Is it just me or are the legendary dragons a bit underwhelming so far? At least compared to the rest of the expansion.
This is pretty much just Ysera for Warlock...and Ysera hasn't seen play in years.
You can't run it in Questlock because you need the hero power to activate. We still don't have enough healing to really get value out of this without dying.
I mean, this is basically just worse Jaraxxus
It doesn't work against control because they'll just remove it. It doesn't work against aggro because they'll just ignore it and kill you. It doesn't work against combo because it's too slow.
I still believe in Dragon Warlock, but there's no way I'M putting that thing in
well, reading comprehension is king and I am not. Apparently he summons EVERY time you take damage, meaning that against any opponent that relies on actively murdering you, this is basically a soft taunt/pseudo removal. If they can't kill you in one turn they can't attack your face or else they'll give you lethal for next turn, so they need to trade, which means you basically just cleared the board (or at least preserved your health total)
It's the ultimate checkmate card and I love it. It doesn't even need a build around. Just drop it into your Control Warlock deck of choice and it's a free win against any tempo deck that hasn't killled you by the time this drops.
Thanks to Dragon Breeder you can multiply it in case it gets hard removal'd.
Quest Shaman doesn't run enough overload for this to be worth and I don't think they'd want to include an overload package just to make this work. Kobold LAckey + Wasp already does the same amount of damage for less commitment.
Aggro Shaman already has Lava Burst, which is better because it's cheaper, and they really don't need that much reach. Could maybe see it being run in the more board centered builds. If you drop this with Zap after a tur 4 Thunderhead you get big tempo.
I get the feeling Shaman will get some cards that justify this existing
This one doesn't even need the dragon synergy to be playable. Maybe value control priest might be a thing after all. I guess it depends on how the rest of the meta ends up.
Even if you went full Shuffle you can't play more than 3 a turn...at that point they're just worse Pogo Hoppers
Hunter technically has the ability to combine them with Tundra Rhino, but even then, you'd need the Rhino to stick before you can do anything with the birds.
The best I can come up with (only as a meme) is to Scarlet Webweaver the bird, then Hunting Party twice, play a Tundra Rhino and charge 4 0-cost ravens into your opponents face for big damage. Wouldn't be the first Hunter OTK that noone played because it takes too much work to set up.
it's good and all, but WArrior doesn't really have any Pirate in Standard and I can't think of any Neutral ones they are desperate to use (Greenskin, maybe Amalgam for a Dragon hybrid?)
The main problem I see is that Warrior doesn't have any weapon tutors anymore so running a single weapon as a draw engine doesn't seem that good to me.
would be interesting to see how the different classes compare to each other.
Hunter for instance wouldn't fare to well because you might run into the two class dragons which are a bit underwhelming, whereas Rogue has a chance of discovering Waxadred, which is a very good result.
Might be a fun gimmick for stuff like Shaman or Rogue, but overall probably a meme
Pretty sure they removed the discover class bonus a while back because of taunt warrior
oh I know, but you can still disscover class cards and that's my point. Some class options are just better than others, meaning your overall chances at gettting a good result either de- or increase.
The RNG kinda makes it hit or miss. It's a strong card for Hunter, Paladin and MAgge (and Druid if they somehow come up with a non-quest Highlander deck)
Probably also good in Highlander Rogue if that's still a thing.
Will feel pretty bad to play against this when it drops to large dragons, but seeing how many medium sized ones we're getting this expansion I think it'll even out.
This is....underwhelming. It's not terrible, but you can only really play it on an empty board.
don't even think this is great anti-Highlander tech (at least in Standard)
Realistically, you cannot predict when your opponent is going to use Zephrys so you can't really play it before that.
If you play it too early they might just draw the bird and then your effort was wasted.
Not to mention that it needs at least a turn to pop (unless you kill it instantly, in which case it's a tempo loss).
Will be fun to use in a dedicated deck though. Weasels, but better because you're not affeceted.
I love him. I just love him a lot.

Dragon Warlock might actually be coming together.
yes,
Battlecry: Fill your board with 6/6 Dragons, then kill yourself
Eh...

another Volcanic Potion clone

I don't see this achieving much.

looks like shenaniganas, but a 3-mana 3/4 with Beast Tag and an upside could see play once Nightmare Amalgam rotates.
Ah yes, the fabled Kingsbane counter, only one year too late.
I don't see this being used in Standard unless Waggle Pick takes over completely.
5-mana is a lot and competes directly with Harrison Jones, who is more universally useful.
Also I guess I can safely dust my Kingsbane now?
the first tech card to also tech against itself

I guess it's good for Wild
Rafaam already demonstrated how a deck full of legendaries doesn't win games.
Therefore this won't do anything more.
It's gonna be great in Quest Hunter
Springpaw, Hogsteed and Zilliax are enough to make this consistent, and Quest Hunter likes draw a lot.
It'S basically an early Huffer when you need it. If only we had a suitable substitue for Leokk
it can also draw its other copy, boosting it's overall consistency
i was more thinking in terms of consistency, seeing how best case scenarios aren't really enough to determine a card's value

Didn't expect Highlander Support this soon.
Guess this is effectively the Galakrond for the Hero side
