I was chatting with MalcolmReynolds about King Phaoris, and thought I might throw some attention on this deck I've been running in wild, around Rank 12. It's very fun, and can win many match-ups. Your early game options are super strong (Blackwing Technician, Garden Gnome, etc.) and they should guide your mulligan. If you have a Netherspite Historian or Firetree Witchdoctor, for example, keep a dragon, even if it's big. Garden Gnome? Maybe hold onto that Overflow.
I cut Nourish as I had hand size issues, and Grand Archivist because he kept punching me in the nuts, the bastard.
Make it to turn 7 without losing the board, and you should be able to go the distance.
Agreed! The "Hot Standard Decks" section is always populated by crazy OTK decks. Those may be fun, but I'd hardly call them "hot" in the sense that they're popular decks or decks you should be laddering with. Isn't it implied that "hot" decks are good for laddering?
I'm like a semi-completionist. I'll never attain a full collection, but I have every common and rare, most epics, and maybe 75% of the legendaries. I also typically keep a good dust reserve from set to set, so I can craft things I really want when I want them. Therefore, no pressing need to dust Zerus. You never know when you might actually want some random bad card like that.
Arcane Tyrants are not necessary (Anubisath Defender is way better. I actually cut the Archivist since it backfired too much. Haven't updated it in awhile, sorry about that. Spitefuls are pretty solid choices, but only worth crafting if you play enough wild to use them. There are big spell decks for most classes you could do.
As the OP, I can only speak for myself of course, and not the bunch of you that agreed with me (thanks for that btw, really all I was looking for in the first place). I made the thread in the heat of having just concluded a run at 2-3, and not getting that 5 gold I was hoping for. It doesn't obsess me as much as I implied at the top, but I do think it's a silly mechanic that Blizzard could easily fix. When you look at all the free loot they've added in recent years (and yes, I know they've also increased the overall cost of keeping up with the game), it seems a small give to just round those suckers up.
To those of you naysayers on this thread: Does it really bug you that much that some of us get irritated by seemingly unimportant things? Perhaps we have more in common than you think...
Can't believe how many people are saying that this would "deny opponent's draws". Even after someone pointed out above that that's not how "Cast when drawn" cards work. Do people read the thread before posting? Or tooltips for that matter?
I love the absolutely broken stuff that they roll out for adventures. Staff of Renewal? Truesilver Lance? These are so far beyond what game balance could manage, they will be so fun to dominate the AI with!
Seriously, what am I supposed to do with 5 gold? I don't play arena too often, so when there's a promotion/free ticket event, I get in there. I always get a 25 or 35 gold reward, then that 5 gold just sits there staring at me, laughing because I can't spend it. Am I little over-annoyed by this? Oh yes, of course. No rational person would get so upset. Just finished my second arena run of the week, just hoping to get another 5 gold to balance it out. Nope. You know what? You can TAKE my 5 gold back! I'd rather LOSE 5 gold then continue being stuck with this stupid little hang-on that I can't use.
Anyone else feel at least a little bit like this? Or just tell me I'm nuts. That's fine too.
I actually like this idea. It would just be an interesting tech card you could throw in if you were facing a lot of highlanders. Not powerful, and not terrible. I think having the cantrips do something would be more interesting, whether it's the suggested 1/1 taunt, or a random 1/1, or random 1 damage, something so that the card does more than just attack highlander synergy. Nice idea!
Yeah, you're right there. I hope you can still get some good use out of him, since I assume you won't disenchant. I unpacked him myself, and will keep him because of the no duplicate rule.
I'm floored by the fact that they've considered adding battlecries to the list of things "elusive" minions can't be targeted by. That would make some things, like Soggoth, a LOT stronger. Or a better example, zombeasts created by Rexxar using Bearshark.
I wasn't aware of the visual problems with hero powers, but I have a related concern. Does anyone else think the animation of getting a new hero power from a Quest takes too long? In a recent game, I killed a Rotten Applebaum which completed the priest's Obelisk quest, and it took so long to resolve the animation I almost didn't get all my other attacks in.
Just what the title says. I've been playing the quest a fair bit, as well as matching against it, and it seems to me like turn 1 quest and coin is worth doing. Sure, you've "wasted" the coin, but you get a quick tick on your quest. Has anyone collected data or have a strong feeling about whether this move is good?
Great suggestion! Fits with the theme too. Not sure what to cut though. I guess maybe we don't need both Arcane Tyrants?

Have fun! Let me know how it goes!
I think it's still worth playing, even after the nerf, but it's obviously not as good. In this deck it's pretty hot.

I unpacked a golden Zerus way back when. Garbage tier card, but I kept it anyway, because it makes golden things.

I run this bad boy in wild dragon druid, super fun. Congrats, and good luck!

Owning Armagedillo doesn't affect this. The nerf is to cards that can discover Armagedillo, like Frightened Flunky.
