hey look, a Mage card that isn't a Mage card, but probably a Mage card anyways.
Ray of Frost makes this pretty nuts....even more so in Cyclone builds (which will desperately need it now that Elemental Evocation bounced). remember that this can proc multiple times in a turn...with Sorcerer'S Apprentice and a few random spells that could get out of hand fast.
Quest Druid also might be able to use this quite well seeing how Innervate and Invalid Deck ID and Invalid Deck ID are common in those decks.
Rogue could in theory do some sick combos with Prep, Backstab and Sprint, but I don't think they're desperate for card draw at the moment.
Every other class just seems a bit too memey at the moment. You can't really build an entire deck aorund a legendary that can't be tutord and pretty much only gives you a one-time tempo play requiring 4 pieces at least.
İ havent received this free card yet?
Turn 4 2xInnervate -> Kael'thas Sunstrider -> Ultimate Infestation time
Potential turn 6 Mind Control
Completely missed the chance of making him a prime card, with the canon lore and all.
First card would have been just a setback...
Almost 100% my thoughts.
It's okay. Better than a meme, but definitely a card that fits in very few decks.
I like to see the experimentations with this card, but I doubt it will survive for more than one "rotation" of spells.
so I come back to you to tell you that he does not, in fact, fit well with Cyclone Mage and I ended up replacing him with Chef Nomi of all things pretty soon.
Now I'm trying Quest Druid, and hopefully that works better.
Shaman has many big spells and cheap spells to work with. Goes ok in my hagatha hero deck.
I can see Mage using this with Kalecgos. It just seems like a good segue into Big Mage again.
So glad to finally see him being printed, and with a pretty cool effect too.
His early introduction to the meta made for a soft refresher of the meta, nothing too big, but some variations.
Enjoyable!
What are the best big Spells that you could/want to cast with this rn?
Of the Top of my Head there's Overflow, Mind Control, Eye of the Storm, insert Mage Spell here and maybe Lay on Hands.
This card is similar to Archmage Vargoth. It's not very strong on it's own, but can result in insane tempo swings in combination with some powerful spells.
This card obviously already found a home in wild. I just got destroyed by a druid player who cycled like crazy between 0 cost spells and stuff like Nourish and UI. Between the attack spells, Swipe and UI they can put together quite some damage, with a little luck it's an OTK. From two games against it, it looked quite consistent.
In Wild it's fine, I'm yet to find something in Standard this card is succesful in
I thought this was weak at first, but man this is so powerful. Great card.
Nice card - but it's probably in the last 5 cards of your deck.
This card surprised me I rated it quite poorly initially but it turns out to be really strong, in wild it's even much more insane.
Edit: NOw we saw all the set I can see a lot more potential in it in druid, hunter, mage and priest.
feels like a meme card..lets be honest..since its release i have yet to see it in a single game..ya it can potentially do some crazy play but the current meta makes you don't want to try it..
In standard it's a fun meme card, in wild it made druid absolutely bonkers. Interesting how those two modes can differ so much.
In wild this card is so scarry but in standard i don't know if there is a space for him right now. Probably it's a spleeping card
Someone will find a way to break the game with this card.
Kaelthas has a strong effect and has found homes in Mage and Shaman, with Shaman seeing Lady Vashj's prime form drawing spells and greatly reducing their cost I imagine Kael and Vashj will be great buddies, just like in Frozen Throne
This card isn't for me, but I'm sure someone will find a way to abuse it (...I guess they have already).
I am really waiting to play this in Demon Hunter. There are so much combinations and posibilities.
Haha i'm happy that all the free legendary we get is always playable (been playing since vargoth) albeit a little too strong.
The first several years without this guy in the game was only a setback!
Seriously though, you've see the decks, I've seen the decks, this guy is bonkers. Crazysauce. Incredible value. And he broke Wild within 24 hours of launch.
He will continue to break the game for years to come.
Well as we’ve seen it can be annoyingly strong in a deck made for him, wonder how long until they print some combo that’ll lead to a nerf
Basically, only classes that can use Gadgetzan Auctioneer can actually hope to abuse Kael.
Obviously, you need to have both extremely cheap spells AND big ones, possibly with card draw included.
Other than Wild Druid (which is still pretty inconsistent tho), Rogue, Shaman, and Demon Hunter can effectively hope to use Kael atm: funnily enough, those are EXACTLY the classes with Akama, Lady Vashj and Illidan Stormrage: the allies of Kael'thas Sunstrider in the TFT Campaign!
Loving this card, makes for some very sick combo potential!
It is an interesting build around card. I imagine it will be the cornerstone for a lot of future OTKs.
We already see it being played in wild. Fun card, with ability to build a deck around it.
