As someone below mentioned, Blizzard intended the 50GP (now 900XP) quests for players who find the 60GP (now 1000XP) quests too challenging, and that 'normal' 60GP quests always re-rolled into 'easy' 50GP ones.

My theory: keeping the nominal difference in reward allows casual players to know which type (easy or normal difficulty) of quest they've got and allow them to make a more informed decision as to whether or not to re-roll.

That said, if casual players are truly turned off by the 'normal' difficulty quests, then maybe Blizzard should just do away with them altogether, give the 'easy' difficulty quests 'normal' rewards, and save us min-maxers the annoyance.

To me it sounds like, whatever they're doing to rotate Edwin, we are NOT going to get further dust compensation for it. I've dusted the card and won't re-craft it until I actually need it (probably never, by my preference).

I'm all for your best case scenario. As a side effect, we could get a different reward from Tavern Brawls - even though I'm still missing some Classic Legendaries and Epics, those Classic packs just aren't very exciting.

Dang, hanging on to that extra Edwin VanCleef from before duplicate-protection was a thing finally paid off.

I'll probably disenchant all copies of the card, then when we get second confirmation of its upcoming HoF status, craft a gold one for funsies. It won't be missed in the meantime as the rogue decks I play in wild don't use it.

Edit: just read that there is not going to be a Hall of Fame as we know it, so just going to disenchant all my Edwins and wait for their next announcement.

What's Social Lab again? Is it another type of co-op?

Revisiting my previous estimates for the entire expansion period:

100% completion of daily quests at an average of 900XP/quest: 108,000 XP

100% completion of weekly quests: 102,000 XP

    0.5 hour/day of ranked playtime: 24,000 XP

    Total XP: 234,000

For that much XP I now get 8,350 gold (up from 6,900). This is a significant improvement, so I've got no complaints personally. For non-ranked players though, Blizzard still needs to make that one weekly quest more inclusive.

You get gold for each level beyond 50 too - click the 'Show Spoiler' at the bottom of the post to reveal the rest of the table. The general consensus is that most people will be comfortably better off in gold now than on the old system.

I actually think this version of Anduin looks quite good, but yeah, Tyrande remains my priest(ess) of choice.

Malfurion will most likely be my first pick.

I’m still sitting on 70 packs, feels pretty shitty.....

LOL may RNGesus reward you for your legendary willpower.

Thanks for the responses. For better or worse, there haven't been many epics/legendaries that captured my imagination, so I'm kinda OK holding out for a (slightly) better chance of something more interesting when the mini expansion releases. It does put a damper on pack-opening day though; here's hoping that Blizzard will take note and revert to something more akin to Galakrond's Awakening for introducing small sets. Heck, it doesn't even need to be packaged in an adventure; just straight up offer the cards for a fixed cost.

To anyone reading this: how have you strategised your pack opening? So far I've opened just enough to get all the rares. I'm holding back in case there are more desirable legendaries or epics in the mini expansion. Am I overthinking this; it feels stifling not opening all my packs immediately.

I just go with the best-looking one; I'd say I've had better than average outcomes so far.

C'Thanks but N'Thanks. I have already invested in the Tavern Pass this expansion, and there aren't enough interesting legendaries in DF for me to want to try my luck.

And here I thought I was pretty clever trying to exploit Mage hero power synergies

I saw progress on Daily and Weekly quests (play as X class, play X battlecry cards, spend X mana) playing Tavern Brawl against a friend.

OK, so like others who have tried to assess how the new Rewards Track compares to the old system, I assumed that completing the Weekly Quests would be a done deal, even while acknowledging that non-ranked players would be missing out on a chunk of XP. Well it turns out even ranked players could be disadvantaged too. Last week, I missed one weekly quest because I was constantly re-rolling quests that involved winning in other game modes; the 2nd weekly quest I completed involved a helluva lot of grinding (spend 500 mana).

This goes against Blizzard's promise that we'd be able to get a similar level of rewards for the same play pattern. Already playing to win 7 ranked games a week was going out of my usual play pattern, but now I find it's worse than I thought; I think many of us will be made to spend more time on the game than before. Either weekly quests need to be re-designed, or daily quests need to award more XP so that players can achieve previous level of rewards without weekly quests.

I believe during an interview between Frodan and a developer, it was said that they weren’t taking away our gold. The perceived value of packs and cards vary from individual to individual; it was silly of Blizzard to even try to equate them with gold.

I didn’t get a new quest, and my quest re-rolls were not refreshed today. Anyone else had the same issue?

I think it's debatable what the average daily quest XP is without more detailed math; based on my experience with the old system, I have on more than a few occasions found myself stuck with three 50G quests, or being 'forced' to complete a 50G quest along with a 60G quest. You're also assuming that the probability of receiving each quest is the same; I'm not sure that is true. That said, if the average is indeed 1000XP then I will receive an additional 450G.

Yes, I have included the additional 1350G that Ben Lee mentioned.

I didn't count Duels achievements because they're one-time, and spending time on them is a further deviation from my usual play pattern.

I will concede that the additional 2 legendaries and 1 epic are significant though I'm not sure how to how to value them. For example, a legendary you want is worth 1600 dust; a legendary you don't want is worth 400 dust.

I’m so enamoured with Tyrande I can’t imagine switching her out for any of the upcoming Anduin skins no matter how good they are. I mean, she and Malfurion go back all the way to WC3 days; Anduin is just a Johnny-Come-Lately in comparison.

So some re-calculation based on the following scenario (no tavern pass):

100% completion of daily quests at an average of 900XP/quest: 108,000 XP

100% completion of weekly quests, including 7 ranked wins: 102,000 XP

    0.5 hour/day of ranked playtime: 24,000 XP

Total gold (without converting packs to gold): 6900

This is slightly less than what I got before but I expect the seasonal events to make up the difference and more. However, it should be noted that I have had to change my play pattern in order to achieve 7 ranked wins a week, which runs counter to the promise of getting comparable/higher gold for the same play pattern.

Those who are not competitive in ranked play remain significantly disadvantaged - XP from ranked wins should be a bonus, not a cornerstone to achieving previous levels of gold rewards.
