Hi murlocleader, i guess our dedicated thread hasnt gotten much (any lol) traction yet, so i will kindly redirct you there, so we dont have multiple started. Just basically rewrite your post there, thanks!
Today, my all-time favorite video game turns 20 years old.
(I literally took this picture this morning when I woke up. Yes I do actually have two copies of it)
Gran Turismo has been my favorite racing game franchise, and one of my all time favorite franchises of anything ever since I got GT1. I first got GT2 as a Christmas present back in 2008, and it's nothing short of amazing.
Aww thats a nice story! ☺️
I have a similar one with Starcraft. It was one of my first games i got as a kid and for several years, i thought that Zerg campaign had only two maps.
Cause the second map you couldn win with 'kill everything' strategy, which was my only strategy since i didnt know a word in English at the time.
Imagine my surprise when i came back to it after few years being able to read the objective and get to map 3 😂 it felt so amazing yet stupid i couldnt figure it out all those years 🤣
I dont play SC anymore but still love to watch tournaments. Really one of great games.
Hot take: Achievements are a terrible idea. They wouldn't bring any new players in, and while they'd provide a short-term happiness boost they would lead to a subsequent drop in playrate because having all the achievements gives a perception of 'completion' which subconsciously discourages people from playing. And I say that despite the fact that I personally would like them a lot.
Frankly the things that would most improve this game are all external to the game and should be being provided by third-parties already. Comprehensive resources developed and maintained by noted professionals (entirely for their name-drop) to explain how game design works, how balance works, and how to judge the relative strengths of cards, would be a great improvement. Primarily because it would stop people complaining about things that don't need to be complained about, and stop them massively overhyping cards like Embiggen :P
You can easilly tie some reward system with achievememts and it would serve both current players and new ones.
Long term, HS needs an update of its crafting system. It just does.
Achievements are also definitely a thing that would help the game a lot. Blizzard is already tracking all kinds of stats for your account and you can request them via ticket on battlenet so i have no clue why are they still not a thing.
But i guess they finally put up card and card back gallery on their official site, something so basic you would think it should have been there from the start, but no... so maybe in few more years, we might even get achievements.
Damn, i thought i played more games than this :D But it is true havent played that much in a while, so here it goes. I do like the extra Health cushion Patchwerk provides <3
Carbot released the last StarCrafts episode today. If you didn't see it, go do it right now! It was amazing and sad at the same time. The saga is over, but it was hell of a ride! Thank you Carbot!
I'm currently on "hours played" 631 for Civilization 5, so...
I hope Vox Populi :D
My current favourite non-card game? Not sure if i would call it favourite, but i am playing Phoenix Point. Being a fan of XCom series, i was very excited for this game. I must say that im kinda disapointed with how it turned out, it is very far from the polished XCom we're used to and so far, there is basically no modding since the game seems like it was not built with that in mind (and boy could it use some fixing up), but i do love some mechanics the game introduced, namely the targeting system, that is super amazing. The story itself is kinda cool too, just the game as a whole feels a bit meh. It definitely has a potential tho, so i guess we'll see what the 3 planned DLCs bring.
Too slow, as others have said. You are better off putting a different card in your deck, that will actually help you achieve your win condition, rather than to have a cute "dead" card that will do almost nothing for you.
Do you think Blizzard would actually do something like that? For example to keep winrates of certain decks in control.
No, the consequences, if proven they are doing this, would most certainly not be worth the "upside".
I get it, we've all had these things happen to us and variance can make it feel rigged, but like others said, few dozen games is such a small sample size, you cant draw any conclusions from that. Play thousand, tens of thousands of games, then you might start having a sample size of some relevance ... which would still be affected by other factors outside your scope of influence, not even talking about anything Blizzard related.
Just vent a little and move on, not much else to do here :)
The legendary cards distribution is fine what is not fine is the epic card distribution.. Epics are too rare for how many you need.. There are too many bad epics for them to be as rare as they are now..
Or you know make common cards yield more dust just a small increase from 5 to 10 will go a long way...
Agreed, rather than focusing on legendary drops alone, some kind of overhaul of the crafting system as a whole is needed. Im not sure if Blizzard will ever do that, but players would surely appretiate it.
Great summary! And pretty nice year for Hearthstone overall indeed. Im interested to see what brings the next one.

No Amalgam? Holy shit. BG will get interesting... and probably even more contested in terms of murlocs.
Ideal deck for when one does no.2 you say?:)
Grinch would be more fitting 😉

Ok then :) Good luck!
