Oh, ok. BTW, just out of curiosity, do you plan on making all Strongholds (still think it should be “Holds”, or “Keeps”) Legendary? That matches with your intent to picture iconic locations and would make it more similar to Quest, but maybe non-Legendary Strongholds could also have interesting cards to have direct synergies with them
That's a good idea. There could always be more general things like "goblin bomb-shelter" or "Stromguard Fort" off the top of my head. The iconic ones are my motivator, but I see no problem with expanding the concept.
I'd also like to say that I like the minion/dormant ideas, but they do have the drawback of not showing off as much of the art as the larger picture on a spell card. Given that I'm designing these purely to capture the flavor of taking refuge in an iconic location, that kind of defeats my purpose.
Here's the first version I came up with, inspired by @Aldrad's idea. I couldn't figure out a proper weakness or way to destroy it though, especially in regards to card space. Feedback appreciated.
Excellent ideas both of you. :) Thanks for sharing. I'll see what I can come up with and am open to what anyone else wishes to suggest as well. There's a lot of options to choose from.
Hearthstone does a great job of showcasing characters, abilities, and weapons from Azeroth, but one thing I would like to see included are the amazing locations. I've been trying to come up with how to turn this concept into a card type, but I need some help. I call them "Strongholds" and they would be spells that would pop up on your secrets "frame" around your hero like quests do, giving some kind of defensive or offensive bonus, and requiring some kind of special action from your opponent to bypass or destroy. The issue is that they can't have too hard of requirements to bypass or they will automatically win against any deck that doesn't have the cards to meet requirements. On the other hand, they have to be powerful enough to be worth playing in the first place. I'd love to hear some ideas out there. I want to capture the fantasy of taking refuge behind a wall or in a magical temple that will help you in a battle.
lol. If it were a significant card in the game, I'd have put it in with much elaboration. I do think that we could do with the return of legendary weapons at some point, since there's still a decent amount-- like the Staff of Sargeras, the Scythe of Elune, or Xal'atath-- that be excellent to include from a lore standpoint.
Thanks for putting this up. It's nice to have it in an easy to find spot like this. I was getting tired of having to google and look on forums to find the exact number combo each time I wanted to do it. Do you think you could make a post sometime about the exact sequence for the Un'Goro? I've never been able to memorize and activate it from the youtube videos.
Solo content is perhaps my favorite part of the game, so I'm excited for it whatever it is. It will provide additional information I can add into the lore posts and perhaps hints to what chapter 3 will be.
I love the theme of this and I really wish it would be used in an official card set. So much lore potential and iconic characters to use. Would most certainly be neat to see the demon tribe extend beyond just warlock and neutral. I'm not a card expert, so I won't comment on how good the individual cards are, but the theme seems right on point. Illidian as a hunter is a great idea-- I've been wondering how to fit him into a class myself lately, and Kil'jaeden makes perfect sense as a mage.
Thank you very much :) I applaud your own clear and concise writing in this comment. I agree that both of those topics are very worthy of covering. Perhaps an article covering the Old Gods themselves would be a good topic to put in the que for articles, as it would be a good excuse to cover exactly what the Curse of Flesh is. The current goal of these articles is that they revolve around topics that feature either several normal cards or a few legendaries in order to give them identification, context, and story connections with other cards. This makes it difficult for me to currently write an article directly on the Titans because they themselves have yet to appear in many cards, with Highkeeper Ra being the only major one so far. I've been hoping for a Titan-themed card set for a while now, and perhaps we'll get one someday. Until then, I'll see what i can do in terms of feeding the info as it relates to other topics I cover. The good news is that since the Titans are in the story from the very beginning, pretty much everything ties back to them or their involvement in some fashion, so there should be plenty of times I can drop some nuggets until a full article can be written someday.
I'm not planning on watching it. I don't like when a TV show or movie is done with the same story and characters as games where I get to make decisions and affect how the story ends. It's like a slap in the fact for me, saying "You did the story wrong. This is what REALLY happened and none of your choices mean anything". I believe that games and stories like these shouldn't have "cannon endings" for this reason. Besides, I don't have Netflix.

The tag is just for the sake of reminding me what I'm working on while I'm developing them. It's not meant as a permanent feature.

Found this art and I like it, but don't know what to make of it. Someone turn this into something please.

I use random by default, but I often like to pick a card pack that has a flavor to fit in with the deck I'm making if I can think of anything fitting.

Fire Elementals are in the queue :)
You're in luck :) I was considering that for a topic in the near future. I'll put it in the queue.

I agree. Art is one of the reasons I play this game. I have the art book son my amazon wish list for my next birthday.

I would like to note to everyone that I do plan to update this sometime after the solo content comes out to record the events of Uldum.
Why do you think I picked it as my avatar as soon as it came out? lol

Pally spell related to the theme of being mounted or charging.
