I didn't say that. I said "If you fail to protect Fiora, then this deck will make you sad."
You're right though. It's probably overstated that she MUST survive. That comment was really tied to how much Barrier is included in this deck and how Fiora absolutely shines with that type of support.
You can win either with or without her, but I had the most fun when she was on the board causing mayhem.
I've been jumping in and out ever since big warrior got retired from standard - from the latest wild pack bundle I got my old favourite card back - Kingsbane (which i stupidly dusted a while ago when I was adamant I wouldnt get into wild...how wrong i was...)
I'm looking to try going for legend with kingsbane (havnt managed it in wild before, need that notch on the belt)
I gather this is more of an aggro deck now since the lifesteal was nerfed - I'm looking for good combo's and reccomended build types. I've tried the pirate version and had some fun, but does anybody use sonya with it anymore? or the DK? is a Mill version worthwhile? Which is best vs aggro or control?
Absolutely. Like I said, the deck can win without her, but she makes it easier, IMO. During testing I had quite a few games where Fiora and Relentless Pursuit really came through for me.
Incidentally.. I've been poking fun at it, but it would be pretty sweet if levelled Lux generated Finales Funkeln instead of Final Spark :3
My native language holds many sweet alliterations ;). Although, just in case you're interested: The meaning of "funkeln" is somewhat different from "spark." It's a verb which roughly means "glitter" or "sparkle".
The game is very stale and will probably just slowly wither and die. Right now there are still people playing and I haven't had an issue finding an opponent. One of the biggest gripes is they stuck us with the Invade mechanic, and even after a couple of nerfs it's still strong and dominates play. It's really tiring to see the same decks over and over. I mostly login for my daily reward (although I don't know why) and that's about it.
So I opened a bunch of packs today due to the event. I've not been that lucky with packs lately and I really wanted to get at least another DoD legendary dragon. That didn't happen and the first free 8 packs gave nothing, only one missing rare. But then...
The Tavern Brawl Classic pack had a golden Alexstrasza, my first golden legendary from a ordinary Classic pack and one of the legendaries I really wanted to get.
The DoD pack from my interrupted Arena run (4-2) gave me Frizz Kindleroost. Not a dragon, but very useful and fun to build around.
Last but not least, I finished the second event quest here at work and opened Dinotamer Brann.
So now I feel lucky again even without the DoD dragons! :D
If mage is going to be even more bonkers (even when Galaxy spell gets rotated...my all time favorite) then I will be very happy indeed.
I guess Mage will have to change the deckbuilding approach after the rotation.
Right now the only playable list is Highlander, with lots of high costed minions and very few spells. All works around mana chasing effects like Luna's Pocket Galaxy, Dragoncaster and Tortollan Pilgrim.
Since you won't be able to change 1-cost minions anymore, I expect to see a more spell focused list with a different game plan.
I completely agree - this card is far more viable with its current behavior (as opposed to its stated behavior). But I can imagine a case for why they wanted him as printed. Basically this:
His base stats are about average for a 5-drop follower in LoR
Once buffed, his stats are close to the average stats for a 7-drop, and he gains quick attack (making his the biggest quick attack follower before buffs)
So, you could imagine that they wanted to balance Unstable Voltician such that he's playable early and strong in the late game.
The best corollary in LoR is Enlightened cards - they're bland but playable before the trigger goes off, and then they get much better later in the game. But those notably gain their bonus while in play as well, so perhaps that comparison doesn't help clarify the intention behind this interaction.
"Deal 4 damage to a unit. If that unit dies, deal excess damage to the enemy Nexus"
Sorry if this sounds nitpicky, but I'd like to point out that "If that unit dies" is a problematic way of wording it; after all, the excess damage applies to the nexus in full if the unit is removed (e.g. recalled) by other means before Final Spark resolves.
In general, however, I think your idea is sound.
That's a good callout. I've played a little Lux/Karma, but I haven't seen this interaction with Final Spark and recall.
Perhaps something like "Deal 4 damage to an enemy unit. All excess damage targets the enemy Nexus." This will inevitably have a lot of the same confusion that some folks have had around how Overwhelm works when blockers are removed from combat (i.e. removing the blocker just means all damage goes through, even though there's still a "blocker"), but at least it will behave consistently with Overwhelm, and now the enemy Nexus is an explicit target in the text.
first off i wanna say i like so much to discuss this with you are so articulated and calm is like talking with a pillow { i sorry if you are against pillows is the most comfy thing my mind could think } on this modern world discussion on internet always becoming flame wars it feels so good to have a healthy discussion, i missed it so much well back to the topic, i agree with your point but, HS had MTG as a template so it should be more consistent from the start, right now it is pretty good but it take a long time to get there , runeterra had a bigger development time but if HS take so much time to make thing right and still make mistakes { like not using echo on witch brew or unstable evolution, that make me so mad it is so hard to put a keyword on a new card?} i think runeterra will take some time to iron those details and that okay. thank you very much for being so nice:D

DoD Pack Stats
After crunching the numbers on 416 packs over 3 regions:
Playing across 3 regions will skew the Legendary percentage up due to first 10 pack Legendary guarantee applying 3 times.
Having a pack tracker makes these much easier.
I just pasted the log in a text file and ran a few linux commands to produce 3 files, imported into Excel and made a quick table pasted above.
e.g.
for REGION in NA EU ASIA; do
grep $REGION packlog.txt | grep Dragons | cut -d ',' -f 2,3,4,5 | sed -e 's/\*//g' -e 's/ Dragons(//g' -e 's/)//g' > $REGION"_dod.txt"
done

DoD Pack Stats
Opened 92 packs,
got 5 legendaries - which is exactly as much as one might expect, longest span between was 28 packs, shortest 3.
18 epics , one of them golden, 4 I now own twice,
All rares except two, 29 double, 8 golden rares.
All commons double since pack #76, 12 of them golden.
20 packs of just dust, first was the #40.

2020 Hall of Fame Predictions
I'm gonna guess at hunter losing some of his staples maybe animal companion or 3 mana hounds as charge gets minimized even more.
Just my 2 cents

Hope there's no quadruple Patches this time, at least.

Because of such interaction Lux/Karma have an otk combo, though not sure how viable, since it's hard to pull off.
