I wonder if Swim mulligan/keep his tech cards in the starting hand.
If Swim does search for them: he is just a bad player. If Swim does not: +10 points for OldManSanns post... it won't change the outcome enough to matter.
It may be working exactly as the text says, the problem is that the text itself is very counter intuitive. For example, what happens when the opponent plays a barrier spell? Would the Kegs go off or not? By text, probably not.
The card has 2 steps: 1- Spell power is always active while the card is up. 2- It gets destroyed as soon as an enemy receive any spell/skill damage from you.
I believe Powder Keg is worded in that specific way to avoid triggering it on your own minions with effects like Blood for Blood and Crimson Aristocrat. What is happening right here might as well be a minor unintended side effect.
Out of curiosity, why wouldn't you like to include Statikk Shock? Helps with both Champions' levelings while also being able to trigger Plunder effects.
I want to avoid cards i consider mana cost inefficient.
Statikk Shock is fine to level EZ ASAP, which isn't the goal of the deck. Plunder with it is nice but in that case we want also to play Pilfered Goods in the same turn, so a 6 mana combo draw 1 extra card + 1 damage isn't that great. If there is a turn we can get away by doing nothing then drawing cards, i would rather play Progress Day! instead.
I know you say they are core, but I'd cut from 3x Rummage 1x Progress Day to 3x Salvage 1-2x Pick a Card.
Progress Day! is a card i may cut, but Rummage is just too good. It gets rid of bad drafts from Pilfered Goods, Double Riptide Rex, cycle draw engine when its not needed, helps to level up Twisted Fate, great synergy with Fleeting cards from Pick a Card and it does proc [Hearthstone Card (Ezreal) Not Found] once Leveled Up at burst speed.
Salvage is another inefficient card draw. If a given deck can't use toss, don't bother.
Despite disagreeing on those 2 remarks, great post Oldman. I am currently playtesting Dreadway Deckhand and considering if i should drop Progress Day! for a second copy of Pick a Card.
I'm just coming at this as a guy with nearly 20 years of competitive card game experience.
Thats very nice.
I do think everyone's opinion on this forum is just as important, yours included. Veteran or a relatively new player, we are all experiencing the same game. By exploring different views on the same subject, we improve, and sometimes even learn about ourselves.
I don't like to share because it looks like a brag, but since experience seems important for you, this is mine resume:
Show Spoiler
MTG player since 1998 (Ursa Saga), around 22 years worth of experience between many other card games, including: Yu-Gi-Oh, Pokemon, Hearthstone, Marvel, Gwent, Shadowverse… and more, on top of being a sucefull professional Poker player over 10 years.
Here is the best results i achieved on Legends Of Runeterra so far:
1- Stand Alone is not a ionia card. If you trully think Zed interaction with it is that good, another reason to nerf it. 2- Elise will see exact as much play as before the buff on Brood Awakening 3- That's how patch works: some nerfs make some champions worse, some buff/new cards make them better. While what you said is true (just very slightly but still), some new cards previously released also helped Darius. Adapt. 4- It was a consensus Grizzled Ranger and Loyal Badgerbear had too many stats for their cost. 5- Fiora was not the nerf target, and personally, i think Unyielding Spirit works better on Lux, Heimerdinger and Lucian. 6- Yeah. 7- He is weaker then before, but still strong. Deal 3 damage, Scout and Last Breath that summons a 3/4 is very good value for only 4 mana. But he probably won't see play in every Demacia deck now.
Its too early to make any hasty conclusions about the state of the meta. Players are still experimenting and usually takes at least one week until it settles down a bit.
As for myself, i don't think Unyielding Spirit trully needs to be changed.
Score!
They said it needs to be changed, they are just not sure how, yet.
Right. I welcome everyone here for a little quiz.
Lets hypothetically assume you are the one who runs the company. A relative new card that never saw competitve play suddenly gets all the heat.
Case number 1: You believe the card is fine and want to playtest it for a bit longer... just to make sure people are not overeacting like they did versus Deep decks. What kind of public statement would you release in that situation? A- Git Gud. (utilizing meaningful polite speech) B- Do nothing until the situation calms down a bit and reevaluate. Release a statement its in your to-do-list. C- Other. *reply your answer*
Case number 2: The card released has proven toxic for many players and also not interactive. You know it needs to be fixed ASAP, but not exactly how to implement it yet. As a company leader, your options are: A- Nerf the card to ease the situation untill a better solution is found. B- Do nothing. Release a statement its in your to-do-list. C- Remove temporarily the card from the game untill a solution is found and refund players.
Now, i want you guys to be as honest and imparcial as you can. From the options available: 1- Where do you think the card stands(case 1 or 2) and what would you do in that situation? 2- From a company perspective, where do you believe the statement that was given is MORE LIKELY to fit in?
Unyielding Spirit has been among the more contentious cards in Rising Tides due to its powerful Burst speed effect and ability to circumvent opponents’ interaction. This card offers some unique challenges in adjusting, as a quick numbers change is more likely to just push the card out of playability rather than addressing any core issues, so for now we’re watchlisting it while considering adjustments.
Despite all the hate towards Unyielding Spirit, i am relieved Riot understands the card NEEDS to be at Burst Speed to be playable without an effect change.
I believe Riot will adress Unyielding Spirit just as DoubleSummon suggested, but 1 mana higher: Unyielding Spirit -> 6 mana. Burst. Last until end of the turn.

Glitch confirmed:
I think you may not be aware Aber, but Riptide Rex can potencially charge Ezreal from 1 -> 8 in a single barrage.
You might want to redo your post with that new info. Thanks for your insights anyway.

I am currently playtesting Dreadway Deckhand and considering if i should drop Progress Day! for a second copy of Pick a Card.
I've included 3x Make it Rain, 3x Yordle Grifter and 1x Pick a Card and i like the results.
The last 3 slots i am still experimenting with the suggestions you guys posted here.
Thank you all.
My goal is to build a Twisted Fate/Ezreal deck that relies on Riptide Rex to charge most of the procs.
Here goes the core cards i don't want to change:
So there are 10 Flex slots available.
Special request: Cards i don't want to include:
Statikk Shock, Get Excited!
Thoughts?
Nice idea, but I think you are underestimating how hard a 1 mana 1/3 with regen is to remove.
I would change it to 1/2 -> deal 1 to himself.
If the meta ever slows down as you are predicting, it will be dominated by more greedy versions of Ezreal decks.
Thats very nice.

Agree. While at it, they could also add a small display of max crystals, current turn and invert the time's bar collor
(red = opponent, blue = yours)

You did great OldmanSanns... but DoubleSummon must be a DoubleAgent ;)

I'd say Graves is the next one on the list, given he shows up in the Bilgewater promotional video.

They Who Endure cannot cost 7 without nerfing Ezreal first.
