  • Top 10 Hearthstone Cards That Are Gonna Get Hit by the Nerf Bat in Scholomance Academy

They could have honestly printed Lightning Bloom to simply refresh 2 mana crystals instead of gain. I think that was the original intention but someone in the team may have thought it would be a good idea to make it OP now and nerf it later.

    Glide, anyone?

I lost count how many times I just concede using control priest, just the moment I have all good cards in hand, and it all dissapear.

I actually don't think Druid's problem is Guardian Animals or Survival of the Fittest, but rather Lightning Bloom, Kael'thas Sunstrider and Overgrowth. Because of Kael'thas Sunstrider, Blizzard can't print good low-cost and high-cost spells for any class, or else we see the shenanigans that are happening right now. An interesting nerf idea for Lightning Bloom I saw on a forum thread was instead of 0 mana gain 2 mana crystals & overload 2, why not something like 2 mana gain 4 mana crystals & overload 2? It's the same effect; you get 2 bonus mana and you get overloaded the next turn, but you need 2 mana to play it, meaning you can no longer turn 1 Coin/Innervate > Lightning Bloom > Overgrowth, or Lightning Bloom with no mana left. This nerf eliminates some problematic features of the card such as being a 0 mana fodder for Kael'thas Sunstrider and early-turn mana cheating, but keeps in some of the card's fantasy, like Lightning Bloom into Kael'thas Sunstrider on turn 5. If Blizzard changes Kael'thas Sunstrider also to only work while it's on the board, you can get rid of that interaction too.

I think another thing for consideration is that Kael'thas Sunstrider works multiple times in a turn, and with Druid's multitude of 0 mana spells, it's very likely they'll be able to play big spells for free many times as well. I think Blizzard has tried recently to make 0 mana stuff a prominent feature, but it turned out to be very very strong. A simple nerf to "every third spell you cast costs 1" would be pretty drastic and might be a bit too harsh combined with other nerfs.

That said, this expansion is off the charts in terms of power level, and most classes have a competitively viable deck that is strong in its own right. I don't think Secret Passage is as problematic as people think; it's early into the new expansion, the meta will adjust to these hyper-aggro decks. The hyper-aggro face Rogue has no board stabilisation, meaning it has to keep tempo throughout the game until the opponent dies. The instant the opponent can start efficiently removing minions, the game is lost for Rogue. It's a fragile game plan that works now because everyone's trying new decks and being very greedy about it, and none of the decks have been optimised.

Considering the fact that none of these decks are optimised, isn't it really early to call for nerfs? All classes have at least one deck that feels strong, and yes, maybe Druid's antics are a bit unbearable at times, but this expansion's power level is through the roof, and it's genuinely been the most fun I've had in Hearthstone. It's literally been one day, people don't know what the best deck is. People haven't built their decks to counter matchups, they've built them to try out the new cards and the new mechanics. Maybe after the meta stabilises, these cards won't be as problematic as they seem.

Looks interesting, I'll try it out. Thanks for sharing.

The only legendary I'm missing is Patches. I've always been hesitant to craft that guy :P

  • Boozor's Top 10 Hearthstone Arena Impact Cards From Scholomance Academy - Advice from an Arena Legend

I was also expecting that Onyx Magescribe will be one of the best cards in the arena and I'm quite happy to see how it became effective. It is also great in consturcted tbh. Even in rogue, it does quite wonderful stuff.

Btw, That's a bit sad that Shadowstep won't work with Spellburst minions. That's a correct effect tho since returnin hand effect occurs before spellburst but i still tried and conceded afterwards. :)

Ngl, Argent Braggart  surprised me, even in constructed. I still think of that the card is a bit underwhelming. I didn't pick Paladin but face of some and I saw that it acts well enough in Arena also in some constructed matches but I need to experience it by myself to say anything about it. Seems interesting.

Here's my odd rogue list, sorry for being so slow I was quite busy yesterday.

Pro tip when climbing wild: You'll encounter some reno priests and reno warlocks. Don't lose hope.

Haven’t played enough yet to have an opinion on nerfs.  Been really enjoying Weapon Rogue though.  Running a Krastinov, which I don’t see in many lists, but he feels good.  One game as soon as I got him online with my Self Sharpening Sword the opponent immediately quit.

I have 7 tour guides and a golden Voracious Reader so here's hoping you're right.

  • Day 1: What works and what doesn't?

Today i opened Professor Slate from the legendary quest packs. I was a bit upset but i decided that i should test him before i judge. So, i tried to create a meme Malygos Hunter with Vereesa Windrunner to see if he could provide some much needed hard removal. Just as people thought he works very well with Rapid Fire and can destroy any giant minion easily. The deck itself is still not good (i tried a lot to make Vereesa work so far) but he proved to be good with the right cards.

After that i switched to Dragon Hunter. After a few games i gave up on Rapid Fire. It's not good enough on its own and Slate isn't enough to justify it. I added Cobalt Spellkin for the needed card generation. He was okay but nothing great. I beat a Libram Paladin after getting ahead on the board with an early Primordial Explorer. I dropped Slate around turn 6 and he never managed to get on the board from that point. I just used Arcane Shots and Rapid Fires from Spellkin to destroy all his stuff and he didn't draw his weapon guy. His hand was probably absolutely terrible. Slate doesn't have enough support in standard. He really need spells that can damage multiple minions but the only ones available are Multi-Shot, Rapid Fire and Explosive Shot. These are not good enough. I'll test him in Wild and i have high hopes because the arsenal of spells is much better.

