the only one I could find that I feel has a chance
Year of the Raven:
Dr. Boom, Mad Genius - was perfectly fine in Wild at 7 mana.
Reckless Experimenter - this one is obvious. The nerf is literally pointless now.
Raiding Party - This alone will not bring back Kingsbane, that was dependent on Leeching Poison. This would be fine back at 3 mana, especially with the Preparation nerf that hit at the exact same time. I always felt they should have left this card untouched and should have waited to see what the effect of the Preparation nerf would have first.
Extra Arms - this was fine at 2 mana in Wild while it lasted. This will be the first card that was buffed, nerfed and then buffed again.
Year of the Dragon:
Invocation of Frost - Shaman deserved the hammer, but the hammer may have hit too hard. With both Spirit of the Frog and Zentimo rotating, there is no need for this to be at 2 mana anymore in Standard, and Wild can handle it at 1 mana. Shaman needs to be thrown a bone going into the new year as well after the DoD debacle.
Yeah Invocation of Frost would be my guess as well.
With the whole hero power package being even costed (Dragonbane and Phase Stalker, as well as all the secret), I'm not sure putting Lesser Emerald Spellstone to 5 mana would be a buff...
Phase Stalker and Lesser Emerald Spellstone don't work together. You can't upgrade your Spellstone if you Phase Stalk your secrets out. If you're going Even Hunter, you're typically going for a more aggro package. The Spellstone at 6 mana is too slow for your game plan, especially if you're only getting 2 3/3 wolves from it.
I would argue Lesser Emerald Spellstone is better at 5 mana, as then it makes it viable for Spell Hunter again. That card was designed with Spell Hunter in mind. It's in the same set as all the Spell Hunter cards.
Spell Hunter needs this at 5 mana. Even Hunter has better cards for their game plan.
Yeah, but in Even Hunter Phase Stalker is not the only way you put Secrets in play.
Either way, I'm not against a buff to the Spellstone, but I rather don't see it as game breaking as other changes may result.
PLEASE OUR LORD AND SAVIOUR YOGG SHALL BE RETURNED TO ITS FORMER GLORY!
Also Boom and Raza would be nice
Yes, Yogg-Saron, Hope's End, our lord and Savior, NEEDS to reverted back to it's former glory.
Man, people must think Wild is a really broken place if they're calling for a Raza unnerf. Razakus Priest was the worst thing to happen to Wild until Naga Sea Witch came around to take that spot for itself. If they unnerf it, I guess I'm going to live in Battlegrounds until they come to their senses.
You're not very aware of how much that deck has been power crept if you think it would be a top-tier deck right now. Even with Zephrys the Great and unnerfed Raza the Chained the deck will still get obliterated by (reno) quest mage and secret mage.
We also have odd warrior that can just outlast their combo.
I'm not even sure razakus priest can assemble their combo faster than warlock and druid can cycle through nearly their entire deck at this point.
Most decks have gotten much faster (both combo and aggro) or sturdier (insane armor gain for druid and warrior) whereas razakus priest has basically stayed put.
And even if, even if it somehow becomes a top tier deck, it can easily be countered with reno-hate in the form of bombs and albatrosses.
Yeah, that's exactly why I was reluctant to put it on my prediction list. I think it would be really bad for the health of Wild for that deck to return. I would be fine with an experiment where they unnerf it, and then a few months later nerf it again! My golden copy of Raza would not complain at all. :)
yeah, i wouldn't want a Raza unnerf either.
but i could live with it, if Yogg returns to his old glory.
Razakus-Priest is by far my favorite Deck, so hopefully they actually unnerf Raza the Chained! Since there are more HP-Tech Cards in the Game (Like the 2 from DoD) that could counter that Deck, it's not out the Realm of Possibility.
Reckless Experimenter is probably the most likely Card to get unnerfed because of that Change to Echo. Dr. Boom, Mad Genius could also be reverted, though I'm not sure if that's gonna help him seeing Play. 7 Mana: Gain 7 Armor isn't really a good Turn in Wild. But, you know, maybe...
And, of course:
