  • Rewards after 3 expeditions?

    Quote From Almaniarra

If you like farming, it is the best choice after you finished collecting your daily experience points from pvp and ai.

Expeditions continue to give you experience points while normal play is capped at 30 wins/20 lose pvp and 20wins/10 loses against AI. Those open play Expeditions are only way to gain some extra experience points after you capped with daily wins/loses.

So if you are playing the game 5-6 days in a day, you should probably finish 3 expedition runs as soon as possible to gain more experience.

I think you only get XP. It’s still as fun though!

Ah I see, thanks for the replies!

  • Easier Way to Tell Which Followers Trigger Skills?

    Quote From Almaniarra

Skills of followers are the "play, strike, attack" cards that affects the opponent. Effects like draw a card doesn't affect the opponent so they are not skills.

    - Augmented Experimenter deals damage to enemy unit

    - She Who Wanders obliterates opponent's cards

    - Commander Ledros deals damage to Nexus

    - Anivia deals damage to all enemies.

    - Chempunk Shredder deals damage to all units.

You can see more cards that i didn't write here. Skills affect the opponent player so you can easily identify a card with a skill if it does something to the opponent like deal damage, destroy a unit, obliterate etc.

Aha! I was wondering why "draw 1" didnt have the "play" keyword.

Looking good, tho Cosmic Breath = Avenging Wrath for 2 mana. And 2 Sidequests?:o

You have only 6 dragons so getting the dragon synergy may be tough

Only in store. You can keep what you have as long as you want.

This.  Think of it as a "can't buy your way" limit: e.g. if Player A is F2P and Player B wants to spend all his disposable income on microtransactions,  Player B still only gets 3 extra Champion wildcards per week.

  • Wild Cards Reset

    Hey guys,

Can someone please explain to me how exactly wild cards reset each week?

Is it only in the store, or also your collection?

Like if I have 14 common wild cards, so on Tuesday I will lose the ones I didn't used? Or I could use them in future?

Bought it on the first day, got 5 legendaries (one of which was Dragonqueen Alexstrasza) + 1 from the bundle itself, so i got 6 overall. Aww, thanks Blizz!

Was it because i buy it on the first day, though? Nah, i don't think so.

  • An Expedition question

Probably it won't finish but you lose one of your expedition run. I mean; There is a weekly cap in expeditions; You can play only 3 expeditions for full rewards. If you left it unfinished until Tuesday, you will probably have 2 other expedition runs for full rewards instead of 3.

So try to complete it before tuesdays to be able to get full rewards from expeditions.

Wish they didn't put a cap to these. I'd be more comfortable buying bundles if i knew they benefited the players.

Now that the cap is reached, all purchases now go directly to blizzard's pockets.

  • So I just got STOMPED in Expedition...

Mono decks are just powerful in expeditions. Try to make mono decks in expeditions. Mono Demacia, Mono Shadow isles and Mono Noxus are good choices for at least 4-5 wins. Other mono decks are fine too but most poweful ones are these 3.

Demacia is one of the good choices for every run. Mostly for challenger units. Don't be trapped with the idea "if i can get elusives, i can win more." Elusives are good when you can buff them.

I got my 5+ wins with Demacia mostly so suggesting you to do the same.

Also, if you can get Heimerdinger in first choice, just grab him. Heimerdinger is one of the greatest champions in Expeditions. Grab some Demacia stuff with Heimerdinger and you will be around 4-5 probably if you are a good pilot.

  • The Elusive problem and solutions

In my opinion, There is not a problem with elusives. Elusive cards became problematic when they are buffed. Greenglade Duo, The Empyrean, Navori Conspirator and Shadow Assassin are just good cards and great with buff cards. The problematic one is Kinkou Lifeblade which has lifesteal with buffs.

That isn't a good balance if an aggro/midrange deck counters other aggro/midrange decks and decks with Kinkou Lifeblade counters all of them because of healing ability.

    I think there could be 2 solutions for this deck;

1-) Change Kinkou Lifeblade into "Strike: Restore 2 health to our nexus." Instead of Lifesteal like how some other aggro cards deal just 1-2 damage to nexus like Legion Saboteur.

2-) Add elusive units this text; "After I strike, I lose elusive" for just followers, not for champions. (I'm not fan of this change because 1st solution will solve the problem mostly and Elusives should be in the game how they are)

  • So I just got STOMPED in Expedition...

1st trial: 0-2, 2nd trial 1-2.  I did go 7 wins on my 2nd trial last week so I know I'm not a total n00b...  That might have been what did it, actually--in that trial my deck was a Frejlord value deck and a lot of my success came from Yetis and +1/+1s and Anivia; I think I tried to force a repeat of that strategy.  And this week, some of the decks I fought were just brutal including a Shadow Isles that went off on The Undying and a Noxus deck that played 4 Legion Saboteur over the first 5 turns.

On the bright side, I am glad to see the format at least supports multiple different strategies.  I guess I'm just venting.  :-P

  • What's the most broken deck EVER?

For me personally I think Quest Rogue was probably one of the biggest offenders. Survived multiple (2?) big nerfs and was still a big problem. Pre nerf Grim Patron with Warsong Commander was also crazy strong.

But those 2 decks had very high skill ceilings, and so I can kind of forgive them their faults.

Whereas I thought Jade Druid, with its infinite armor gain, walls of taunts, and complete suffocation of control decks was just unpleasant. And Highlander Raza priest just lived or died on whether it drew Raza in time or not, which was silly.

  • An Expedition question

I already spent a token and won 3 games. Will my expedition be canceled at 3 wins (or however) if I don't finish it (win 7 / lose 2 in the row) until the Vault opening? Will I be able to continue playing my current Expedition next week?