TL, DR: Professor Slate is a good card that lacks support in Standard but can easily become great with a single decent AoE/Multi-hit spell.

  • New Warrior Minion - Rattlegore

As pointed by someone, this card really shine where opponent can't dispose of him via silence/transform. So pure Paladin, Druid and Quest Lock, some really popular decks atm, cannot deal with him, granting a sure win if you are not too low on HP or board presence when you drop him. Oh and he works not only in Big Warrior but in Highlander Warrior too.

Yeah, things have been a little buggy. If you play quest, that trigger sound plays constantly every turn even when you're not doing anything. And the target arrows tend to stick longer than required.

It may be a bit early, but its clear as day to anyone whose been playing that something needs to be done about druid. Its not so much that druidstone has just returned, but we are now facing situations where the two cards Lightning Bloom and Overgrowth are basically destroying even decks that are meant to counter them. I personally think that its perhaps a little too early to start planning nerfs, but I think that kael'thas situation has got to be looked at. Basically both shaman and druids are running this card, and its not hard to guess why. That down, I think we can easily forgive Guardian Animals and Survival of the Fittest, neither of which come close to the stupidity of cheating a massive Kael'thas Sunstrider into survival of the fittest.

As for paladin. Goody Two-Shields have been predictably impactful, but that's assuming paladin manages to get ahead in the early turns, which isnt really that easy. High Abbess Alura is also similarly strong, but that's a massive coin toss. It could just as easily be Libram of Justice, as much as it could be hope. And to set it up on turn 4 means you have to keep on a 0 mana spell. Not easily done. Given how strong Tour Guide and Voracious Reader are, I think nerfing even a single card from paladin just makes the class completely unplayable. Paladin is basically the most 'fair' class currently in hearthstone, so they don't need any changes.

Raise Dead and Flesh Giants are hardly problems. Raise dead is only in particularly stupid in rez priest, but even that requires that awful combo of Psychopomp and Convincing Infiltrator to first show up. I wouldn't change anything here too.

I heard that Tour Guide and Secret Passage is ripping wild apart with odd rogue. But team5 have always put standard first over wild, so I don't expect anything to be done about this now. Aggro rogue is good, but in my opinion, fair. Its nowhere near as powerful as many have thought, but that might be because its not polished. I think we can leave this off for now and come back later. Its not like team5 is adverse to those 5 nerf bats per expansion these days anyway.

The expansion just came out yesterday. Aren't these calls a bit early?

  • Day 1: What works and what doesn't?

I opened Rattlegore, so I decided to give Big Warrior a go and I cannot really say how good the deck is, but I can say that Rattlegore is an absolute beast. There was not a single game where I played Rattlegore and he wasn't alive at the end. He can deal a ton of damage since he is basically guaranteed to survive to attack next turn, and he poses a huge threat to your opponent. He gives you a lot of card advantage since he is 9 minions in one, and he is just all around a crazy strong card. The only issue is that he is 9 mana and he doesn't have Taunt or Rush or anything like that to make him relevant the turn you play him. However, if you can cheat him out turn 6 or 7 you will probably win.

I also tried some Odd Shaman in wild with some of the Spell Damage stuff. I can say that the deck has potential, though I am sure my list needs refining. Usually I have between 2-4 extra damage whenever I cast a burn spell, and most games I have won it was because I had multiple burn spells and several Wrath of Air Totems to deal 12-16 damage in one turn.

I also added some of the new cards to my Spiteful Summoner Hunter, though I want to test out the new cards more before I update the list on my profile.

  • Day 1: What works and what doesn't?

    Quote From DelkoHS

Magehunter has been so good for me in Soul Fragment Demon Hunter. Strong vs Druid and Paladin, where Silence is MVP.

You're right about that. I've always thought Magehunter was going to be a useful card, better than most silences because it's got a body that can potentially remove the thing it's silencing because of rush (I think it's even better than Consume Magic, which is just 1-mana silence if you don't trigger its outcast). A 2/3 body with rush for 3-mana is very solid.

I think most DH decks will run Magehunter as a tech card, given how most game plans right now involve dropping big threats. You mentioned Druid and Paladin, but Priest and Big Warrior would hate to see this card as well.

As the card pool growns, HS is bound to run into some weird interactions/bugs. Good thing they are fixing those fast enough.

  • Day 1: What works and what doesn't?

after  a bit of playing with pure palidan i can say its a really good deck allura and the blessing of authority are really good cards to include blessing of authority especialy becuase an +8/+8 buff is insane and alot of decks dont really have ways to remove it like hex or polymorph just today i went on a really long winstreak to silver 6 ( the reason why im a silver 6 is becuase i didnt play last season) only to be beaten by a spell damage shaman who lightning bloomed his way to a Squallhunter on turn 1

on the other hand  Lightning Bloom is insane

Not trying to pop ur bubble but IwatchUSleep ain't completely wrong there are a ton of LoR players i have seen alot of variations of hecarim kalista decks already. The fact that you made the deck 3/4 days ago while this current meta already has been out for almost 4 months makes it extremely unlikely that no1 has made a similiar varation as yours before you did.

I believe i have seen the deck already since atleast a month ago maybe even more.

  • toxic players

I have been seeing that more often too. It normally happens when they go all in on some game winning play and you counter it with something you obviously saved just for that play or just get lucky and top deck the perfect card for it.

Then they get salty that you out played them and stall the win as long as possible to annoy you.
