Thanks for responding guys. For some reason I thought Advanced Targeting Monocle said 'play a copy' but it says 'cast a copy' so I guess I'm just dumb.

It's unfortunate because the Tomb Raider is pretty much a 4 mana 5/5 in this adventure. Secrets are rare and result in a terrible deck that doesn't let you survive long enough to complete the Raider's condition. In my experience the other starting treasures are a lot stronger.

Yeah this^. I've played like a total of 8-10 runs (I'm not really counting) so far in which I tried to make the card work and I only got enough secrets in 1 of those. In that run I did manage to activate Jr. Tomb Diver once but that was just because I kept passing until I had drawn all my secrets. Later I died to the 7th boss because like you said, my deck was just not good enough because I had to pick weak buckets.

It sucks because the completionist in me wants to get this to work before upgrading the Jr. Tomb Diver to the Sr. Tomb Diver , and I've been playing heroic so much that doing it on regular just isn't fulfilling.

So I've been trying to make Jr. Tomb Diver work in heroic, but so far I've been unsuccesful both due to not getting any secrets in my buckets and relatively weak decks. I got Advanced Targeting Monocle a couple times now and based on the wording, it should work with Jr. Tomb Diver, but I haven't been able to test it unfortunately (I have never been able to draw or play both cards before I won or lost). However, I thought the same thing of Mysterious Tome, but I was able to confirm that it does not count towards jr. tomb diver's requirement.

So before I choose Advanced Targeting Monocle again and get disappointed after it turns it doesn't work with Jr. Tomb Diver, have any of you been able to confirm how this interaction works?

Maybe they should try like a 40 card game mode first, and if people like it they could later try 50 or 60.

In reply to 30 Cards or 60 Cards?

Just fought the second plague lord for the first time and was almost able to kill him with my 35 attack Phaoris' Blade. Then he played Spreading Madness while he had 3 health and I had 1 (+some big minions on the board). Props to the AI for playing to his outs I guess? lol

Regardless I've been having a lot of fun with the tombs of Terror so far, feel free to share your crazy experiences as well. :)

The eight mana slot has been the sweet spot for evolves and such for ages, but this is probably one of the strongest pools ever. I say probably only because The Lich King is no longer in standard. It's a fair point to raise that Mogu probably would be considerably weaker as a 6 mana 3/3 or 8 mana 4/4 even if it kept the discount mechanic simply because it'd roll into considerably worse minion pools.

On a side note I'm convinced Hir'eek costs 8 just to have an absolute dud on 8-mana rolls.

The 8 mana minion pool is not bad right now but it's far from the strongest it's ever been. In the year of Old Gods (when evolve effects were first introduced), Karazhan and Gadgetzan, the worst minion was Anomalus, but the second worst was like, a 7/7. And then there were the good rolls like Ragnaros the Firelord, Ragnaros, Lightlord and Rhonin. That's insane compared to now with a pool that includes cards like Hir'eek, the Bat and quite a lot of 5/5's with no effect.

However, Mogu Fleshshaper + Mutate is often still frustrating to deal with.

I bought the Dalaran Heist for gold because I didn't preorder Rise of Shadows. I did preorder Saviors of Uldum, so I'm going to buy Tombs of Terror with in-game gold. I have already saved more than enough gold for it.

Damn, nice job dude. I really like the flavor of some of these and in addition they would work great as secrets because there are so many different ones that trigger in different scenarios (although it would take quite some time to get used to if they would all be implemented into the game at the same time lol).

Quite a while ago I came up with these possible shaman secrets, and to my surprise they got a high enough rating on hearthcards to be put into the gallery. :D

I have to admit that your idea for overload secrets sounds even better than just 0 mana secrets for shaman though. I guess for storm trap and unstable mind the numbers could just be increased in addition to making them overload for (1). I'm not sure how I would change totemic protection though, maybe either give the totem divine shield or +1/+1 just before it is attacked?

