The content had nothing to do with it - so a nearly identical stunt pulled by an American college should have the same penalties, then, right? Except they weren't penalized at all ...

Yeah, I call full on shenanigans with this one. Blizzard knew exactly what they were doing, and it was all about China. They are just sad about how much backlash they have gotten, and they are desperately trying to stop the bleeding.

Yes, but you also have lands in your deck as part of the 60-75 cards (or am I wrong about that for MTG?) - this adds a totally different layer of randomness in the draw that is entirely absent from hearthstone.

You made some very interesting points.

But honestly, I think the biggest reason Hearthstone has SOOO many random effects compared to other Digital Card Games is the deck size. MTG has 60 (?) card decks; Eternal has 75 card decks. This makes the card draw order almost enough randomness already for these games (though even they have a little bit of randomness in their card effects as well).

Hearthstone has half or less of the deck size of those other games, meaning it has MUCH more reliable card draw than they do. It also has no need to juggle influence or power cards within the deck itself. All of this makes the game mechanics too predictable and reliable, even with the randomness of deck order.

So, basically, it comes down to deck size. Biggest factor for why there is so much RNG in the game.

Here's one of the most reliable meta reports, for anyone who wants to have a look. Some pretty interesting things happening in the meta presently, particularly with regard to the newest addition to Tier 1 status, Aggro Warrior. Data Reaper Report

It also makes note that the meta is just about to get completely shaken up when the wild cards enter the standard game.

While there are OTHER competitive decks than Combo Priest, suggesting that Aggro Warrior is *better* than Combo Priest is, in my opinion, entirely incorrect.

I'll accept that criticism. It's probably more fragile than Combo Priest, but it has better openers for sure. Aggro warrior probably is more susceptible to fizzling out though.

Honestly though, the archetype has not even come close to being refined yet because it isn't getting a lot of play. I think it's potential is VERY close to combo priest, if it gets some people refining it to optimal status.

Edit: If you take a look at Vicious Syndicate Data Reaper report, they have Aggro Warrior just barely below Combo Priest; the playrate of combo priest is dropping; the playrate of Aggro Warrior is rising. Take all of that as you will. https://www.vicioussyndicate.com/vs-data-reaper-report-142/

technically speaking Amani Berserker would have done more damage while Temple Berserker would have been more resilient in case of removal (+ the potential additional stickiness if Reborn wasn't popped)

just the fact that you had no way of utilizing Wasp's Rush means that this is, in fact, not the best possible opening.

The second wasp did take out a 3/3 ... and if you look again at the deck list, there is no Amani Berserker. About the removal part, yes, this opening was vulnerable to a 3 damage removal on exactly their turn 2, if they had been capable of a 3-damage removal at that point (which I'm pretty sure most rogues are not capable of ... though backstab into dagger would have done it).

This was my personal best start with the aggro warrior list that is posted here on Out of Cards as part of their meta report. I used it to hit rank 5. Along the way, this happened:

    https://hsreplay.net/replay/g3iCTuvc5qQRv4s2CrVe83

I think it's actually the best possible opening 3 turns that the deck is capable of executing, full stop. If you go watch the replay, yes, that really was the board state at the end of turn 3.

I wrote a deck guide, if you want to take a look. The guide is my work, the deck is the work of Out of Cards.

Apparently enough people thought it was a fun idea that it now has 480 games played, enough to be listed with a winrate. But I'm sure their opponents didn't mind the win donations.

Wins definitely do not degrade. I have classes I've barely touched in months and they still have exactly the same number of wins as always. This is probably abundantly obvious, but there are two steps to increasing the class wins recorded:

    1. You have to win (super duper obvious).

    2. It has to be a ladder win, not a casual win.

Maybe some of the wins you are remembering with Baku rogue were in casual mode?

It's VERY good. And I had a ton of fun. This is the list I used for the entire 17 games: https://hsreplay.net/decks/1TSwmspqaJ2qL85mNbqwhd/

You're looking to curve out, but the best possible start is to have any damaged unit at the end of turn 2 (or an Inner Rage in hand), and then play Bloodsworn Mercenary on turn 3. Holy cow, that guy. He's insane.

My best start was turn 1: Coin into Redband Wasp

Turn 2: Inner Rage and Rampage on the Wasp

Turn 3: Bloodsworn Mercenary on the Wasp. Turns out that if you can have a 3/3 and two 9/5's on turn 3, that's pretty good. You can see it at the link below (same one I edited into the main post above):

This is how I got to rank 5 this month (why this late? I've mostly been playing Eternal this month, not Hearthstone.) Aggro warrior took me from Rank 9 to Rank 5 with 14 wins and 3 losses.

Oh, and I also have a recording of what may be the best possible start for this deck (I ended turn 3 with a 3/3, a 9/5, and a 9/2 on the board, with opponent at 12 health): https://hsreplay.net/replay/g3iCTuvc5qQRv4s2CrVe83

    Hey there Flux and Admins,

I'm curious if you have plans to add the ability to ignore a user at some point in the future. Thanks for any info you can share!

Thank you Flux for putting them back up. I'll try to avoid that mistake in the future. I've ditched the other posts now.

There should be a comment by me at the very end of the thread, but it's not there. Edit: all three missing posts would be the very last post in the thread, if they had not disappeared. They are also not there in Edge or Firefox, just like they are not there in Chrome.

If it helps to know this, I did edit the posts a couple of times for clarity and grammar (and honestly to try to tone down my irritation and anger). So, I did re-open and edit each of the posts. But they showed up each time after editing as well. Then a few minutes later, when refreshing the thread, they were gone. Three comments, three identical results - poof, all gone.

I made three separate attempts to reply to a thread today, and all three have disappeared after initially showing up. I'm now worried that all three will eventually randomly reappear at some point. This is the thread: https://outof.cards/forums/fan-creations/nerf-a-hearthstone-card/1654-northshire-cleric-eternium-rover?page=3

If moderators are deleting my comments, I'd like some kind of notice about that happening. If it's not moderators deleting them, then I have no idea why they are now gone. If you are able to restore the comments, I only want the most recent version posted, not the other two versions.

For sure he gets deck refill when he switches hero powers. But he never once USED his last hero power for me. It sat there completely unused, even when it was free for him to cast it.

I assume the boss used his final hero power to shuffle stuff into his deck? Weirdly for me, he never once used his final hero power. No idea what was up with that

I got the most incredibly overpowered combination of passives for this run, using Sir Finley. Here they are:

--Ring that makes all your 0,1,2-cost minions have poisonous (Edit: It's called "Band of Bees")

--Rocket Boots - All your minions have rush

This combination makes your hero power read "Kill any minion for 2 mana, as long it doesn't have divine shield."

Easily defeated the Plague Lord on the first try with this combination (and of course I chose my buckets for the poisonous keyword all throughout the run).

It was pretty stinking awesome. One of the highlights of the expac for me so far.

... quite healthy actually. I find myself rather surprised to discover that 6 out of 9 classes have an overall positive winrate (according to hsreplay), and 5 of those 6 are extremely closely matched. And even the three classes that are overall less than 50% winrate still have at least one good deck available that is above 50%. All I can say is that I'm pleasantly surprised.

I'll probably be buying this one with money for the first time in a long time for a solo adventure. Why? Simple reason: my kids (ages 4 and 6) love these solo adventure things.