  • My first impressions playing LoR

    Quote From N0Sp00n22

So I want to give LoR a chance to prove itself (to me).  I know some people already enjoy it.  I've played quite a few matches vs. the AI to get my "feet wet".  Building up XP and unlocking a few cards and some wildcards...not many though...I don't see this game, IMHO, being very generous to F2P.  With that said, maybe I will get many more "Rewards" as I play more and begin to attempt to build decks.

So I took a starter deck and updated it the best I could. Went into play mode and got absolutely destroyed. The decks I faced were MUCH better than mine and they seemed to have an answer for everything. Granted I've only played a handful of Normal games and a couple of Ranked games; but I want to keep playing and see where I can go with the game.

If anyone has any good websites or advice for a beginning Runeterra player with other card game experience (e.g. me...LOL), I would be happy to listen to people that probably know a lot more than I do.  Thanks for reading and thanks in advance for any assistance  : )

Sorry to hear you're not having fun.  :-(  A few thoughts:

    • Definitely try to get the 13,000 XP for Vault Level 10 by Tuesday--it shouldn't be that difficult, especially with all the tutorial XP available to you, and then you'll get an infusion of at least 6 capsules (comparable to HS packs) plus an Expedition Token.  That Token will yield at least 1 champion and a fair amount of XP; ideally you get into a weekly cycle of 13k+ XP -> Vault Level 10+ -> 2 Expedition trials plus completing daily quests -> XP -> Vault.
    • Do you think you're losing because your opponents have better cards or because they are making better plays?  This game has a ton of finesse, even compared to MtG and HS.  Do you start your turn with an open attack or do you play an additional attacker first, knowing it will give your opponent to play an additional blocker?  Do you play on curve now or do you intentionally float mana so you can play an extra spell later?  And then there's the whole "play around Specific Card X" on top of that...  I've found the best way to learn is to watch streamers--personally, I've been watching a lot of Swim, Merchant, and Mogwai lately.
    • You don't mention whether you're playing Ranked or Normal--whichever it was, you might want to try the opposite.  Ranked obviously has more tryhard decks, but at Iron IV you might find more players with comparable card limitations as you.  Conversely, Normal is less competitive in general, but since anyone can play anyone you actually might find yourself inadvertently finding harder matchups than on ladder..
    • You also don't mention which decks you're playing.  I'd recommend either the starter Zed + Jinx, Elise + Darius, or (my personal favorite) create a new Jinx + Darius deck.  The Damacia + Frejlord starter deck is a mess; I think they wanted at least 1 value / control oriented deck, but you just can't get there from the free cards.
    • Don't spend too much time trying to netdeck, and don't feel like you need to craft a card unless you think it would be useful to you.  The game is still very young, so everyone is still figuring out what's actually good and what's not..  Also: I feel like overall the cards are fairly powerful than in MtG and HS, so its much more tolerant to substitutions--especially for aggro and tempo decks, and again that's what I'd recommend you try to play.
    • Which champions did you open?  You don't mention exactly how much you've played, but I assume you've gotten through the Prologue which as I recall gives 2-3 and then you get 1 from each Expedition and 1 for each region track at Level 8.  If you tell us what you've got and what you enjoy playing, then we can try to advise what decks to build & what to spend Wildcards on.

    Good luck!

  • An Expedition question

    Quote From Tuscarora87

What happens with my Expedition Trial(s) if I don't finish them before the next Vault opening (week)?

I'm 99% certain tokensjust accumulate, like your unused wild cards and shards.

  • The Elusive problem and solutions

Seeing as you think that elusive and challenger minions are the only options, I can see why you think that, but you're ignoring LOTS of other counters Riot put into the game, and don't understand how to counter them (as are the people that upvoted your post).

The following spells can kill Greenglade Duo, even when buffed:

    • Thermogenic Beam
    • Black Spear
    • Mystic Shot
    • Purify
    • Single Combat
    • Culling Strike
    • En Garde
    • Get Excited
    • Noxian Guillotine
    • Whirling Death
    • Avalanche
    • Detain
    • Grasp of the Undying
    • Atrocity
    • Vengeance
    • Frost kill effects
    • Judgement
    • The Ruination

With elusive options, challengers and the above cards, you CAN deal with elusives. Put some in your deck

I had an Epic Wildcard upgrade to a Champion one earlier today myself!

  • What's everyone think so far of the free-to-play system!?

    Quote From N0Sp00n22

I hope no one takes this the wrong way, but I'm wondering how much people are playing if their Vault is Level 11+ in one week?  I feel penalized because I can't always play a lot on some days.  I mean the game just came out and the decks I have vs. the decks I play against are not even close (in terms of card quality and quantity); and I imagine this will just get more lopsided as the weeks go on.

I think I reached Level 5 (or 6?) in the first week.  Right now I'm at Level 6 with 1300/2000 toward Level 7.

Anyway, so far I only purchased the Starter Pack for $4.99.  I'll keep trying the (mostly) F2P on my account and see how it goes.

Last tuesday I got a level 10 vault in one day. I played about 4/5 expeditions and got a ton of experience.

You can play as many expeditions as you want and the experience rewards never diminishes. After 3 runs you stop earning any rewards except for experience, but there is also no entrance fee.

If you want to earn a lot of rewards than expeditions seems to be the best way to gain them.

  • What's the most broken deck EVER?

    Quote From griffior
    Quote From Suchti0352

I hated Jade Druid just for completely destroying any other control deck

Jade Druid single handedly ruined the Gadgetzan meta IMO.

Well, not single-handily. Pirate Warrior provided a nice double-dosage of lethal poison, just to really make sure the game was unplayable.

Funnily enough, both of those decks (or at least shells of them) still exist in Wild.