What is also pretty funny is that when I tried to make some warlock secrets, I made them 4 mana as well:

As for a possible change to sudden betrayal, maybe something like:

'after a minion attacks your hero, it attacks one of its neighbours as well' OR 'after a minion attacks your hero, it attacks the enemy hero as well'

Ah yes that makes sense. I've played a few matches with the deck and made a few alterations (I highly suggest adding Justicar Trueheart, more armor!) and I've had more fun and succes than I expected to have. I absolutely obliterated a secret mage by just removing everything and gaining a giant bunch of armor, and since I despise secret mages, that only made me like the deck even more. Unfortunately I've also encountered an otk Open the Waygate mage and a Mecha'thun warlock, against which this deck has an exact 0% chance to win.

Thanks for posting these types of decks though! It's great to see stuff like this from fellow memers. :)

Edit: just saw your post above about not including Trueheart so you can ignore what I said about it. :p

The Indestructible warrior deck looks very interesting but wouldn't a deck like that want to run two copies of Dead Man's Hand to go infinite? I haven't tried the deck yet but since this is wild, it doesn't seem unlikely that it just runs out of stuff to deal with the opponent's threats and/or stay alive.

Even if it's a non collectible card, I think Anti-Magic Shell deserves a mention, since it would greatly benefit from making Elusive a keyword.

The Poisonous example is pretty on-point, too. In fact, I was pretty surprised when Poisonous was made a keyword, but Elusive was not, since their prevalence was exactly the same until that point: one Classic card, three cards from previous expansions and three cards and an Adapt option from Un'goro.

I think one of the main reasons why poisonous was made a keyword and elusive was not, is because poisonous is both more interesting and more interactive as a mechanic. Therefore making poisonous a keyword made it easier to create new cards that have or interact with poisonous. Cards with 'can't be targeted by spells or hero powers' basically just say 'haha you can't kill me unless you have minions or a board clear'. Sure they also can't be buffed or healed by targeted effects but that's rarely relevant. the mechanic has never been all that fun or interesting, and making a whole bunch of cards with the effect would most likely be problematic since just one of them being overpowered would cause a lot of frustration. It's better to just have a few (below) average power level cards with the effect and maybe make a new one every so often.

You're not the only one :p

It can be a lot of fun (though sometimes painful as well) to try to figure out if you can make a certain type of deck work in a class it wasn't meant for.

This made me realize something. One of my favorite things about wild is that sometimes synergies between old and new cards result in classes being able to play decks and/or cards that weren't originally meant to be played in that class. Paladins don't have any class cards with direct C'Thun interactions, but due to hand buffs I have still been able make some decent C'thun decks for paladin in the past. A similar thing is true for shaman because of the increasing amount of battlecry interactions which synergize well with C'thun cards (most notably Shudderwock and Corrupt the Waters). It's quite exciting that with more and more cards being released, more of these unique types of decks can become viable.

(I know this is not really relevant for the original post, but I still felt like sharing my thoughts on this. :p)

One of my favorite moments was when I was playing big deathrattle rogue in wild. I was getting rushed down by an aggressive deck, so I played Anka, the Buried on turn 5, and on the following turns I used Spiritsinger Umbra, my Necrium Blade deathrattle and a Necrium Vial in combination with Sylvanas Windrunner, Rotten Applebaums and Mechanical Whelps for a sweet comeback.

Even though the 'story' in Hearthstone isn't all that impressive, I love the fun and goofyness of it. There are already so many games, movies and tv shows with deep and serious stories, and while I can be a sucker for those, I like that for a bit of contrast I can kinda turn my brain off when it comes to the story aspect of Hearthstone and just enjoy the sillyness of it. I really like what they've done in the year of the dragon so far since they gave a lot of cards and characters we knew and loved more personality while still keeping it fun and simple.

Once you have all normal legendaries in a set, the next one is going to be a golden one. Once you have all normal and all golden for a given set, you start getting duplicates.

Maybe you've been very lucky, but I'm pretty sure this isn't true. You will just get a random legendary which has the same chance to be golden as usual.
